Advantages: Cheap, It works!, Excellent quality

Disadvantages: None

I have always had problems with my lips getting very dry. I sucked my thumb for 11 years and i'm guessing that is the problem - I always feel the need to keep them moist so end up licking them every few minutes. Saliva is actually very bad and shouldn't lick your lips as saliva actually dries your lips out even quicker.

I was getting very low on the Boots Lipsalve which my mum had bought me, and also on my other 'essentials' - foundatation etc. so decided to splash out on the Boots website. The reason for this was because every Boot's I had gone into didn't stock my foundation!!

Anyway... Whilst searching through pages of cheap and expensive products I wanted something with staying power that would not look stupid if I did lick it off - that is the reason I don't wear lipstick - it always ends up looking like a ring of colour round my mouth - not nice! There were many to choose from - mostly flavoured which is also bad since I tend to like the taste and lick it off even more which makes my lips really dry and sore.

Apart from the traditional Vaseline, I decided to go for Nivea Lip Care Repair because of it's price - only £1.48!! That is cheaper than the 'Essential', 'Sun SPF 18', and the 'Pearl and Shine' types all by Nivea. I wasn't sure of the quality compared to other Lip Care products such as Boots own brand, but Nivea do supply great quality product which I have tried so I thought I may as well give it ago since it's the cheapest one out there.

What is the packaging like? The Lip Care Repair comes in a little cardboard packet to let you see how it is contained and to give you some information not found on the actual product: 'Fast Effective relief for sore chapped lips' then three bulletpoints with:
Panthenol
Bisabolol
Vitamin E

Going by the latter I would guess that the other 2 are good things...

Turning the packet over you are given more information: when you use it ("under extreme weather conditions or when you have a cold you lips become sore and chapped").

Ah Ok, those 3 ingredients mentioned earlier actually regenerate dry lips quickly and effectively.

The previous Lipsalve I had been using contained UVA and UVB filters which I had never considered before and I didn't realise that Nivea Repair also contain UV filters - SPF 6.

Opening the product you are faced with a cylindrical container which is a blue/green colour - I would actually say mint colour. It has a rounded top and you can take it off to reveal the product itself. The lid is very sturdy and will stay on - just remeber and listen out for the 'click' when you put the lid on.

The bottom turns in an anticlockwise direction to show more than an inch of lip care product. It is kind of yellowy in colour.

What does it smell like? I hate trying to describe smells! This one smells like a lip salve! For those of you unfamiliar with it you do have to smell very hard to get an kind of fragrance out of it - It is a very very faint vanilla smell.

What is it like? On first use, I had to rub it over my lips a few times. This just shows how good a quality it is. It is a solid stick just like you would find on a deodorant for example - not a liquid or a cream. This really does have staying power and I don't find the need to lick my lips at all when I have it on. I have noticed a considerable difference already and I've not even had it that long! My lips are really moistureised and no long dry or sore. Once you have applied it for the first time, the second and third times are a lot easier and you don't need to rub it across so many times.

This doesn't leave a glossy finish on your lips but does leave them with a little shine.

Ingredients: I'll just add these but I have no idea which are more likely to cause irritation.

Cera Microcristallina, Octyldodecanol, Hydrogenerated Polydecene, Ricinus Communis, Cetyl Palmitate, Myristyl Myristate, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Panthenol, C20-40 Alkyl Stearate, Cera Carnauba, Butyrospermum Parkii, Buxus Chinensis, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aqua (water), Cera Alba, Bisabolol, Zea Mays, BHT, Parfum (fragrance), Cl 40800.

Where do they get those names from!?!? hehe

This is a highly recommended product if you have the same kind of problems as me: dry, chapped, sore lips that are in desperate need of moisture. It is ideal especially at this time of the year since there may have been a lot of damage caused by the winter. It will also protect you during the summer with the SPF in it which I would see as an added bonus.

I would rate this 5/5!
