I have no idea why this brand was discontinued as it was very attractive and a lot of their products where actually very good.
I bought this lip gloss with a bunch of other products quite a long time ago. To be honest I wasn't really looking for a plumping effect as my lips are quite full but plumping products where very popular at the time and I wanted to see what the fuss was all about.
The gloss comes in very attractive packaging: an air bag decorated with a lacy balk design and a little ribbon on top. It looks more feminine than girly which I very much liked about the pout brand in general. The air bag also makes it safe to order online without worrying about the product getting damaged in transit. Although I bought mine from the store but since you can probably only get it from ebay now, it's a nice feature.
Inside was a 10 ml squeezy tube with the same lacy design on the sides that looks very elegant. The tube has a black cap and the top of the gloss is a plastic slightly smaller tube that is cut diagonally with a little opening for the gloss to squeeze out. This makes it easier to apply evenly as it works a lot like a lip stick.
I think mine is the original as it doesn't have any colour name displayed on it. It's a medium fleshy tone. When it is applied it gives a slight tint and a very nice shine. It smells of peppermint and as soon as you apply it you feel a tingle all over your lips that lasts for a few minutes. I have to admit though I didn't see any noticeable change in plumpness and I have been using it for quite a while. I never used it regularly though and never 3 times a day as they suggest. But I did use it at least once a day almost every day for more than a month and didn't notice any difference. It is very refreshing though and looks nice on your lips. I also find it hydrates your lips and you might not need a lip balm or chap stick when using it. It is sticky though and you might feel your lips sticking together when you speak. I notices it doesn't last on long either but I can say that about most glosses.
Overall it's a nice little treat if you give up on the plumping thing.
I discovered this product about a year ago and I have to say it is fantastic. It does what it says it does and that is to plump up your lips. It also nourishes and conditions your lips. It feels as if it is doing good from the moment you put it on. It makes your lips tingle but this soon dies down. I put it on top of my lipstick to get a glossy finish. I use it instead of lip gloss. If I were you I would buy it while you can. I understand that the Pout company has ceased production and so it is going to become increasingly difficult to obtain this product. I does however mean that those companies that have got supplies are selling at reduced costs. So you should get some good price comparisons. I would definitely recommend this product as a good buy.
Pout Plump was a product I have never heard of until I stumbled across it one day in a glossy magazine in the hairdressers.
I am normally not extravagent with make-up (with exception to the odd treat) but this product really caught my eye.
The product is designed to plump up your lips to make them fuller and more lucious.
I have small narrow lips and have often wondered why I apply lipcolour as it makes little difference so I was keen to try this product.
I purchased the product easily at a local department store and although it was pricey it was affordable, cost me £7.99
Anyway, lets just say I was not diappointed!!!
I found my lips to be much fuller and plumper than before!!
Since this first try I have been a regular user of Pout Plump and have never been diappointed with the results. I would not use it as an every day product but do use it often when going out to parties etc. It gives me a lift
I feel more confident and attractive since using this product
Overall- If you have small lios this is a great product
A few weeks ago I sat down to read my favourite weekly gossip mag and found a special offer whereby readers that ordered products from pout.co.uk would be applicable for a 10% discount and a free lipstick! As I have always been interested in trying the Pout products and I love freebies this was a golden opportunity.
The website is pink with dots of bright colours everywhere and it is very easy to find yourself browsing it for much longer than you had intended and be tempted by the many products on offer. However, I soon found what I wanted which was Pout Plump. This is similar to a lip gloss but amongst other things it promises to hydrate the lips, increase collagen and with repeated use it has supposedly been shown to improve lip plump fullness by up to 40%! This sounds much too good to be true was my first thought, but on the other hand, what would be the harm in trying
The website makes all its products look good enough to eat and when it came to choosing a colour for my new Pout Plump I was at a loss they all look gorgeous! However, I decided to try the original clear colour as this would mean I could put it over lipstick (not that I really ever use it mind, but still I like to keep my options open). Apart from the clear gloss there are 5 other shades, all which look lovely; especially the forbidden fruit looked tempting no surprises there then.
With my 10% discount the gloss ended up costing me a somewhat reasonable £14.40 (for the maths challenged amongst us this means the full retail price is £16.00). I dont think you will find the gloss cheaper than this anywhere else but theres no harm in having a look for discounts or special deals in the Pout stores.
A few days later my package arrived and I eagerly tore it open. Inside I found the gloss encased in a small, air filled bag (if you look carefully you can see it on the picture). Normally I dislike unnecessary packaging but in this case I think it was warranted as the gloss comes in a squeezy tube. Knowing how the Royal Mail works it wouldnt have been surprising if I had received a very sticky package with an empty tube of lip-gloss inside without the protective packaging. I also have to admit to loving the cute, girly little bag. Its pink with a black little rosette and a swirly pattern on it and it was pretty enough to make me not want to cut it open to get my Pout gloss out.
Oh well, we all have to make out sacrifices and so I tore it open to reveal my film star lips in a tube. The tube is also pink with the same black, swirly patterns as the bag and it is very pretty, not a gloss to be ashamed of applying when you are out and about (not that I care but I have heard rumours other people sometimes do).
So, the moment of truth - would my new U magazine beauty award winning gloss really be the ultimate lip plumping gloss for a full-on celebrity style Pout? Well, as I put it on I could certainly feel my lips start to tingle. I ran to the mirror to have a look but surprise, surprise, I couldnt really tell a difference After a few minutes my lips did seem a lot redder and maybe slightly more pouty than usual. In fact, they looked like they normally do after Ive had a spicy meal. As it says on the website that it should be applied 2-3 times a day I decided to wait and see what had happened by the end of the day. Again, there wasnt really a noticeable difference in plumpness but by now I had started to like the colour of my lips and also the feel of the gloss.
The gloss is pretty sticky, one of those where you really dont want any wind outside blowing your hair in your face as this will mean instant Abominable Snowman look. It smells very strongly of cinnamon and tastes of it too. This is certainly strange as the main ingredient that is supposed to plump up your lips is peppermint. The website also lists their trade marked Maxi-Lip as a vital ingredient to ensure plumpness what this is nobody knows! The gloss glides on smoothly and does give a lovely shine, but needs reapplying once an hour or so. I dont find it painful to apply, even though I can certainly feel my lips tingle, but some of my friends had to rub it off as they said it hurt too much. I guess this depends on how sensitive you are and how high your pain threshold is
In my experience the pictures that show a marked increase in lip volume do not tell the truth. Some of my friends have also tried this and have had pretty much the same effect as me. Saying that, this is a decent enough gloss that gives a lovely colour to your lips even though its clear and so could be used just for this effect. Even though there was a very slight increase in lip volume this soon returned to normal, and even if you keep reapplying your lips seem to get used to it after a while. For a better effect I would recommend rubbing a super strong chilli on your lips; that should make them fatter! Then again, I guess thats not the best option if you are after a romantic night, people could get hurt!
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a pretty lip-gloss that gives your lips a nice colour. At £16 for 10ml it is slightly expensive for what it offers I find but it does last for ages (2-3 months) and I would consider buying it again. For anyone who is very sensitive I would suggest another alternative as this might be too painful to use.
Pout Plump can be ordered online at www.Pout.co.uk. If you want to have a better look at it there are stores in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and a few other cities. If you want to find out whether theres a store near you, just log on to the website and use the store locator.
this particular lipgloss is the best I've ever tried! when I say tried and not buyed, it is because I won it in a competition. I would never pay £17 for lipgloss. It goes on shiny and lasts all day, feels pretty sticky though, but hey, what's beauty if we don't make sacrifices! it even stayed on when I'd eaten! my lips did look a lot "plumper" after use, and there is enough lipgloss to last a good month or two! I'd definately recommend trying, I'm just not sure about recommending buying the product! :)
I won Pout Plump in a competition
I'm not in the habit of spending £16 on a lip gloss so this was a chance to indulge myself in the finer things in life without spending a penny (care of Cosmopolitan - cheers!).
Arriving in a pink rectangle box, it has a very elegant look with a black lace effect at the corners. The tube inside seemed quite large for 10ml but the clear tube with black lace print showed that it was actually full. Having a look at their website, Pout Plump is available in 3 colours - Original Clear, Bubblegum (hint of pink) and Caramel (hint of brown). I received the clear but any of these can be applied on their own or over the top of lipstick.
The design of the tube is well done. It is easy to unscrew the black lid to reveal an almost lipstick shaped spout - cut at an angle with a small hole to release the liquid.
On opening the lid the smell isn't actually too strong but there is an obvious aroma of peppermint. The gloss is quite runny but when on the lips it does feel stickier. It glides easily onto the lips and even better rubbing the lips together. The peppermint can also be tasted although not recommended to because it is disgusting. Having tried those breath freshening strips that melt on the tongue, the taste was rather reminiscent. This is like a concentrated mint which is extremely powerful. If the sensation on the lips is bad, it is even worse on the tongue because it is even more sensitive. It does feel as though I have brushed my teeth if I get it in my mouth but still not nice.
On applying my lips had a tingling sensation and felt as though they were getting colder like wetting a surface then feeling the coldness of air. With the smell, this sensation was also rather reminiscent of 'Original Source' mint shampoo which tends to leave the scalp tingly almost to the point of numbness. The same concept applies here and it does last quite a while.
The gloss is not just a basic gloss hence the reason for the high retail price and 'pout' name. It contains MAXI-LIP which is used to hydrate and increases collagen over use. What this really means is it makes the lips fuller looking with less creases and the sensation of the gloss is apparently supposed to enhance natural lip colour. This plumpness actually works. My lips didn't balloon but did look a lot fuller and not all dry and cracked. As I don't wear lipstick the effects of the sensation were easier to see and my lips did actually look pinker even though they should really have turned blue from feeling so cold. It is recommended to use the gloss 2 - 3 times a day for 28 days to enhance this fullness but I noticed a difference after the first application. Collagen injections are expensive and do provide some horrific consequences if it does go wrong so this provides a cheap alternative without the risk of looking like someone has inflated a balloon in your mouth.
With eating and drinking the taste does seem to rub off on some foods so perhaps not recommended if consuming anything. I tend to lick my lips a lot and although the taste wasn't nice, the gloss itself didn't seem to last that long if I did lick them which meant several applications were required in a night. With licking most of it off the effects of the MAXI-LIP tend to wear off too as does the tingling coldness but the taste stays for a bit longer - by that time it has become a lot more tolerable.
What I do like about the gloss is it remains shiny even when there isn't a lot of it left on the lips. Putting more on does give a thicker look but tends not to ruin the look from being shiny one minute and matt the next. The hydration is also a strong point as it seems to work well even after licking the entire product off again. Saliva is actually bad for lips and with the less than pleasant taste of peppermint I was licking them less so the condition improved.
Longevity of the product isn't going to be long. If applying 2 - 3 times a day, it didn't last much longer than a month (if that). This may be ok price wise if you do want fuller lips from a product that does actually work but there are cheaper alternatives out there without the frills.
Overall the performance is fantastic, only let down by the price and the taste however the plump effect and hydration of this product far outweigh those issues. Being sceptical and seeing the results has changed my mind about this product and made me realise that spending more can actually achieve better results than cheaper products. Over continual use I am very happy with this product. I haven't tried it wearing lipstick as I don't do but imagine the effects to be the same. I would actually splash out the £16 for this although I would only wear it going out which means it does last a lot longer but for a much fuller effect over time without having to go through collagen injections it is a great alternative.
