I've waited a long while to write a review of these because I wanted a good feel of them. Well, now I have a good review!
I have purchased 4:
Smooch - nude colored
Snowcone - shimmery light pink
Coralista - bright orange
Sugar Plum - brown with redish undertones
My favorite is definitely snowcone. It's one I can casually wear everyday.
Smooch, I actually just bought a few days ago and I'm slightly disappointed. I guess I should have payed more attention because it's such a creamy nude and looks like I have no lip color. Like it's my skin.
Coralista was something I bought to play with during the summer and I actually love it! It's so different but not something to wear all the time.
Lastly, sugar plum. I really liked this color but so did my mother and she got away with it. But they're so affordable I can buy another one.
Coralista and smooch are a little bit more of a dry formula unlike snowcone and sugarplum which are more moisturizing.
I love the smell!! They smell so sweet and yummy in the tube but not on your lips.
These are honestly my favorite lip sticks besides the Revlon Lip Butters. Definitely give these a try! You're not losing much if you don't like them. i assure you you will never be dissapointed iwth such quality lipsticks they are truly a godsend and you need to get these not only are they affordable they are terrifific
I've never been a big lipstick wearer so when I decided to buy some I didn't want to spend much money because I didn't know how much use it was going to get. So I went along to my local superdrug and this is where I stumbled across NYC expert last lipstick, and at a bargain price of £1.99 I couldn't resist!
I was looking for quite a light pinky colour and eventually chose the 411- snowcone shade. I have a very fair complexion and this colour suited it just perfectly, without looking like I had piled on the make up. If you want an even lighter colour I found if you dab a little bit on your finger and rub it on your lips, it works very well as a lip stain as well.
At such a cheap price I though the colour wouldn't last very long, but I was pleasantly surprised. I wore it out for a meal and even though it wasn't completely visible after, my lips were still a lighter pinker shade.
The only problem I had with this lipstick is the packaging. The lid of the lipstick often falls off in my handbag and make up bag. This has got lipstick all over the insides and has damaged the actual stick where it is being bashed against other items.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend, however I would advise they put a bit of sellotape on the lid to keep it on and to protect the product.
When I caught myself browsing nail polish yet again in Superdrug, I decided to take myself out out of the area before I succumbed to temptation. On my way, I overheard two ladies discussing a new £1.99 lipstick from NYC so I went along to the stand and had a look. There was about a dozen colours to choose from and a bright but not traffic stopping pink caught my eye. This was "Airkiss", which I ended up buying without using a tester as none were available. [The staff said they were still waiting to recieve those but they should be available later on, as the line is relatively new.] It proved to be a bit brighter a colour than I anticipated but was it a bargain at the low price it sells for?
I have liked many of the NYC cosmetics that I have tried over the last couple of years. They are a good value brand and I have noticed that some products actually seem to be cheaper now than when I first tried them out. You can buy their make up in Superdrug although my nearest store is quite small and doesn't stock it at all. The selling point of the Expert Last lipstick is, unsurprisingly, that it lasts longer - up to 6 hours according to NYC themselves. They also say it will be moisturising and "comfortable" to wear. As for the last point, I should hope so! I had a choice of around 12 colours to choose from, but I suspect some branches would offer more as there seems to be a greater selection depicted on NYC's website. They cover everything from pillar box red, through soft pink to delicate peaches.
The lipsticks themselves do not look as though they cost a lot of money, which is fair enough considering the fact that they don't. The plastic tubes are all a gaudy red with a clear lid that feels flimsy. I can't say there is anything practically wrong with the tube - it winds up easily and the lid clicks shut firmly even if doesn't feel very substantial.
FEEL NICE TO APPLY?
I was impressed straight away by the smooth and creamy texture of the lip colour. It doesn't drag on the lips but glides quickly over the surface. The top is neatly contoured so it is easy to fill your lips in and it compares well to any lipstick on that point. Being slightly soft textured means I have felt that the lippie is wearing down faster than some however. I have had it about 3 weeks, and haven't worn it every day but when I have I've re-applied it more than once. [See below!] Nevertheless, I would say the lipsick is about has lost about a quarter of it's size.
IT IS CHEAP BUT IS IT CHEERFUL?
The resulting finish is not as glossy as I though it would be from the look of the lipstick in the tube. It isn't matte by any means but if you like real shine on your lips, you may have to add gloss. I am happy with the finish though, as it looks smooth and the pigment is really strong. I have to tone down the colour "Airkiss" because it is a bit too bright for me if I want to wear eye make up. On the other hand, if I want more focus on my lips, it is perfect. When I touch my lips together they feel soft and not sticky or waxy so the product scores well there too. I have found that some longer lasting listicks end up being quite drying, but this one is fine. I am not sure I would actualy call it moisturising though. It doesn't really leave my lips in any better condition than they were before.
The above may be because it doesn't actually last that long on the lips. It may be supposed to last up to 6 hours, but in my experience this estimate is far out. For one thing, it is not transfer proof, so you would have to go 6 hours without eating or drinking. If I have a coffee, the colour is practically invisible afterwards. Even without having a drink, I find that this fades within a few hours. It definitely isn't still in place by the time I get to lunch, if I put it on in the morning 4 hours earlier. What is worse, is the colour fades unevenly so frankly it looks a mess. I thought that maybe I had a dry patch or two on my lips that may have made that worse, even though they felt O.K. So I used a lip scrub but it had no effect on the lip colour sadly.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THE LIPSTICK?
I like the colour I selected but I wouldn't repurchase it. For me it isn't really a bargain lipstick as it fades too fast and therefore I need to keep applying it. So it won't last as long as other products which negates the low price a bit. I don't wear this to my desk job as it is a hassle to keep it looking presentable. So I have been using it up at home or at my other job where I don't meet the public! I would say that if you are looking for a bargain lipstick perhaps to try out a new shade for example, I would opt for one from Superdrug's MUA collection which cost just £1 but last longer for me. Otherwise, if you don't mind frequent application, I would say this is an O.K buy but don't get it for the so called "Expert Last". If that claim hadn't been made I would have rated the lipstick higher considering how cheap it is.
