Advantages: lovely shimmering colour, can be purchased cheaply with voucher

Disadvantages: Needs a top coat or will chip easily on fingers

My friend bought me a No 7 stay perfect nail polish to go with my Christmas present last year. Whilst I have bought the polishes for other people this was the first one that I had been bought for myself and so I was looking forward to trying it.

Firstly I have to say that for me the bottle just looks more expensive and classy than most of the other brands which are on the market. This product uses a tall thin bottle which has a long black lid and gold writing which really compliments each other. The colour that my friend bought for me is called Damson dreams and it is, as you can imagine, a deep purple colour which shimmers slightly. The colour quite reminds me of Quality Street actually! There are many colours in the No 7 range though and so I am sure there would be something to suit everyone.

When you unscrew the lid you have the long brush which is attached to the cap. The brush is a good size and it takes around three strokes to cover my nail on my thumb. The polish goes on well although I find that it certainly needs two coats to get a deep and even finish. I do really like how the polish shimmers whilst in certain lights whilst it is on my nails as well.

The first coat takes around ninety seconds to dry but the second coat takes a few minutes because it is going on top of another layer. This is the case with all nail polishes in my experience and so I have come to expect this really.

The polish is named stay perfect and here is where I have a little bit of an issue. If I apply the varnish without a top coat I will usually find that the day after my nails have already chipped at the tops of my nails. Whilst this is the case for me with most nail polishes because I am always cleaning and washing up at home it seems a little bit naughty to say it stays perfect. If I do apply a clear top coat though I can usually get around three days out of this polish on my finger nails and much longer if I use it on my toes.

I believe these nail polishes cost around six pounds which granted isn't cheap at all for a nail polish, especially one which seems to last a similar amount of time to other cheaper ones. However, Boots are always giving away £5 off No 7 vouchers and so if you apply it to a nail polish you are getting a very good deal in my opinion. I also think they make a lovely gift too.

Thank you for reading my review!

Summary: Not bad, good if you get a bargain!
