Advantages: Works well, makes a real difference

Disadvantages: Smells bad

I am desperate for that healthy and fresh glow that screams 'I've just come back from a month in Mauritius or some other equally exotic place!' but unfortunately, most of the time I just look greasy and sweaty! I have spent an absolute fortune on useless products but now I've definitely found my wonder product - Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator!

This 'illuminating' lotion promises to brighten up skin and give you a luminous, radiant complexion, whether used by itself or under foundation. It even claims to contain a crystal complex and vitamins C and E - I think the Vitamin C is pretty much obsolete as it's a very unstable vitamin, but hey, it sounds good! The lotion also contains SPF15 but you're unlikely to get the benefits unless you use loads, which I wouldn't recommend unless you love the just-fallen-face-down-in-a-deep-fat-fryer look!

Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator (what a mouthful!) comes in a very sturdy plastic tube with a pump dispenser at the bottom. It does look quite expensive, but probably no more so than it actually is! There are loads of different shades, ranging from almost white to brown, but it doesn't matter if there isn't an exact shade match for you because it's very sheer and isn't like a foundation. I use 04 Bare Light which is slightly lighter than my own skin tone but I wouldn't say you could notice!

Normally I mix this in with Max Factor Seamless Foundation. I only use a tiny amount, maybe the size of two peas, which is plenty! The lotion itself looks quite shimmery and scarily orange (the Bare Light shade anyway) but it's very sheer on the skin and very subtle! It sinks into the skin beautifully without any greasiness, and the effects are instant. The difference is honestl
y quite remarkable - my skin looks so much brighter, dewy and healthier! Even if I'm tired, it stops my skin looking grey and makes me look less dead - I wouldn't say the effect was luminous or glowing, but when one day I forgot to put any on, a few people remarked that I looked a bit under the weather!

Don't mistake it for foundation though - it has very little coverage, if any! If I'm applying directly onto my face, I dot it on my cheekbones, chin and a tiny, tiny amount on my forehad. Don't be too heavy handed with the T-zone and applying all over, otherwise you'll look oily! The runny lotion is absorbed quickly and easily, but I have only one problem - it smells of liquorice, which I hate! It's a very diluted scent so I can't complain too much, but the smell lingers all day, and gets quite unpleasant if you wear it too close to your nose!

The dispenser gives out far too much lotion, so just press the pump very, very lightly. Even half a pump is too much, so be careful! Remember to apply it sparingly - use too much and you'll look completely over the top! Oh, and the lotion is quite shimmery but it's completely undetectable unless you're in very strong, artificial lighting, so don't worry! The effects do seem to fade towards the end of the day, but my cotton wool pads still take off lots of satisfyingly beige-y orange gunk, even when worn by itself, so I would say it's long-lasting!

I hoped for some long term effects on my skin as it apparently contains so many wonderful ingredients, but I can't say I've noticed any change. It's a great way to get healthy, dewy-looking skin though, and I wouldn't be without a tube! It's also quite moisturising which is good for me, as I have very dry skin - it seems to glide over drier patches, without clumping or m
aking the area more visible at all. If you have greasy or combination skin, the formula is very light and has no greasy afterfeel, so you needn't worry!

For a high street brand, it is quite pricey - £9.99, but I'd say it's worth every penny! You only use a tiny amount each time and the tube contains 45ml, so a tube should last you 3 months at the very least! There are matching foundations and concealers if you like, but I haven't tried these so I can't comment. In fact, Demi Moore apparently swears by the Revlon Skinlights range, and she has perfect skin (now that I come to think about it, that's probably thanks to facelifts and chemical peels, but still) and is probably loaded, so this just shows it's a top quality product. Definitely recommended!

(Sorry for the appalling title, I can't think of anything else!)

Don't apologise...I like the title!
As for the product, it seems a bit pricey but I think I'd be willing to give it a try. It does sounds really nice.
