Revlon PhotoReady Concealer
by sparkle1004
I don't blemishes as much as I used to when my skin was younger. I do get the odd one popping up however, especially if I've had my make up on for a long time and so, although a concealer isn't the most important item in my make up bag, I still need one there. My choice was the PhotoReady Concealer.
What does the product do? ...
The product promises to hide your imperfections such as blemishes and to camouflage your dark circles to leave your complexion looking healthy and awakened. It apparently contains Photochromatic pigments which reflect and diffuse the light, brightening the area where it is applied giving a soft and luminous finish. The product claims to have a soft and creamy texture which will blend seamlessly into the skin. The product has been tested under the harshest lighting and high definition conditions and it contains a SPF of 20 to protect the skin from the aging effects of sun damage. It is both oil free and fragrance free.
Shades
The product doesn't come in many different shades. You can choose between light, medium and light/medium which definitely won't suit everyone but suited me because I have pale skin. I chose the light shade.
How do you use the product?
The product can be applied directly to the skin although this can be unhygienic. It is better to dab a clean finger onto the skin and then onto the blemish or imperfection. It should be dabbed onto the area and then blended in. It can also be applied onto the skin beneath the eyes to hide dark circles and carefully patted into the delicate skin. You can use it alone or on top of make up as a finishing touch.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a rather classy looking black plastic tube. It is slanted at the top and it has white writing across it. The product is protected by a clear lid so that you can carry it around with you in your bag. The concealer will cost you £6 and it can be bought from stores such as Boots and Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has a really creamy consistency compared with other stick concealers that I have used which is a good thing. It is very pigmented and you can tell straight away that it will give full and good coverage. I have tried the product on one of my blemishes and it covers it fully and completely. It blends well into the skin and it matches my skin tone closely so you can't see it on my skin at all. I also used it to cover my freckles just to see how well it would work and I had the same results.
When used as an under eye concealer this fails massively. I wouldn't use many product other than my YSL Touch Eclat for this purpose and I bought this Revlon concealer for covering blemishes but I gave it a go with my dark shadows beneath the eye. It covers the shadows well to the point where you can hardly see them anymore. After a short while, the concealer dries on the skin, becomes quite chalky and settles in the fine lines and wrinkles beneath my eyes, highlighting them and make them look an awful lots worse than the dark circles did.
The product hasn't caused any blemishes to develop on my skin. I can't comment on the sun protection element of the product as I haven't worn it in the sun yet but I think an SPF in a product like this where you are only applying it to small areas of the face is a bit silly as you will end up with uneven skin colouring. The product lasts a couple of hours but touch ups are required. This is easily done and the lovely packaging looks nice so I don't mind being seen using this by my friends. It is easily removed using my usual make up remover.
Conclusion
All in all, this is a good concealer which hides my blemishes well and matches my skin nicely. It has a creamy consistency which makes it easy to apply and it will stay put for a couple of hours. As an under eye product, this fails miserably and highlights my fine lines and wrinkles. Younger skins may not have this problem! I will carry on using this as a blemish concealer but it won't be going anywhere near my dark circles. Read the complete review |

Revlon Powder Blush
by shopping_jem
I have bought this blusher fairly regularly in the past couple of years, as it offers great shades for me and i good quality for the price. I am currently using shade 03 "Blushed", which is great on my fairly pale skin - it stands out well, is mainly pinky but with a slight earthiness to it. In the winter I use shade 02 ... "Blushing Berry" to compliment the eye/lip colours of the season - the plummy lipsticks etc. This shade is darker, a pink-toned, chalky berry colour that needs to be applied in a defining manner.
The compact is very sturdy and good quality - I have had several of these and they have never broken, nor has the blusher itself crumbled or broken up. There is a mirror in the lid, which is a useful addition although I don't tend to use it myself. The brush is too small for me, as are most compact blusher brushes, but good for emergencies. The blusher itself is a good-sized, textured-surface rectangle, which makes it easier to ger it on the brush than some smaller designs. One compact lasts me months of daily use.
The formula of the blusher is a fine powder that goes on matte and builds up colour easily. It is easy to apply, easy to blend, and lasts a long time, although would need topping up for the evening if worn all day. It feels good, and seems very good quality for the price (about £7.99 RRP but often on multi-buy offers).
Overall, I would highly recommend this blusher, as long as the colour is suitable for your skintone. Read the complete review |

Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara
by jade1517
Unfortunately thanks to the amount of different products I use on my eyelashes I have began to see them getting very weak and falling out very easily, so I when I recently saw this product advertising I just had to try it, especially when I learned it is by one of my favorite brands.
The mascara comes in a green and silver ... tube with the brand name and product information on the bottom section of the tube. The tube has a screw on lid which when undone reals the wand. The brush its self is fairly large, which i like as you can get to all of your lashes at once, not having to work your way round in small sections. The mascara comes in two colours; black and brown. After recently picking up one of Revlon's other mascaras in brown by accident, I have realised how much i prefer brown mascaras, so like wise i bought this one in brown too.
I take the wand out of the tube and begin apply a coat to my lashes. I like to apply two coats of mascara for a day look and then apply false eyelashes and add mascara for a more dramatic evening look. The first coat goes on very smooth and thanks to the large brush i did not see any clumping happening to my lashes. I let it dry before i apply me next coat. Once completely dry i add another layer of mascara and can continue to see the mascara working. My eyelashes are definitely much longer and thicker and with the mascara being brown, they look very natural. The first time i tried this mascara i id not use my eyelash curlers as i like to see the full affect of mascaras, but i have found, that this mascara does not offer much curve, but more length and weight, so to achieve the best of both i curl my lashes and then apply the mascara on top. The combination of the two makes the eyelashes look really long and pretty.
Whilst wearing the mascara i found that is did not melt very easily, leaving the black smudge marks around the eyes, so i was very pleased with that as i hate it when i check in the mirror and i look like a panda, its never a good look. I checked my lashes through out the day and they did begin to drop but never to the extent where it looks like you are wearing no mascara, so if you have time in your day you can reapply one coat of mascara around mid day to keep them in place but if you do not have the time then it does not matter as the lashes still have brilliant length.
I have not had my mascara long enough to stay whether is is strengthening my lashes yet, as i am sure it does not work over the period of a couple of days, so i will come back in a weeks time or so to say how i have found the lash treatment, i have high hopes so hopefully it works.
Overall i would definitely recommend this mascara as it greats incredible lengths and weight to the lashes, the brush is a great size so reaches even the smallest eyelashes, and all for £9.99. I think this is pretty good value even if the lash treatment does not work, but fingers crossed my eyelashes are getting stronger by the day. Read the complete review |
