My birthday was a few weeks ago now and I was lucky enough for my husband to buy me No7 Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara. The mascara that I have foes not look like the above picture, mine is purple in colour with silver writing and a thick turquoise band just below where the lid is. The packaging is really nice and sturdy and it is a really nice shape with the lid / handle flaring out rather than being straight.
I had not previously used any number 7 mascara but it is a well known brand so I was expecting it to be good. However, in the past I have bought some really premium mascaras costing £20+ each so I was not expecting miracles.
On opening the mascara up I noticed that the brush itself was quite thin and it was straight rather than being uniquely shaped like other mascaras that I have used. I thought that this would mean that it would not be very easy to apply but I was wrong. Because the brush is thin you can still get into the very inner eye laches (even mine which are really tiny). Also because the brush is thin you don't end up getting loads of excess mascara on your eyelashes making the clumpy and spider like.
On application of this number 7 mascara you really notice how it works. I have dark eyelashes anyway but this mascara makes them look thicker and longer but still natural.
This mascara is waterproof and it drys quite quickly. It is also easy to take off with a face wipe before bed. I am really pleased with this mascara and will definately buy it in the future (or ask my lovely husband for another one for Christmas).
This waterproof mascara comes in an elegant coppery gold tube. It is the usual wand style mascara and comes with a slim brush for application. It promises to give 'incredibly intense, fluttering lashes. Its smooth formula is perfect for building up your lashes without any clumps'. It comes in two shade - black (which is the one I have) and brown/black. At £12.50 it's not the cheapest but neither is it the most expensive mascara on the market and being Boots, you can often find it on offer or course use those wonderful Boots Advantage Points to buy it.
Putting it to the test
Over the summer I went to Radgale Hall with my daughter and a friend. I had taken my daughter there 10 years ago for her 16th birthday and this was her first return trip. A lot had changed since her last visit and she was keen to try out the new (to her) thermal spa area. So after we had sorted ourselves out and changed into our swimwear we headed straight to the spa which has various different water and heat areas - steam rooms, saunas, salt bath, cave showers etc. In other words, an excellent testing ground for my waterproof mascara. Now I'm going to sound very, very smug - at the end of our hour or so detoxing in the steam rooms and enjoying the warmth of the saunas, we emerged. Both my companions were showing very definite signs of panda eyes - I'm afraid their so called waterproof mascaras failed them. My Boots No 7 mascara was still in all the right places - not a single smudge.
So, yes, it is definitely waterproof. Full marks there. Does it give "intense, fluttering lashes"? In my experience, no but it does an okay job. It does give my lashes definition - making them look longer. It doesn't however add volume so in my book doesn't live up to the intense promise. Another plus is that it does go on easily without any blobs or clogging and lasts well. However, I only use this mascara when I need something waterproof. When I went to glam up for an evening out, I would use another mascara that I know gives my lashes more volume. When it runs out, I will restock as I do like to have a reliable waterproof mascara in my makeup bag so it's 4 out of 5 from me.
I have been blessed with quite long and naturally dark eyelashes, which is great from a daytime perspective as my eyes look defined without the need for mascara. However, the problem I had for years was finding mascara that I could wear for dramatic evening eyes that (a) did not make me look like Minnie Mouse or (b) did not make me look like I had hairy spider's legs for eyelashes! I finally discovered Boots No 7 Extreme Length Mascara, and have not touched another mascara since.
My mascara tube is copper coloured and tapers nicely making it easy to hold while you are applying the mascara. The wand is lime green and plastic with short closely spaced bristles. These I find work really well with my eyelashes, as they do not hold a lot of mascara so you can gradually build up the effect through a couple of applications. Currently, I think Boots are selling this in a black or white tube, for £12.
This mascara does not seem to be able to create and hold a curl on its own, at least not with my lashes but they are dead straight, so I tend to curl my eyelashes first and then apply a coat of the mascara to the underside of my top lashes only. I find this gives a natural-looking finish. It adds a lot of volume without being too thick, and is not too sticky so I have never had an issue with my eyelashes clumping together. It adds quite a lot of length, a bit too much for my eyelashes actually, so I do not apply it all the way to the ends of my eyelashes otherwise they are too long - for those of you looking for a mascara that adds length, I can tell you that it actually works! The only negative is that I find it takes a little longer to dry after applying it than other mascaras.
This was another birthday present I recieved and although I wouldnt say it lengthens my lashes its definitly the best mascara I've used in some time.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The mascara comes in a bronze tube. The designs pretty simple, it has the No7 logo in black on the lid and on the tube the products name. The brush is thin and spiky.
HOW IS IT ON?
This isnt a mascara I can apply with one or two sweeps, for me it definitly needs a few goings over to achieve the right affect.
My favourite thing about this mascara is theres no clumping or sticking together of lashes like I've had with so many other mascaras. It definitly defines the lashes individually.
I also think that if i dont curl my lashes it doesnt make a huge amount of difference, the mascara definitly lifts them slightly.
I wouldnt say it lengthens them anymore than any other mascara I've used. It doesnt give a show stopping look so I'd reccomend this mascara for every day use rather than for a night out.
Its hypo allergenic so is also great for sensitive eyes.
It claims its waterproof, this I'm not so sure of. If ive jumped in the shower in the evening i definitly have had badger like eyes after stepping out. I also dont think it has a lasting effect, If i applied it early in the morning and was going somewhere later in the evening I'd definitly have to re apply.
Some waterproof mascaras are a little hard to remove (tip for girls who struggle with this: vaseline is great for removing- advice courtesy of my step mum who used to work as barry Ms accountant and is an expert on all things cosmetic) but if im redoing my makeup and want to start fresh a simple go over with one of my sons baby wipes removes it fine.
It goes for £12, although this is slightly expensive for a mascara I'd say its worthit, all the cheaper ones Ive used have ended up clumping or making my eyelashes stick together. It may be worth buying them when you have a 3 for 2 voucher.
I wear make up on a daily basis and if I am going out for the evening then I tend to remove my make up, have a bath or shower and then re-apply my make up when I am getting ready to go out for the evening. This means that foundation and mascara is definitely the most commonly replaced item in my make up bag and I normally have one or two on the go at any one time too just for some variety. If I have minimum time for applying make up I am able to always find time to apply foundation and mascara just to ensure that my skin looks lovely and my eyes are larger in appearance.
Mascara is something that can be very hit and miss as it is either too clumpy or too runny. If I find a bad mascara then it is something that goes to waste and I cannot use again so I tend to stick to brand names that I know and that have given me good performance in the past. I do like to try something new though and that is how I ended up with this No 7 extreme length mascara. I have had this waiting for a little while in my bathroom cabinet because I picked it up when using a £5 off No 7 voucher and so it cost me around £7.00 instead of £12.00.
This mascara comes in a pretty gold tube and it looks lovely. As always with mascara, well all the ones I've ever tried, you unscrew the lid and there is a brush built in to the wand. This wand feels smooth and comfortable in my hand and it is very simple to use too. There is a navy part of this wand that looks cute and the brush has lots of bristles which are quite fine in thickness yet work fantastically on my lashes. The wand is lightweight to hold which feels quite unusual as I'm sure most wands are much heavier than this. This is light on my lashes and doesn't cause any of my lashes to fall out at all. The mascara goes on to the brush with ease and transfers to my lashes smoothly without lots of clumps or any uneven coverage. The mascara doesn't drip off the wand at all and it isn't incredibly thick either. It dries quickly which means if I sneeze while getting ready that my eye make up isn't completely ruined.
My eye lashes are quite long anyway but they are not very defined so as well as wanting a lengthening mascara, just for extra impact, I like one that is going to thicken and define my lashes as much as possible. I am not worried about waterproof qualities because I am not much of a crier. This mascara works fantastically at defining my lashes and lengthening them too. There aren't lots of clumps to deal with, just the odd one or two now and again from overfilling the brush and not wiping it while removing it, but I can live with that. One coat of this mascara is enough but I do like a second just to ensure a nice thick coverage that is going to last all day - and it does!
When it comes to removing this mascara I just use my normal eye make up remover and it works a charm. I don't have to overly scrub at my eyes to remove this which is always a blessing for mascara and I would definitely recommend this. I am going to rate this mascara 5 out of 5 stars just because it does wonders for my eyes and makes my lashes looked thickened and lengthened which really is all I need from a mascara. This mascara is waterproof, which isn't normally something that I worry about or actively look for, and I've only had one occasion to test this out where it upheld perfectly and didn't run down my face and leave me looking like a panda! There are several shades available but I opted for black, as I always do, as my lashes are very dark anyway and so a black compliments them perfectly. I really have nothing bad to say about this mascara and would definitely purchase it again.
I recently had a clear out in my make-up bag. The gentlemen reading this won't understand the implications behind that statement but the ladies reading it will realise that it means emptying it out (onto a towel, of course!), rifling through long forgotten items that have been lurking in the bottom of the bag for so long that you didn't know they were there, still deciding to keep them anyway and ending up with a bag just as full as when you started only slightly cleaner and more organised inside! At least I hope that most women recognise this scenario and it's not just me!
Considering that I don't actually wear that much make-up on a day to day basis I was astonished at how much I had in there (particularly considering I also have an 'overflow drawer' in my bedside cabinet. I knew there were a couple of mascaras lurking in there as that is one thing that I wear every day. Having red hair, blue eyes and very pale skin means that my eyebrows and eyelashes are non-existent without some form of cosmetic enhancement so it's a very rare day that sees me without mascara on. But when I had them all lined up on the bed I was ever so slightly surprised to discover I had no less than seven, yes 7, tubes of mascara hidden in my not even particularly large make-up bag. How do these things happen???
One that I found - and have since been using up - was a tube of the No 7 Extreme Length mascara. My old tube still resembles the picture shown above but I've since been back and bought a replacement and the packaging has now changed to a black tube, or a dark navy tube, I can never decide what colour the No 7 range of packaging is. But I'll review the old tube seen as it's the one pictured above.
AVAILABILITY AND PRICE
Obviously with it being a No 7 product it is only available from either Boots online or in store but, equally as it's a Boots own product, it can be found in most of their stores, even the smaller ones (which I am usually limited to, living in a very small town). It retails at £12.00 which is much more than I consider satisfactory for an item of make-up since the mortgage came along but at the moment is on a 3 for 2 offer, which I took full advantage of. You can also save money on it by using one of the many £5 off vouchers that Boots seem to give out hand over fist (why don't they just reduce the price of the No 7 range by £5??) and, of course, Advantage points can also be collected when purchasing. As I bought mine on a special event weekend I also managed to get 10 points per pound rather than the usual 4 so felt like I'd got even more of a bargain!
The tube is like most other mascara tubes and is made from a bronzey coloured plastic, standing just under 5 inches tall. The top, which houses the mascara wand, screws off easily and inside the wand is bright green. I'm not sure why the decision was made to make it green but hey ho!The tube simply states that it is Extreme Length on the front and on the back tells us that it contains 7ml of product and that it "Grips and extends each lash for maximum length and eye opening definition". It is also hyp-allergenic. According to the Boots website there are only two colours available in this mascara, black or brown/black, although I thought I'd seen more in store, but I could be wrong on that. Anyway, I have it in the brown/black colour as I use it for every day wear and want something more subtle and tend to save pure black ones for evening wear normally.
Using the mascara is simple and like any other mascara. Starting at the roots of your eyelashes you just zigzag the wand through to the tips of your lashes, gradually working your way along the eye and then do the same on the lower lashes (with your eyes wide open, your mouth wide open and your tongue poking out if you're anything like me!). The actual wand on this is quite narrow at the end and has fewer, quite hard plastic bristles as opposed to the brushes that are jampacked with softer bristles. I don't find this to be a problem and find this particular mascara very easy to apply. Because the bristles aren't jampacked together I find that this mascara doesn't tend to clump on the wand as badly as it does with others I've used.
One thing I don't like about the wand/brush, however, is that it feels quite flimsy and the actual brush part at the end bends very easily. Whether this is intentional and somehow magically makes your lashes look longer or whether it's a design flaw I don't know, but personally I don't like it.
Having said that, I've never had any problems when applying this mascara so the wand must do something right. It doesn't clump on my lashes or make them stick together. It's not so thick to apply that you end up with one great big mono-lash, nor is it so thin and runny that you need to apply numerous layers. For every day use I tend to just sweep the wand through my lashes a couple of times and that's all that's needed to give even, non-clumpy coverage.
So does this mascara live up to its Extreme Length name? In a word, yes. I really like this mascara and think that it does make my lashes look longer. Whilst I wouldn't necessarily use the work 'extreme' they do look and feel longer after using this. Another aspect that I like is that it seems to define the individual lashes which really does help give that "eye opening definition" and makes me feel like I look wide awake (for a change!), rather than some mascaras which can seem to make the lashes look thicker. Whilst on an evening out I do prefer a more dramatic look, when it comes to every day casual wear I much prefer my make-up to look natural and barely there and so the consistency of this mascara, along with the definition and the more natural (for me) colour of brown/black, really helps me achieve this.
I never opt for waterproof mascara (except once by accident when in a rush!) because I find them much harder to remove and as I wear contact lenses I don't like to have to scrub my eyes too much. This Extreme Length mascara, whilst staying put all day long without needing any re-application, is very easy to remove and I just use my normal routine - this consists of either a cream cleanser (followed by toner and moisturiser) on the days I'm being a good girl, or facewipes on the days that I'm being bad lazy girl. Both of these products are just Nivea ones but both remove all traces of the mascara easily - although as I can really get the edge of my finger under a wipe I usually find these a more effective way of removing it than a piece of cotton wool.
A quick side not worth mentioning is that I've never had a problem with this mascara affecting my eyes in any way. I don't think I have particularly sensitive eyes anyway, but this has never caused any itching or redness, so I can only assume it's hypo-allergenic claims are correct.
Well, if you couldn't tell by the fact that I've recently been and bought another of these mascaras, I love this. I think it's great for every day wear as it looks natural whilst still giving colour, definition and extra length to my lashes. Whilst at full rrp I think it's expensive and more than I would want to pay really, if that's the kind of money you spend on this kind of product then it's definitely worth a look. If it's not the kind of money you would usually spend, then stock up while it's on offer or when you have a voucher. I've now tried several of the No 7 mascaras and have been impressed with them all (although have been equally impressed with my Number 17 mascara too) and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I feel like I should knock off a star for the price, but as it can frequently be found on offer and Boots seem to be very generous in handing out their £5 off vouchers, then it can usually be picked up at a much more reasonable price, so the star stays!
I HAD to write a review about this mascara! When Boots have 3 for 2 on their No7 products i buy three of these mascaras!
My mascara is the most important make up item to me, i could not live without it, so obviously finding the best one for me was extremely important. I wear contact lenses so i have to be careful which products i apply to my eye lashes, normally i have to buy 'sensitive' mascaras but this one does not irritate my eyes or lenses.
I have quite short lashes naturally but this mascara transforms them right from the first coat. It is honestly like magic watching them almost double in length! The brush separates each lash beautifully and no matter how many coats i apply, no clumps form. It only takes about 3 coats to achieve really dramatic lashes.
I work as a dog groomer in an extremely hot and humid environment and this mascara does not budge, even though it isn't the waterproof one. I don't get that panda look under my lower lashes like i have done from using other mascaras.
Another thing i like about this mascara is how easy it is to wash off.
I love this mascara, it really does do everything it promises, which i find is very rare!
About 2 Christmas's ago I got a free sample of this as a present! It was only around 5ml but it lasted me up until a few weeks back.
The mascara comes in a long thin gold tube, with the name of the mascara wrote on the front.
It has a gold twist off lid with the No7 logo on.
If you look at the wand its bright green ( underneath the mascara, you can make it out! ), has a very thin little brush at the end with lots of little bristles.
I have raved about this mascara to many people, because it truly is a good mascara for those who want a nice natural look.
I think the mascara is a bit expensive, around £12.00, but if you go into Boots often you will know that you often get 5 pound off vouchers so you can use these and then it works out a lot cheaper.
Mine was in black and when I used the mascara the intenseness of the black was amazing, it was so dark yet very natural and looked amazing on my eyelashes.
The wand is very nice too, it glides along your lashes and separates them gently, making sure each one is individually defined, it gives such a natural effect.
The mascara doesn't clump and the amount of mascara always on the wand is always perfect, always just the right amount and I find it does both my eyes easily without needing to be put back in.
Even though the actual brush isn't the biggest it really works your eyes and makes it easier to get into more places, usually I struggle to get into the inside corner of my eyes even with a curved brush so its weird being able to do it with a straight brush!
The brush also adds lift to my eyelashes, so I dont need to use an eyelash curler to help bring them upwards and make my eyes look more wide and awake.
One coat is usually enough for me and it dries instantly when on your eyes.
I have been complimented lots on how lovely and natural and how awake I look with this mascara on, I find myself wanting another one and I am extremely tempted even though I have no monies! but it lasted me ages, didn't dry out and made my eyes look drop dead gorgeous.
I recommend this mascara to those wanting a natural eye look, its great.
I like to wear make up most days but especially if I am going out for the day because I just do not feel dressed without make up when I am out because I am so fair skinned, I look ill and have no colour at all, so a little help with make up helps me to feel a little better about myself so that I do not scare people lol.
I buy different brands of mascara because I like a change and also so that I can have the chance to try different ones but the latest one I tried was this one from no 7 because I had a £5 voucher to use for this range and so I chose this mascara since I had not bought it before. I chose this one because the assistant told me that it is a much better one for my length of eye lashes because they are very long. I was looking for one that gave my lashes the look because the previous mascara I bought and was using just wasn't giving me the results that I expect from a mascara. I own quite a few and tend to switch between them all so that I have not wasted any money on the ones that I have found not so suitable.
This one comes in a very attractive gold colour tube, it has a screw off wand of which is very easy to twist, the tube and top is kind of a flatter shape compared to the usual round ones. It feels very comfortable to hold this one and I find it is very easy to keep a more steady hand when applying the mascara. The wand inside has a navy stem, the colour I chose was the black. At the end of the wand is the brush, it is a really long length with very small, fine bristles. The wand feels very lightweight and at first I thought it may not be so suitable because I am used to a more heavy weighted wand. For some silly reason I thought it would not give the effect that I wanted because of the weight but I was so wrong. I do not know why I actually thought it may not work but it is probably because some of the very cheap brands are more lighter.
The brush is really gentle on the lashes, it feels comfortable and the liquid does not drip and is not too thick, it is just the perfect consistency for a mascara. The liquid brushes onto the lashes very evenly with no problems at all. It does not clog onto the lashes at all. It also dries very quickly and I always like to apply 2 coats because I have always done that when using mascara. It does however look just as nice with just one coat but with 2 I tend to find it looks just that little bit more a stronger look. The lashes separate to give a really nice look for the lashes and to enhance the eye make up. As I said earlier in my review I do have very long lashes and so this one works well for them to look nice and to enhance them a little more.
It is also very easy to remove, I just use a eye remover on a cotton pad or I just use a facial wipe to remove it. Both ways I have found it comes away from my lashes perfectly without tugging or harming them in any way. It does not take a long time and in a few minutes or so the mascara is completely free from my lashes. I wore this mascara on a recent visit when I went to see some friends who live in a different part of the country and when I said my goodbyes I had a little cry in the car because I tend to be a little sentimental sometimes when I say goodbye to someone who I know I will not be seeing again for quite some time and who I love. This mascara held well and when I cried it did not run from my lashes onto my face and make it look a mess. It was a good tester I guess to see how well it performed as a waterproof mascara.
I have found this one does not irritate my eyes at all, it is a waterproof mascara and it certainly extends each lash to give the maximum length it possibly can for the lashes. For a 7ml tube it cost £12.50 but as I said earlier in my review I had a voucher so I paid a lot less for it and a bargain. it is also comes in a brown/black colour to suit a different colour you may prefer if you fancy a change as I often do or if you prefer a different shade to just the black and want one with a combination of both brown and black together. I don't always buy just a black colour and so the choice can for a nice change. It is also available in the non waterproof.
I highly do recommend this mascara if you are looking for a good one with staying power because this one does not need a top up during the day because it holds very well on the lashes. I think even at the full price I would definitely buy it again in the future because I just think it is worth the price tag. It gives me all the results that I expect from a mascara and it makes the lashes look much longer and a very good even look on the lashes.
I give this one 5 stars.
Also on Ciao under my username Pinky50.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
This mascara is one of the best lengthening ones I have found on the market and at a reasonable price too! It has a long, thin brush with tiny brissles that allow you to really get deep into the root and all the way to the outside of the top and bottom lashes. The formula of the mascara itself is a very fine consistency and doesn't appear to clump however much product you get on the brush. If you like and want to achieve volumised lashes then this certainly isn't for you. However, if you want fanned out, evenly separated, lengthened lashes then this is definately for you! Perfect for an everyday look when you still want your eyes to be defined. Looks great with just one simple coat for a very natural look or can be easily layered to create a more dramatic, fanned out effect. It costs £20.50 for 7ml which I think is reasonable for a mascara that actually lives up to what it claims to do. Altogether a real pleasure to use.
Women like to look their best and now I can wear eye products again (I suffered with viral conjunctivitus for a couple of years whilst working in a health centre!) I often apply a little Mascara to add some definition to my pale eyelashes. So far though I haven't had to buy any Mascara as I have a selection of cosmetics received as free gifts when buying other Boots No & products.
I wondered how many years women had worn Mascara and discovered that a similar substance was used 4000BC to darken eyelashes. I'm so glad things have improved as things like charcoal, soot and crocodile stool were mixed with honey and water to form kohl. Make-up was not popular in the West until the Victorian era when due to the lack of Crocodile stools they mixed ash and elderberry juice to form a dark colour which was applied to the lashes. In the nineteenth century Eugene Rimmel developed a product and around that time across the Atlantic A man created something similar for his sister Maybel - and so Maybelline cosmetics began. This was a rather messy form of mascara made with coal and petroleum jelly, and soon a better alternative was developed. I remember my sister having a little rectangular container with a tiny brush which needed dampening and most women stuck it in their mouths(YUK!) and then rubbed it on the hard mascara. Eventually a tube of mascara was designed and a little rod like brush became popular.
The No 7 Extreme length Mascara tube is quite small - just 9cm in length and a lovely metallic bronze colour. My tube being a free gift is smaller, normally it containd 7ml, mine is only 4.5mls.Boots No 7 make several types of Mascara, but the brush in this one is different from others, apart from it having a luminous green rod, it has fairly firm minute bristles, which don't seem to pick up a lot of the mascara, but obviously do as I can apply to both my eyes without re-dipping. As mentioned earlier I have very fair eyelashes, but a couple of applications and my eyelashes look great and really long. Much longer than with other mascaras and it keeps the lashes separate. The brush seems really flexible and helps in getting into the corners easily. Boots suggest you begin by massaging the brush at the roots of the lashes and zigzag your way up to the tips. I wasn't sure how to massage with a brush , so just did gentle applications over and over again!
It lasted all day when applied in a morning, which is what you want, especially for people like me who wear glasses and have to get close to a mirror to see to apply mascara! My only niggle was that it was quite hard to remove. I usually just use a general Boots No 7 cleanser, but had to use the special one for removing eye make-up and even that didn't remove it all. I wiped my eyelashes several times until I was afraid I would make my eyes sore, so some was left on overnight. Next morning a few flakes were on my face and it had all dropped off overnight, leaving my eyelashes clean. I haven't cried when wearing this so don't know how waterproof it is apart from the difficulty in removing it!
This is a brilliant mascara if you want to get longer lashes and it keeps them all separate. On the tube it says "Grips and extends each lash for maximum length and eye openingdefinition." And it certainly does that.
Available in Black or Brown Black and costing £12.50, this is one product I would buy again, or use my Boots points for a freebie!
Well before my beloved Boots No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara (previously reviewed) came on the scene I used to always use a No7 Mascara's. My second favourite being Boots No7 Extreme Length Mascara, I've never really been let down by their mascara's they just seem to get better and better.
Boots No7 Extreme Length Mascara 7ml:
'Open your eyes to incredibly intense, fluttering lashes with our Extreme Length Mascara. Its smooth formula is perfect for building up your lashes without any clumps.'
How Boots recommend you to use - "Begin by massaging the brush at the roots of your lashes, then zig zag up to the tips to achieve maximum length and definition"
I first tried this mascara over a year a go I had received a £5.00 off voucher and in-need of a new one the assistant suggested I give this one a try; as I already have a good set off lashes so giving them some needed length would give them that flirtatious appeal.
When I first applied this mascara I was quiet surprised it actually made them look almost twice as long, it did however need two coats to get that effect but well worth it. I applied just how they suggested and on the first coat it just made my lashes dark, but on the second coat the extra length really kicked in.
The brush was a little different from some of the No7 mascaras it was rather flexible and thinner. When applying the brush it really gripped on to my lashes giving me separate lashes without any clumping; even reaching the smaller lashes around my eyes and each were all very even looking. It made each individual lash stand straight so an eye lash curler was needed which I didn't mind.
Once applied and curled I loved the effect it gave to my eyes, as my lashes were longer it some how made my eye's look larger. One thing I wasn't as keen on as I normally like them to look thicker/fuller I didn't really get that from this mascara, but still a nice looking set of lashes. A good thing about this mascara is that it does dry really fast which is good as at least two coats are needed.
As with most No7 products this has amazing staying power, I would apply around 7am for work come back home around 5:30pm and still looking like I just applied. Some mascara's I've know in the past can leave crumbs of mascara around your eyes, this one stayed put and didn't flake.
One thing that can put me off mascaras is the smell and lucky this one doesn't smell too bad I think it has a mild kind of alcohol scent to it, but once applied you can't smell this at all only when you smell inside the tube itself.
I do like the appearance of this mascara in a copper coloured tube and when you pull the brush out its green, which happens to be my favourite colour. It does look higher end make up as does with most of the No7 range.
When it comes to removing this mascara I find it really easy and a baby wipe normally does the trick, when cleaning off the mascara at this point it really smudges all around the eyes but after a few seconds of wiping it's soon erased.
For a more of a natural looking mascara then this is great, perfect infact but for me personally I would like a fuller look to my lashes.
Price and Availability:

This mascara comes in two colours, black and black-brown both costing £12.50 each. Since purchasing this they now also do a water-proofed version costing the same.
This mascara gave great results in making my lashes look longer and longer looking in a natural way. My only down point was it didn't give me that fuller look, but then it didn't say that on the tube! It did what it said it was going to do. The black one is perfect and really does darken lashes well; I have also found that the brown-black is perfect when you're going for that more natural look.
I would recommend this mascara if you do have a fuller set of lashes as this will give them the wow factor length, but an eye lash curler is needed as they seem to go really straight once applied.
Four out of five stars from me.
Thanks for reading ;o)
A mascara tip I found out during my make-over - I always thought mascara had a 12 month self life but infact when it comes to make they are part of a few that have a shorter shelf life. I was told that you should only keep mascara for a maximum of 6 months and to ensure it lasts you that long don't keep pumping the wand in and out as you're only exposing the product to drying air. Also never share your mascara with anyone else, the brush harbors germs really easily and will transfer to your own eyes.

Along with a multitude of other goodies I received a blue version of this mascara in a recent Boots No7 promotion. I really like the 360 degree No7 mascara sample I received not long ago so had high hopes for this one.
The mascara tube is an attractive bronzey/gold colour with the standard, modern looking black lettering found on all No7 packaging. On unscrewing the top the brush is bright green which caught my attention!! I don't suppose it'll stay that way for long but for now I'm liking it! The brush itself is quite small and spikey. The bristles aren't overly long (all the same length) but are well spaced so on first look I assumed it would provide good seperation and definition of lashes. The mascara colour I received was 'Intense Sapphire' which is a medium blue in the tube. Not something I would pay full price for but a nice change to my usual brown/black I thought.
Whilst applying the mascara I found the brush was small enough to reach all the tiny lashes in the corner of my eye that normally cause me a problem. It was easy to get right down to the roots of my lashes too so each lash got a really good coating and looked fuller and thicker for this. I was disappointed that the brush didn't help to seperate my lashes like I thought it might. I nearly always use a lash comb after my mascara anyway so this wasn't a big problem for me. Not great for those without a lash comb though.
The actual mascara is quite thick, much thicker than the mascaras I usually tend towards. I think this must be just one of those things with lengthiening mascaras, all the brands I've tried have been thick. The colour was much brighter in the tube than it looked when applied to my lashes which I was relieved about! Instead of looking 'Pat Butcher-ish' the colour was subtle and I'd definitely consider purchasing coloured mascaras again after trying this one.
Once applied the mascara dried quickly and I was amazed at the apparent increase in the length of my lashes. They really do look extremely long! Not only that but I came downstairs and (I had no other make-up on at all) the first thing my Mum said to me was "Wow, you've got make-up on. And you're eyelashes look super long!" Absolutely no word of a lie! Not only did she notice how long my eyelashes were but the mascara alone made her think I was made-up - I love it! She didn't believe me when I told her it was blue though, not until she was peering at me from 6" away, which I was both a little pleased and disappointed with. The only wow I thought I'd get from anyone was for being brave enough to try blue mascara!
I've read some of the other reviews for this product and was suprised and the general lack of enthusiasm. I don't know if Boots have recently improved the formula or something but I was definitely very impressed and would gladly pay the £12 for a full size tube. Once again No7 have done a fabulous job!
I'm always on the look out for newer mascaras that can work better than the last one so I decided to give this one a go since other products have been good.
This mascara is available at boots a 7ml size for £12 and collect 48 points.
You can get it in the colour black or brown black, the one I will be reviewing is the black.
It comes in a kind of brown coloured tube and the wand is a lime colour. It says No7 extreme length on the tube. It of course has the twisty top lid!
It is also available in waterproof for the same price as the normal.
Using the product
Like all mascaras it says its non clumpy which I can actually say is very true with this one, I've never had a problem with clumps, it lifts and lengthens really well.
I actually don't use this mascara on its own I need to use another make with it to make my eyelashes thicker - it only applies a really thin layer.
The shape of the wand and size means you can add more to each lash on its own without smudging everywhere.
Its a good mascara for day wear on its own depending on what look you like to achieve from it.
The colour doesn't go on that dark which I usually like since my eyelashes are light colour.
It doesn't add extreme length to your lashes sadly.
I think its a bit pricey for the make and the fact I can't use it by itself.
Has a good application but just not thick enough or dark enough for me.
I can't remember the last time I actually bought mascara. See, I always fall for those offers in Boots where you spend £22 on No7 and get a free little pack of samples. For one thing, these samples usually come in a cute and useful little jewellery wrap or makeup bag, and without fail, they contain mascara.
A while ago I received in one of these packs a sample of Extreme Length mascara. I've just read on another review that this mascara costs £12, so I have to say I am pretty happy that I got a free sample instead of actually paying for this mascara, which is definitely not the best I have ever used.
Firstly, the brush is a bright green, spiky thing which I guess is meant to separate your lashes. It does do this, but unfortunately it is very difficult to use. I wouldn't be able to count the number of times the little spikes poked me in the eye, especially when trying to get the corner lashes. I found this brush incredibly uncomfortable to use, and would also end up making a mess while trying to apply it.
In addition, while it's pretty good mascara, I didn't find that it created extreme length, or even any noticeable extra length whatsoever. While darker and more defined, I don't really feel it made my lashes look any longer than usual. I'm quite lucky in that they are fairly long to begin with, but I definitely would have expected more of a result than this, particularly because I'm a fan of most No7 products.
Also, I have slightly sensitive eyes, not to the extent that most eye makeup causes me any problems, but I found this mascara constantly irritated my eyes. I noticed a difference as soon as I switched so it was definitely the mascara.
Overall, it's not a terrible product, the black version is a very nice black and gives an okay result. I just don't think it is an impressive enough result to justify the cost of a full sized version of this mascara, and when coupled with the fact that the brush and the mascara itself both really irritated my eyes, I think it's safe to say this free sample has not convinced me to buy a tube again.
