“ Brand: Primark / Type: Eyeshadows / Suitable for: Eye „
I picked one of these up recently in Primark for the small price of a pound, they included four colours, one dark brown, one gold, a really light gold white and a whitey cream colour! *Packaging* The make up is packed in a small plastic sachet, once open there a white cheap case, with a clear cover and the four eye shadows and a white holder for the brush and swab applicator! The packaging is very basic and simple but slightly better than something you would expect from Primark. *Application* I tried out the brush but that made application messy because the shadows would just crumble and the powder would go everywhere, the other side of the applicator the swab fell off after the first bit was put on my eye! So I used my own brush to apply, the shadows still break really easily and was really messy on my sink but was easy to wash off, with my own brush application was easy but messy! *Results* The colours aren't as loud as I had expected them to be and very glittery, sadly the colours didn't last long at all and just left me with very glittery eyes, there doesn't seem to be too much difference between the colours and the darker colour isn't dark at all, so It was a shame. Overall they are some nice subtle colours, but they don't last long and aren't as bold as I wanted them to be, so I'm afraid they are not for me!
I bought one of these the other day when I was moseying through primark and saw it reduced to 50p. I want to try new make up colour but often dont have the money to commit to expensive brands in funky colours so i thought this would be a god base point. The packaging is fairly simple, obviously keeping the costs down which is fine and you get the 4 squares of eyeshadow, and a brush with a brushy brush on one end, and a foamy blending style brush tip on the other. The brush is ok but I have found that some bristles have fallen out, so mainly use the other end and othe brushes I have allready got. The colours I got in mine were goldy-brown, purple, green and pink. I havent tried the pink yet as i always think it makes me look over tired but all of the other ones look nice and I am overall quite impressed with the colours. The only thing is that they are all quite powdery and I really am not mean to my make up but the purple one has allready fallen apart (Ive had this a week!) and it has made a massive mess as it is all cracked and there has been some over spillage into the goldy one next door to it.
When it comes to eye make-up I own loads of the stuff! However upon a recent visit to Primark I simply went mental at topping up on a few 'must have' shades when I saw the prices. I'm an avid fan of Primark. I love the fact I can update my look for pennies even if the stuff (clothes in the main) don't last the test of time, for bang on trend looks what does that matter anyway is my way of thinking?! However not only in my local Primarni (as I fondly call it) have we always had a small cosmetic collection, it's got massive buisness in my store! The collection is now massive, offers the latest looks and most stuff is under a pound including some stuff at two for a pound pre packed in bags). Honestly if you haven't seen the range get looking or complaining at you local store because one of the things flying out of mine are the two kohl eyeliners (bright electric blue and orange) and Primark's rip off of 99p of Benefit High beam that is absolutely amazing and in my view rivals Benefits offering at a far cheaper price! After having tried alot of Primark's cosmetic range, when I spotted these 4 colour eyeshadow compacts (available in 2 coloured varieties) at 99p a go I couldn't resist plumping to give it a whirl as it contained colours I wouldn't normally touch with someone else's and of course these colours are widely seen on the catwalks and in magazines at the minute (yep I read Vogue from cover to cover!) and that is why there's only a couple of colours available and for a limited time only, because Primark will come out with another set to treat us to very soon I reckon! The Packaging.... The compact comes in a hanging white and see-through plastic slim bag which has a hole to hang it by to the top of it (how it is displayed in the store). On that in black, blue and silver writing I'm told it is Primark Essentials 4 Colour Eye Shadow 'Designed to Glamourise your eyes' and the price of a £1.00 is displayed on a round small label which is easy to peel off On the back of the bag contact details are given for Primark, ingredients are listed, cautions are given and finally there is a bar-code on there. The compact itself is long, reasonably wide with a clear flip top lid to the top of it which of course you can see your 4 large, square slabs of colour through and under that an applicator which is long, plastic with a small brush to one end and a small white sponge to the other and and on the case in white frosted writing I'm told it is 4 Colour Eye Shadow 'Designed To Make Your Eyes' and the size is stated (Net Wt 0.42 OZ/12g and on the back of the compact there is a large white label on there and in dark grey writing once again I'm told what they are, ingredients are listed and once again I'm given contact details for Primark. Cheap looking packaging this is but robust enough and of course amazing value for money! The Compact Itself.... One of the drawbacks of these is that no colour is stated on the compact. Shame really cos if I wanted say to ask my Mum to collect me a set while she was in town I wouldn't know what to ask her to get me and she a right dozy mare that is easily confused! However that is the only gripe I have and I'm nit picking now. These eye-shadows are great. The applicator sucks and the only end any good to use is the decent quality soft brush but the sponge fell off the end unable to be repaired the first time I went to use it but anyway I prefer to use my own applicators so again I won't moan to much about this lol! The colour collection I chose had a bright green, deep orange, bright canary yellow and a lilac colour in them side by side. Lots of colour in each and all of the colours contain a small amount of well blended glitter. You will notice that the colour is not creamy looking at all but a fine powder and when working with them it's best to go slow and build the colour up gradually or they can be messy to use. The colours are not as scary as when you first see them. These colours are bright but once you start to use them you realise that you can get those bright colours if you go heavy building the colour up. However really I feel that these are not meant to scream once on your eyes and are meant to give a hint of unusual colours to your eyes. If going for an intense highly pigmented look I find these stick on better to an eye priming base. They go on fine and quite smooth. To get even results on the eyelids and not make a mess you basically need to dib dab the colour on rather that rub it in as it flakes easily. It's easy to get on your eyes you just need to take your time but it is easy to create a smooth and even look. If you make a mistake it's easy to correct and once on expect the colour to stay put, bright and looking fresh and not smudging for a good few hours with no need to touch up. Comfortable to wear I like the way the glitter stays mixed with the colours once on the eyes instead of flecking all over my face and basically these are a nice edition to your make up kit for a bit or drama and/or to update your look. Personally I like to add one or 2 colours from this kit to my more expensive eye shadows just to shake up my look a bit and enjoy using them in the main for daytime! Recommended to try for yourselves at this price! Only available in Primark stores!
