“ Brand: Opia / Type: Eyeshadows / Suitable for: Eye „
I am always tempted into buying new make up and was on the look out for a choc brown eyeshadow to replace my old one. Whilst looking around my local Primark I noticed an eyeshadow with 4 shades of brown including the shade I was after. The price was £1.50 so I decided to pop one in my basket as it wouldn't break the bank.
The eyeshadow itself came with an applicator but I tend to use my own brushes. The colours in this eyeshadow pack are Cream, Light Brown, Choc Brown and White. One thing I will say is that it is very powdery so you have to tap quite a lot of the shadow off the brush otherwise it will end up under your eye which is not a good look!
It is easy to apply but the eyeshadow didn't last all day and not as long as some of the brand name eyeshadows I have used, but for the price I wasn't too upset. I was just happy that I found the right shade that I was looking for at that time. It did last longer than I thought it would and in the end you get what you pay for
I don't know if I would buy this eyeshadow again, maybe I would if I noticed it in Primark while I was shopping. However I wouldn't purposefully go in to buy it. I have had the odd bit of make up from Primark like clear lipgloss and it is perfectly fine for the money you pay.
If you don't want to pay for expensive make up this eyeshadow is a good buy, but there are better eyeshadows available. For example Collection 2000 also have good products but at cheaper prices.
If your familiar with Primark (as so many of us are!) you will be familiar that in most stores, by the tills there are several things to tempt you into a last minute purchase. Whether it be packs of socks or odd looking slipper shoe type things that are cheap as chips or some toiletries for a pound or of course pieces of make up (as in this case lol). All designed to make you think oh what's another quid my shopping will still only come to a about a fiver! lol
Well I only buy big brand make up as a rule. Call it snobbery but I'm 34 and nowadays I like a bit of class in my life. I care about what gunk I slap on my face and I care that I use the best products possible to give me a half decent look. I don't mind what I spend on decent stuff and it's one area I don't skimp on as I see cosmetics as an important part of my appearance. However like many on here I do like a bargain and at a pound for 3 shimmer dust eye-shadows that were pretty colours I succumbed!
Well as I just mentioned they come in a pack of 3 shimmer dusts for a £1. They come in a clear, plastic, hanging bag that is sealed and at the top there is a black band of colour that tells me they are 'Opia' and that is the make of the make up that Primark stock. I assume this brand is exclusive to Primark. Inside the bag are 3 glass bottles with black plastic screw on/off lids that all reveal small frosted white roller ball applicators. On the front of the bottle in black writing I'm told they are Opia, Shimmer Dust and the net weight is 0.063OZ/1.8g and the bottom of the bottle there is a black sticky label that gives contact details for Primark and you get told the batch number (no colour is stated though). All in all it's not bad packaging though if you store the bottles in with other other make in say a make up case the writing does scratch off quite easy but what is impressive is that all the colours match well together and inside the bottle there is a lot of colour indeed. Using these regular they could easily last over a year there is that much in them.
Well of course they are meant to be used as eyeshadow and simple this is to do. The roller ball is smooth and the product comes onto it with no mess or fuss and you simply direct it where you want it. It goes over your make up base easily and it doesn't flake anywhere because as I said it comes out via the roller ball and I like this about the product. It's nice that it's so easy and simple to use and I am in control of what I'm doing. The flow of product is excellent and not once has it clogged up or the roller has got stuck or anything like that. It works each and every time and is intelligent to how much product it releases. The powder is a tad moist so I don't get it everywhere and is silky to the touch.
The colours can of course be used singly or you can mix and match what you have or use them as a brow bone highlighter. They go over the top of other eye-shadows you may own with ease and I can't see why you couldn't use them as a cheek colour for a glitzy night out. They are very versatile.
However although the colours are highly pigmented with colour and contain nice pieces of glitter (that don't get everywhere or flake off) they don't 'set' very well. Touch they eyes and the shimmer does transfer on to fingers or hands. That's fine if you can remember this and to not touch your eyes. Also the colour fades after a couple of hours and doesn't stay fresh and bright though saying that you can reapply this over the top just remember to keep them handy and on stand by for touch ups. These are not the best products to use in hot and heavy pubs and clubs and the colours evaporate on the skin but are fine if used sensibly lol
All In All....
I love the soft shimmery look and the smoothness that this product gives. They kind of hydrate the eyes and are comfortable to wear. They don't irritate me apart from the fact I have to remember not to touch my eyes which is fine if your not drinking! They do create a modern look for pennies and I'm impressed with them for the money and I like the roller ball concept but they are not long lasting enough for me as I am very demanding! However they do work better as a bit of a highlighter rather than used as an all over eyeshadow.
I recommend them but all I will say is play with them till you work out how to use them best on you and for a pound they have to be worth the risk in purchasing lol
Only to be found in Primark and I've seen them in a few Primark stores.
