Advantages: Lovely finish, very sheer, suits all skins
Disadvantages: Feels a bit gross
This stuff was recently sent to me by a very good friend who works in the beauty industry. I think it is one of the most useful and peculiar items of makeup I have ever possessed. Recently there has been a rash of products on the market which reflect, bend or in some way bugger about with the light. This is a good thing as it allows sheerer, lighter products to be used to create a more natural effect. These products have an added advantage in that you can apply them with a trowel in the most haphazard manner and you still look okay. Nothing, however prepared me for this weird little gem. At first glance it seemed an ordinary powder with an incredibly useless brush built into the lid which was quickly discarded in favour of a huge sable one from my makeup drawer (read gigantic chest). I went to apply a light dusting over my face and was shocked to find that the brush appeared to be soaking wet. When I felt it with my fingers I found that this was not the case but that the powder, though dry, had a funny wet feel to it. I think this is intended to be pleasant and cooling but it is actually rather horrid. Once on however the powder has a subtle sheen and allows the light to play over the face in such a way as to disguise tiny imperfections and lend an unknown luminosity. The powder can be use to set foundation and is wonderful if used over blusher, giving a totally natural effect. I shall definitely be asking for more of this.
