The eye liner
I like eyeliners but often find they irritate my eyes so I unable to wear them. While browsing the Oriflame catalogue I came across this definer and decided to give it a go. I had used a similar one from Avon before which I really liked, and hoped that this would be similar. One of the things I like about these definer sticks is that they operate on a twist and click system. This saves the hassle of sharpening a pencil, and I often find them to be a lot softer on my eyes.
To push the product to the top of the tube the definer has a twist system. By gently twisting the bottom of the applicator more of the product rises out and this is very easy to do without too much appearing. If you do manage to wind it too far simply twist the opposite way and it will move back into the tube until you have a fair amount. The eye liner itself is very soft but not so much so that it makes it messy to apply. It just means that it glides across my water line easily with no problems at all.
I own this eyeliner in black and it is a very dark, black line that it produces. I think next time I would choose a different shade just because I find to be a little heavy with my pale skin. There is a number of colours available including black, brown, green, blue and grey. The application tube is very durable this is something that has sat in my bag without much wear or tear. I also find because you only need a small amount for such a bold look, this eyeliner lasts a very long time for the amount I paid.
In use and results
When you first begin to use the definer, at the very tip of the pen it is slanted to make it easier to apply. This does wear down after you use it a few times, but I found it did help with getting used to applying it. I do find that this eye liner was very easy to use. The tube is comfortable to hold in my hand while keeping a steady hand. It promises an easy glide system so you do not have to rub away at your eyes to achieve the look you want. I do find this to be true, as the definer is nice and soft so it transfers very easily on my waterline and directly under my lashes. I like wearing eyeliner but it is one of those things that always seem to irritate my eyes. This is gentle on them and I can wear it without any discomfort at all.
I find that one run across the bottom of my eye enough of the product is transferred for a casual look. If you are looking for something more outstanding then you can add a second stroke of the definer to provide a more dramatic look. It is a high pigmented block of black colour that is transferred on to your eye lid, but I found it to be a little dark for my skin tone so hold back on application. It runs smoothly across my bottom lids, and I am able to get close enough to the bottom lashes I prefer liquid eyeliner for my top lid as I find it a lot easier to apply than pencils. I did have a go using this on the top of my eyes but I just found it too difficult as it drags a little on the skin. Anyone with a steadier hand may be able to do better than I did but for me I only use this on the bottom water line and just under the lower lashes.
I found that the eyeliner did stay on my eyes well. After a few hours it did begin to fade but not so it was totally unnoticeable. Towards the end of the days it started to gather under my eye which is one thing I hate with eyeliners. You could add more through the day to keep it looking neat but you would also need to wipe under the eye where the eyeliner falls to avoid looking like a panda at the same time. It is waterproof eyeliner but I think that is silly if it smudges beneath the eyes anyway. I found that any remaining eyeliner can be wiped off easily with a face wipe without any trouble.
I do like this definer and use it occasionally, but it is not an amazing product. The staying power is good, but towards the end of the day it begins to smudge underneath my eyes. It is very easy to apply, and that is one of the main reason I like this definer. It retails at £5.45 which is not too bad for the time that it lasts, and it can often be found on special offer for around £3. It is an average definer and you can find similar products at the same price so not overly impressive but still a nice definer.
