Q-Tickles Botanical Cuticle Oil
About every two months I have an appointment with my hairdresser. She comes to my house, colours my hair, and while the colour is taking she treats my nails to a much needed manicure. One of the wonderful things about her is that she keeps up to date with hair and beauty, and will often bring products for me to try. This is how I first discovered a nail oil treatment called Q- Tickles. Although designed for the professional market you can purchase this on-line, and Amazon sell it for £6.95. I have also seen it on EBay and on various cosmetic websites. Unfortunately many of these are professional only trade websites, and there is a postage charge for the Amazon option as it is through a marketplace affiliate. However this product lasts ages and ages, so I think it is worth spending the money on the postage. Alternatively if you have a nail technician you can request this product at your next appointment, and if it isn't in stock they should be able to order it for you.
About The Product
Made in America this oil is designed to treat the cuticles of the nails moisturising them and keeping them soft. As I have got older I have found that my nails do break more frequently, and I certainly suffer from hard cuticles if I neglect them for several days. I believe these hard cuticles lead on to another affliction - hangnails, which sound like a scary term for rather painful little pieces of dry dead skin that can be really annoying. These will often cause the sufferer ( in this case me!) to pick and pull causing even more soreness. The beauty of this product is that you can paint on the oil just before going to sleep. This allows it to work during the night and puts an end to hangnails for good!
The bottle itself is gorgeous. You can select from many options but all are designed to be feminine and very pretty. Mine is called watermelon, but this is rather old now, and many more alternatives are available including sunflower, royal bouquet, jasmine, juicy peach, lavender and Hawaiian rain. Every bottle is designed along the same lines. It slopes backwards allowing easy access to the product which I think is a real bonus especially towards the end of its life. The botanical oil has a beautifully fragrance, and here is the real bonus - it is filled with real flowers. The result is a gorgeous bottle that can happily sit by your bedside at night. Of course you can also apply during the day, but I have found for the best results that nightly application is the way to go.
What I have noticed over the years is that used nightly this completely prevents the sore little bits of hard skin or hangnails that tend to appear on the nail edges. It keeps everything so soft and moisturised, and the fragrance is beautiful whatever choice of scent you select. I have also noticed that my nails have been stronger since using this product and are less prone to flaking and breaking.
For anyone interested in nail care these make gorgeous Christmas gifts as they are so pretty. I think the unique aspect of these is that the flowers suspended in the oil look so attractive that I think anyone would be delighted to receive these as presents.
Final Thoughts And US Purchase
For anyone visiting America I think that bargains are possible here as I noticed that the store "Sally's Beauty" sell these for less than $3 each, so I think I will be looking out to stock up on my next visit to Arizona.
I can highly recommend this product for anyone who enjoys looking after their nails - it works beautifully and is a joy to use. You have to persevere with it and use it daily to see the benefits, as a twice weekly application does not produce adequate results. However with regular use, and certainly nightly applications, I have been delighted with the outcome. I will continue to re-purchase as it lasts for a very long time, and works out to be more economical than the initial outlay may suggest. Certainly a US purchase will be a real bargain and I am really looking forward to my next trip there already!
