Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter
by rachshikari
I am an active lurker when it comes to watching youtube videos online of the latest makeup and cosmetics, I love watching what people buy as if i like the look of it and its available around my area, then I like to go out and try things for myself.
The latest thing i bought from a recommendation was two Revlon 'Lip Butters'. I ... bought these as the girls on youtube looked great with them on and they seemed good for the price. They are priced at £7.99 each but i bought them on special offer at Boots when they had a 3 for the price of 2 promotion on. I picked two up in the colours I liked the most and then the third item I got was a blush which will be reviewed in a separate review.
The two colours I purchased were; 'Cotton Candy' and 'Sweet tart', I swatched all the colours available on my hands and after a long time pondering which ones to get, I bought them and tried them as soon as I was home.
So what makes them different from your average lip product? Well they contain hydrating mango, shea and a coconut butter formula which help to keep lips hydrated and they are very smooth to apply hence the name lip 'butter'. They keep lips hydrated for a few hours even when reapplying, unlike other lipsticks that can sometimes dry out your lips.
I personally really like the look of these both on and off the lips. On the lips they are semi opaque, so not as bright as they look before you put them on, but i like that as its not over the top and is good for a daytime lip colour or a less in your face lip. They seems to last a good couple of hours before needing to be reapplied, but do transfer quickly onto things such as glasses when having a drink which is annoying.
The packaging of the lip butters is also really nice. the lipstick is in a metal silver tube and covered with a semi see through lid which corresponds to the colour of the stick inside so its easy to decipher whats what.
I do really like these and plan to get more once I have the money to buy some, they would be perfect for summer just to add a pop of colour to the face. I bought them at Boots, but they are also available at Super drug or anywhere that actively stocks Revlon products, and of course online too. Read the complete review |

Revlon Colorstay Foundation
by kellyab181
For years, buying a foundation that matches my skin tone has been a nightmare. Pale foundations, for example ivory or porcelain, have either been too white or tangerine orange. With a yellow based skin tone, I was finding it near on impossible to find a match for pale olive toned skin. As someone who also suffers from rosacea (red skin), ... getting a yellow based tone was also crucial to tone down the redness, as well as match the skin on my neck.
After years of trial and error and research, I finally came across Revlon Colorstay in shade Buff, ending the tireless search for my skintone match.
BUT beware! There is a difference between colorstay for combination skin and that for dry skin - the colours are not the same. So if you want a yellow based pale tone, then go for the combination skin option. The other is slightly more orange in tone, which I unfortunately found out after buying it online.
The colour goes on very well, especially over a primer, and stays throughout the day. Build-able if you need more coverage like myself, but alas it will cake if you put it on later in the day for small touch-ups. However, this is somewhat inevitable with all foundations.
For someone with my skin condition, I am pretty much inseparable from this product. I only wish that other foundations and make-up companies would realise there is a colour shade missing from the market (I always try to experiment with others, but I just cannot get yellow based colours that are light enough).
Hopefully Revlon will one day make a BB or CC cream in this shade, for I am eager to have lighter weight, more natural coverage for my skin. But alas the colours, as ever, are completely wrong (If 'light' is a dirty orange colour then I'm the queen of sheba)
Anyway, this is a great product, and the best foundation on the high street in my opinion. Mac NC15 is meant to be the alternative choice, which I have never tried, but haven't found the desire to pay double when I have a product I already like. Hopefully you will like this product as much as myself. Read the complete review |
