Advantages: Makes your skin glow!
Disadvantages: Can be to much if you overdo it.
Getting a healthy glow isn't as easy as it sounds when you live in the cloudy north. Rain and the constant gloom is bound to make the healthiest glow fade into a shallow pallor. Being fair already this wasn't good news and so I went in search for something that would transform my skin into the healthy tan I wanted, but with a little extra, some shine!
I first tried Loreals glam shine, but I found it was more of a bronzer and while it did the trick it didn't have the wow factor. A few months later while in Italy to visit my boy-friends parents, I saw his sister with the most beautiful skin I had ever seen. It positively shone, with radiance, and at first I thought that it was natural, but upon inquiring what type of cream she uses she told me it was a powder. This was one powder I had to have.
It was called Revlon and it was a dream come true, the day I bought it I have never looked back and it has been the finishing touch on the perfect makeup job.
About:
This comes in a round case with a separate lid on top which holds the shimmer brush, which is a flat short brush. The case underneath unscrews to reveal loose powder with a separate lid on top with holes so that you can control the powder coming out.
The powder comes in different numbered shades and it only leaves you to find out which one suits you best. The one I have is 01 and is called Golden Lights. I bought mine while in Norway and paid about 9 euros for it but I'm not sure what it costs in the UK or Ireland.
Application:
This powder is supposed to be used as the final touch on your makeup so using a large fat bronzer brush (I didn't like the brush that came with it, as I found that it spread too thickly and didn't create a nice even dusting), I dipped it lightly into the powder and then swiftly dusted it over my face, focusing on the cheekbones. This made my skin glow, as the powder has hundreds of minuscule shimmer fragments, that when hit by the sun, give you a sexy exotic look.
Impression:
I loved the way this looked and was a avid fan of it while on holiday in Italy, but I found that it doesn't have quite the same effect in the wet and windy north. In the South having bronzed glowing skin just looks natural, whereas here in the winter it just looks fake. So in Ireland I tend to only use it for going out at night, or a very small amount on my checks to create a glow. But in the summer in Ireland it has a nice effect, just be careful not to overdue, as a common mistake is to brush too much on creating a fake look.
I wouldn't personally use powder and then this shimmer powder, as that might be a bit much, in the summer I tend to wear less makeup, skipping the foundation and powder and just using this as my skin makeup.
Conclusion:
A perfect choice for the summer months, when you want to look tanned and healthy, just don't overdue and give a miss on the brush that comes with it. Invest in a fat bronzer or powder brush and use that to dust it over, and create the perfect summer look!

- 09/04/09 Koshka, I don't know about everyone but I personally always look at the ingredient list, I feel better when I know what I am putting on my skin. (though this one was pretty scary) I sometimes go to allot of trouble to find the ingredients online, as many companies don't want you to know, and don't post the list on their website...
Anyway that is my style and I will continue doing so. |

- 08/04/09 That ingredient list is more scary than alluring...I'm surprised they didn't slip 'anthrax' in there on the quiet ;-) |
