Revlon Matte Eyeshadow
Advantages: Good colours, OK packaging, nice matte finish
Disadvantages: Breaks up easily in your bag, not amazingly fine, not very longlasting
I bought this eyeshadow in the shade 003 Pink - a flattering pale pink colour, which I picked because it seems like a good everyday colour and consistency for natural but not naked eyelids. I was not disappointed!
The packaging is simple and certainly nothing to write home about, but opens easily and doesn't leak or break. It comes with a little sponge-tipped applicator - fairly standard stuff. The smell of the eyeshadow is quite strong and a bit soapy / powdery / makeup-y (no big surprises!). The eyeshadow is ridged, which allows you to pick up more with each sweep of the applicator - timesaving and good for coverage.
The consistency of the eyeshadow on the applicator (or finger, as I like to use) it quite powdery and when I apply it to my eyelids it doesn't go on amazingly evenly, but blends well and can be built up a bit. The shade is flattering, opening up the eye area and looking natural yet "made up". The powder is not as fine as some eyeshadows, which is a shame, but it is a nice colour and certainly as matte as it says on the tin.
With regard to lasting, I would say it lasts an average time - certainly not all day on me, but does not particularly crease so if you don't mind it disappearing a bit throughout the day / night it is OK. I would be interested to try a dark shade of this eyeshadow to see if that lasts any longer, but I certainly don't find that this pastel pink one does.
My biggest bugbear with this eyeshadow is that within literally weeks of buying it, it got al broken up in my bag. I now have the choice of a) throwing it away after a few weeks or b) keeping it and getting annoyed every time I open it and powder "explodes" all over me. This is a shame, and because of this I am not sure if I would buy it again. However, the choice of colours is good, and the formula and packaging acceptable, so I may try another if a colour appeals.
Summary: Nice colour and finish but breaks up easily and doesn't last as long as I'd like
