Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
by stickyangel
I had seen these Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains by Revlon being raved about for ages so I was very pleased when I received one as a gift recently. They cost £7.99 which is a lot more than I'm willing to pay at the moment as I'm really trying hard to save money.
The balm stains come in a chubby pencil format, I suppose ... they're probably copied from Clinique's Chubby Sticks, and they do look similar. Most of the pencil is coloured the same as the shade of the balm, but the end is silver metal, as you can see form the picture above. They have a plastic pull off lid which is also the same colour as the balm.
The balm stain is really easy to use, I find the chubbiness of the pencil makes it really easy to handle. I apply it straight from the pencil, but you could apply it with a lip brush if you felt this was necessary. I also find because the tip is quite wide it is quick to cover my whole lips with it.
I find this feels just like a moisturising lip balm when I apply it, which I was glad about as drying lip products are one of my pet hates and the main reason I tend not to bother with lipsticks. It glides onto my lips really smoothly and it's easy to get a nice even coating. It can be applied quite sheer or built up to look much bolder depending on the look you're going for or what you're comfortable with. I tend to just do one coat of it as I like quite a subtle look.
The colour I have is called Cherish and is a bright pink colour, it might actually be the one pictured above but I'm not 100% sure as there are a few pink shades. It isn't as bright on the lips as it looks but it is a lovely shade of pink which will definitely stand out if you apply it quite boldly.
I find the colour stays on much longer than the feeling of the balm does. The balm doesn't really last longer than an hour for me, but my lips remain stained with colour for about 4-5 hours, at which point it's easy to re-apply. Although the moisturising feeling of the balm does wear off quickly it still doesn't feel like my lips are dried out.The good thing is that although it does 'stain' my lips with colour the stain is easily removed with a good makeup remover, so if you find the colour doesn't suit you you're not stuck with it until it wears off.
Al in all I really like my balm stain and if I wasn't trying to save money I'd definitely buy it in more shades. Read the complete review |

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter
by stickyangel
I'm not much of a lipstick wearer to be honest. I don't really think it suits me as I have really small lips, but also I've always found them really drying and just not good for my lips at all. however, when I saw the Revlon lip butters, and all the rave reviews on beauty blogs etc. I thought I'd give them a go as they seemed like they'd ... be much more moisturising. They can be picked up in Boots for £7.99, but I got mine when it was on offer for around £5, I don't think I'd have paid £7.99 for it.
The packaging is nice and looks good quality and quite expensive. The base of the stick is black shiny plastic and the lid is made of semi-transparent coloured plastic, dependant on the shade you choose, as you should be able to see from the above picture. I chose the shade 'Cotton Candy' so the lid is a brightish pink colour.
The lip butter is really easy to apply straight from the stick, it goes on really smoothly and evenly giving a lovely coverage. It feels really moisturising which I was so pleased about as I hate drying lip products and the horrible look they give.
The colour is quite sheer but buildable so you can have it more opaque if you want. It has a subtle shimmer to it that helps make the lips look really moist and plump. I actually love the look this gives me after just one layer, I find it's subtle enough that I don't feel self-conscious about it drawing attention to my lips but gives a kind of 'polished' makeup look which I like. I love the colour I chose too, it's not as bright a pink as it looks but it still gives a definite pop of pink.
Without eating and drinking it lasts around 2 hours before I can feel and see it start to fade. I don't think this is too bad as lipsticks and glosses go but obviously it's no good if you want something that's going to stay on all day, it does need reapplying often.
Overall I do like this lip butter, it definitely leaves my lips feeling moisturised and it looks lovely, but I'm not sure I'd pay full price for it considering how often I have to reapply. Read the complete review |

Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick
by Waterfalls
This lipstick is wonderful for a light breezy look, without the "heavy" made up look. As the name suggests, the lipstick is very buttery and gives you a burst of colour upon application. However, the effect is not lasting and the lipstick comes off after a hour or so in which the colour dulls down a great deal to just a slight ... transparent glossy colour. For night outs or parties, I recommend wearing this lipstick over longer lasting finishes such as Revlon Colorstay. I personally have the Cherry ice colour in the Revlon Colorburst range and didn't find it a hit and a "must have" amongst my lipwear. I do wear it from time to time over my Revlon Colorstay liquid lipstick.
The cost is reasonable, the smell is quite neutral without emitting a strong petroleum smell that some other lipsticks seem to emit.
In summary, I won't repurchase as it only acts as a lipgloss, and I have found lipglosses in other brands that do a far better job. Read the complete review |
