“ Brand: Revlon / Type: Foundation / Suitable for: Face / What it does: Smoothes, Vitalizes, „
It's only in recent years we've been told to moisturise under a foundation. I'd finally got into remembering to do this everytime I applied a foundation when suddenly the buzz word became 'primer' to us of us make up fans.
Me though, well I wasn't interested in purchasing it particularly and it seemed the only primers available that I ever saw or heard about (until very recently) were rather expensive and offered by the likes of Benefit, Urban Decay and Ruby & Millie. So up until recently I hung in tight with simply using moisturiser and then foundation over the top. I couldn't see the point in buying this product as I was happy with my old way of doing things!
However I came across this bottle of Revlon 'Vital Radiance' Smoothing Face Primer in Poundland... for a pound (of course lol) so I was a bit intrigued and bought it knowing it was a bargain being a Revlon product.
1fl oz/30ml see through plastic, recyclable tube that opens which has a light gold screw on/off lid situated at the bottom and the product is dispensed via a squeeze of the tube through the small hole. On the front in smallish black writing I'm told it is Vital* Radiance, Smoothing Face primer, Containing SPF 25. Then I'm told it's for all skin types. I'm then told the colour of it (in my case it's 02, Petal Cool and I think there are 5 colours in the range) and finally the size is stated at the bottom. On the back I'm told what the product should do for me, how to use it, ingredients are listed, there is a warning and finally there are contact details for Revlon. It's an ok tube but be aware that it doesn't say on it is is Revlon though it is of course as 'Vital Radiance' is a division on the company.
What To Expect....
Prepares skin so makeup looks smoother, wears longer.
Helps prevent makeup from settling into lines.
Smooth on sparingly over moisturiser, then apply makeup.
My Experience Using The Product....
Well it sounds simple to use and actually.. it is. Slap on a bit of moisturiser onto clean skin and give it a minute or so to soak in and then apply this over the top of it.
Because you should have a smooth, soft face just use a really small amount of this and it blends over evenly and sparingly. I find a really small amount is well enough which means that although I use this everyday (sometimes twice a day) it's lasted me lasted 4 months already and I still have 3/4 tube left! I really mean you need a small amount of this, so economical..it really is!
So I apply it as I said over the top of moisturiser and I smear some of this lightly, and gently over my face with fingers or a foundation brush or a sponge.
The liquid is of course coloured (you do need to pick a shade close to your skin tone) and to the touch it's very silky smooth and velvety soft. It isn't a cheap, runny, messy, smelly liquid (it has no smell to it at all) to work with and you do have to squeeze it out of the tube gently to get any out and it does this easy as well . It soaks into skin in quick time. It looks like you have a layer of foundation on your face and skin does appear smoother as well as feel it slightly.
The face doesn't feel clammy or sticky when applying it or when it has sunk into skin and then you continue on with application of make up it gives no problems at all. The primer vanishes and does it's job quietly in the background. Concealer can be used over the top as well as colour corrector creams and a whole host of other lotions and potions can be used without any issues cropping up at all. Use foundation and blushers and whatever else you want to use as you can forget you've used the primer completely it just doesn't react badly or get heavy feeling on the face.
Lines and wrinkles in my view are not made worse by using this product and I do think that this stops make up collecting into places it shouldn't. Face feels smoother and in my view make up does seem to stay looking fresher for longer and if using cheaper make up products then I think this does help prolong the life out of them a bit.
This isn't a miracle product but it's simple enough to use and does no harm to use it at all although it gives no long term effects it seems to benefit the skin in the short term and it comes off easily with your usual make up removing routine. I haven't had more spots or drier skin or any adverse effects on my face and of course it contains SPF 15 which is a bonus as well.
If you can get this for the price I paid then I'd advise you to try it and see if helps make up to settle where you don't want it and if it can make your make up stay put a bit longer. I haven't seen it in any shops but am aware it's found in cheap shops and T.J Hughes and can be found in online store you just have to look for it!
