“ Brand: NYX / Type: Eyeshadow „
I'd never even heard of the NYX brand until watching a video on Youtube recently where the person demonstrating the products likened them to MAC products at a fraction of the cost. These loose eye shadows were supposedly similar to MAC pigments and it looked quite impressive from the video so I thought they were worth a try.
As an American brand, I soon discovered it's quite hard to get hold of NYX products in this country and although have their own website (nyxcosmetics.com) they don't ship to the UK. I therefore bought mine from cherryculture.com at $1.50 each...bargain! The shipping is $9.95 to the UK for orders up to $50 which seems quite steep but if you're buying quite a few items it's really not too bad. There is a good choice of 30 colours and I bought the purple, silver, charcoal and mocha ones, along with a couple of the jumbo eye pencils. They estimate delivery time to the UK as 8-17 business days but I was really pleased to receive mine in just over a week.
The powders come in little dinky pots with black screw lids. The pots are transparent so you can see both the true colour of the powder, as well as how much you have remaining. The pots however have a tiny opening at the top that is impossible to fit my eye shadow brushes into so I therefore tap a bit out into the lid and use it that way.
I used the NYX eye shadow pencil in Milk before applying the powder. The eye pencil is amazing; I'm just waiting to for Dooyoo to do my product suggestion so I can review that too. The eye pencil acts as a base to eye shadows and really makes the colours "pop" and stand out. To use the powder I dab my brush in the lid where I've emptied a bit of the powder and tap off some of the excess so I don't end up with it all down my cheeks. The powder goes on smoothly and is really easy to apply and blend. They are really pigmented and the colours really do stand out. They leave quite a shimmery effect and over the top of the jumbo pencil they don't budge. I apply these in a morning and by the evening they are still there until I wipe them off with makeup remover.
I love that due to the large range of colours you can be as creative as you like, blending different colours for a dramatic look, but you can also use the more neutral colours for a subtle day time look that still brings attention to your eyes.
I have never tried MAC pigments so I can't compare but these work so well at a fraction of the cost I don't think I'll even bother trying MAC. I've always considered Barry M to do really good loose eyeshadow powders for a low price, but these work out even cheaper and in my opinion, are even more effective, so I've just put another order in with Cherry Culture for a few more to try.

NYX Ultra Pearl mania****
This is an American make up brand that aims to sell high quality make up products at affordable prices and as such they are often compared to mac cosmetics. I was attracted to the fact that their products seem to come in a bright range of colours whether it is their eye shadows or lipsticks .o
This comes in a round tub which is probably about the size of a 5p piece. The tub is see through which is good as you can see the colour through it and it has a black lid.
"loose pearl eye shadow that lets you sweep on intense colour in one easy application"
Omg what a understatement!! The colours are so pigmented i can totally understand why people compare these to mac. There is a reasonable amount available (25) and these are all really nice. I don't agree with the easy application though as the tubs are so small it can be quite hard to dab your eye shadow brush in them. They do last a full day and this is without primer potion which is pretty great.
**Availability and prices**
The full range is available at http://www.nyxcosmetics.com for $2.00 or shopcraze for $1.25
These are super pigmented and worth buying.
