Olay Complete Care Touch of Foundation
Advantages: Easy to apply, Covers up blemishes and moisturises well.
Disadvantages: Can feel slightly heavy on the skin at times.
I came across this in Tesco on a very late midnight shopping spree while searching for a facial moisturiser during my Acne treatment as I was very dry. I stared at the Olay products and remembered my sister saying how good this moisturiser was a couple of weeks before and it instantly went in the trolley. I chose the 'Medium' tint which in all honesty was a rip off - I paid £14.99 for this in Tesco and I've just seen it now on Amazon for only £6.60.... Shame on you Tesco! I did not mind paying that high price at the time as I was happy enough if it relieved me of the embarrassment of my scars for a little while after living with acne for so long.
The pot is a nice design being a rather average size for a moisturiser at 50ml, I think it's a fair amount and I find a pot lasts me a good month with daily use. The oval pot has a nice pump on the top which is smooth to operate and dispenses the moisturiser very nicely which saves wastage as it's easy to control and also saves the mess of a usual 'Dip your finger in' type of pot. The label does unfortunately cover the whole pot and you cannot see the contents inside which did worry me at first as I thought it may be too dark. A quick squirt from the pump confirmed that it was quite a dark one and I was worried until I applied it - At the end of the day I did not want people knowing that I was wearing makeup!
***Using the moisturiser ***
The moment of truth, the tinted moisturiser was on my finger and ready for application. When I first put it on I instantly noticed how smooth it was and it was slightly hard to spread but it eventually rubbed in. I did this without a mirror so I could notice the before and after results, my whole face was covered and even though it was slightly thick to spread I was surprised how little was needed to cover my whole face. To the mirror I went and lovely, my scars were hardly visible and it did not look too noticeable that I was actually wearing foundation - well a touch of it anyway.
The moisturiser is made by Olay and that instantly gives me the impression that it is good for your skin as my Gran swears by the stuff and her skin is fabulous. The moisturiser contains everything that your skin needs most but they do not actually say what is inside, well it might have done on the box it came in but that is long gone. It apparently provides 24 hours of moisture for your skin but obviously I wash my face more often than that so I cannot actually confirm it, I do not doubt that statement though as a twelve hour day for me is very comfortable when wearing the moisturiser and my skin does not dry out at all. It even has sun protection built in to SPF 15 - this is always nice to know and was handy when I went away a few months ago to Spain, my face did not burn at all but my body did showing that this must be doing its job. SPF 15 is rather low though so maybe it was just luck. I did notice that my face can tingle when sitting in the sun for a short while when wearing this product, it is a strange feeling that I have gotten used to over time but it may be annoying for some.
I find that my face feels very soft and refreshed when wearing this product and it certainly does cover up my scars. Luckily my scars are fading very quickly and I doubt I will need to use this product after my dermabrasion next month. I may continue to use it as it does definitely give us British Citizens a slightly healthier look as we unfortunately do not see very much sun in the UK - Well in Wales anyway. The moisturiser also evens the skin tone very well and it is bound to help you skin in the long run being full of nutrients that the skin loves.
I have noticed that after using this product for a while now that my skin is in a generally healthier condition when the moisturiser is washed off. My skin looks smoother and there are no signs of drying even without wearing this moisturiser for a few days. The touch of foundation definitely give my face a slight tint of light brown which is not noticeable at all, friends have commented on how much smoother my skin is looking and they have no idea that I'm actually wearing a touch of foundation, I don't think my parents have noticed either but they may have done by the mess I left in the bathroom one day. There is certainly not much of a scent to the product either but there is a strange smell that I can only describe as being musty, however this is very weak and is totally unnoticeable when wearing the product.
Washing the product off is very easy and it only requires a standard bar of soap or a facial wash of some kind. This is the easiest part and it is very much easier than applying, this can make a mess as I found out when drying my face. A lovely white towel was turned a shade of brown when I thought I had washed it all off, I obviously hadn't! Since that incident I have been washing it off trouble free and I have definitely got the hang of using this product now.
*** Any disadvantages? ***
This can be slightly messy to use as I found out. If you keep the pot in a bag for applying throughout the day you will probably find a mess later on. My pot did not come with a protective lid for when the moisturiser is not in use and I'm pretty sure that it should have done, maybe I was unlucky. The pump is easily activated and the contents of the pot will be dispensed with the slightest knock causing quite a mess, this is the only major downfall.
The only other slight disadvantage that I can think of is that it does feel slightly heavy while on the skin, it can get slightly sticky too in a warm climate which is a bit worrying as I don't want to go blotchy and end up in the same state as before I applied it! I must say that so far I have not noticed any blotches or unusual looking marks when on and it seems to do its job rather well. The moisturiser can also rub off very easily which can cause staining to light clothes and other furnishings so the face must not be touched with anything cloth throughout the day. Other than that I would say you cannot go wrong with this moisturiser except buying it from Tesco as they are well over priced, it could however have been a mistake and maybe it is now resolved.
Would I recommend this product to a friend? Yes! It's a very nice moisturiser that will cover up embarrassing marks and blemishes and provide more confidence like it did for me. It is easy and quick to apply and a pot lasts me ages. I think 4 stars is a very fair rating on this and it is definitely worth the price.
Thanks for reading
