Advantages: Nice looking bottle
Disadvantages: Doesn't stay perfect at all
I had a voucher for £5 off any No 7 product (which is a regular promotion), so I bought this 10ml nail varnish bringing the price of it down to £1.25, which is good value and about what this product is worth.
I bought the Temptress (100) shade, which is the darkest shade of red available. From the outside this looks like a sultry crimson, (perfect for a dramatic finish on a saturday night out) but when I applied the first coat, I was extremely disappointed to be left with a dark pinkish finish. The varnish is really thin, and not that easy too apply as its so runny, it all seemed to flow to the edges of the nail. I left it to dry for half an hour and applied a second coat, which did leave me close to the desired colour, but still not as dark as I would have liked.
Within two hours, I already had chips on the ends of my nails, so I applied third coat which took at least an hour to dry, and even then I felt as though I didn't want to touch anything, which was quite hard when trying to get ready to go out!
By morning, I had so many chips that I had to take it off, and to give it due, it comes off really easily with nail varnish remover. I was left with dark stains on my nails but I would expect this from any dark varnish without using a base coat first. To cover the stains, and to give this product a second chance, I painted them again with the same varnish. This time I applied two coats and a top coat but I still had to touch up daily, especially the tips, which seemed to wear off rather than chip away.
I had this on for five days in total, and when I could no longer touch up, I took it off, but my nails felt really weak, and four started to split. Although I can not be 100% definite, I'm sure that this is down to the varnish, as I have never experienced this before. It has taken me weeks to grow my nails back to a nice condition. I won't be touching this varnish again, and I would never recommend it. I'm just glad that I didn't pay the full price for it.
In conclusion, this varnish isn't the colour I wanted, barely lasted five minutes, and ruined my nails. On the plus side, its a really styilsh bottle and thats about it!
Summary: Don't bother, there are much better products available
