Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter
Advantages: Leaves the lips feeling soft and smooth, and looking pretty
Disadvantages: The colour doesn't last all day
I like to wear lip balms as my lips can get quite dry and I also need a bit of colour on my lips as I look to plain without it. For these reasons, I bought one of the Colourburst Lip Butters by Revlon.
What does the product do?
The product is a buttery lip balm which has been created using Shea Butter, Coconut Butter and Mango Butter. It hydrates the lips deeply leaving them softer and smoother, and also boosts the lips moisture levels by a very specific 156%. It also gives the lips a splash of colour and 94% of those who use it apparently said their lips were immediately softer, smoothed and hydrated.
There are a few different shades available and most of them are pinks, purples and reds. They have really lovely names like Gumdrop, Cherry Tart, Strawberry Shortcake and Sugar Plum. I chose Sweet Tart which is a pretty bright pink shade.
Packaging and Price
The product is packaged in the same way as a lipstick would be. It is contained with a silver metallic tube and which has a black Revlon part at the bottom which you twist in order to access more of the product. The lid is pink and it has diamond shapes over it and it is really pretty, especially for a lip balm. The product costs around £6 and it can be bought from stores like Superdrug and Boots, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has a very creamy consistency. It is really smooth and as you apply it to the lips, it glides easily across the skin without pulling or dragging. It does have a similar consistency to a normal balm but I think it is a little bit more creamy. Despite the product being in colourful packaging, it doesn't really have an aroma to it or any taste which is a bit of a shame in a product of this type. I was expecting something a little bit fruity but I got over it, haha!
The product does instantly make the lips feel hydrated and much softer just as promised. It removes feeling of dryness and tightness, and it makes my lips feel much more comfortable. The colour is sheer but it is definitely there and the product does make the lips look pretty. The colour comes onto the lips as soon as you apply the product. It has a lovely sheen to it which isn't too glossy but is still pretty. The colour stays on the lips, even when eating or drinking, although you do need to reapply the product for colour reasons. You don't however need to apply the product for hydration reasons and it does leave my lips feeling soft for a long time.
All in all, I do really like this product and it does leave my lips feeling soft and comfortable. It also has the benefit of adding a splash of pretty colour to my lips which is fairly long lasting. There are plenty of colours to choose from so there should be one to please everyone. It's a nice little piece of make up to carry around with you during the day for a quick fix up.
Summary: A lovely lips balm which softens the lips and gives them a splash of colour
