Advantages: Range of bright colours, nice packaging

Disadvantages: Needs lots of re-applying, poor range of neutral colours, pretty pricey

I've been on a quest lately to find the perfect lipstick for my make-up bag, I was on the lookout for either a nude colour or subtle pink, something that would go with pretty much anything. I usually wear lip-gloss but lipstick seems to have come back in fashion lately so I really wanted to get my hands on one.

I must have spent about half an hour in boots just browsing at all the different make-up brand's lipsticks and it seemed that there was very little choice of subtle colours, all bright pinks and reds which is a shame because I expected the high street brands to have followed in the higher end brands paths of nude lipsticks and I really didn't want to spend the ridiculous prices of the lipsticks by the likes of MAC etc.

As I say, the choice of nude/subtle lipsticks on offer at boots were very limited, however Revlon seemed to have the best range and after some deliberation I settled on their 'super-lustrous lipstick' in the colour 'Pearl 025 Sky line pink'.

Packaging - I love the look of this lipstick, its black with a gold band around the middle with the 'Revlon' name on it. The top of the cap is clear so you can easily see the colour you are purchasing instead of relying on the colour sticker at the bottom.

Colour - Revlon have a wide range of colours in the super lustrous range, including, oranges, pinks and purples but as I say there is little choice of nude/subtle colours. The 'sky line pink' colour was disappointing to me. Looking through the cap, the lipstick looks like a nice subtle nude/pink colour and pretty matte, however once it is applied to the lips it appears as a very pearly pink so be careful if you are wanting the matte look.

Quality - Again, I was disappointed. I regard Revlon to be one of the better high street make-up brands, but the lipstick is not long wearing at all, in fact the lipstick pretty much vanished after about 10 minutes so would take a lot of re-applying to keep the look up. On application the lipstick feels lovely on the lips, really soft and goes on smoothly, however I suffer with rather dry lips despite always applying lip balm and this lipstick really gathers in the dry skin, not a good look!

Price - Revlon's super-lustrous lipsticks are £7.49 at boots, personally I think this is quite expensive for a lipstick that disappears after 10 minutes. I will not be buying these again.

Summary: A lipstick that needs some work.
