Advantages: Easy to use, easy to shapen and long lasting on the lips
Disadvantages: Plastic lid breaks easy!
I like many women continuously look for ways of improving my appearance. Not only that I hate, hate, hate putting on a lipstick only for it to have vanished in ten minutes flat. When I go out I want my make up to stay put and not having to keep going into the toilets to keep doing re touches all the time. I want to be having fun with my friends but still know I look presentable.
I've never really used a lipliner in all the years I have used make up. I use enough cosmetics on my face without adding yet another thing to do on my face before I go out and whilst out but there was a few reasons I invested in this product.
Firstly to help make a stronger outline to my lips. Ok call it cheating but I wanted something where I could draw on a decent bow to my top lip without it looking harsh and fake and could trust to stay put and not fade or go crumbly hence revealing my secret.
Another reason is I smoke. Now I'm fortunate (at the moment) to not have deep set smoking wrinkles around my lips but I do have tiny ones and I thought this make help to stop lipglosses and lipsticks 'running' and just keep my lip products in place a bit longer.
What Rimmel Say About The Product....
Long lasting colour, transfer resistant lip liner. Precision application to enhance the shape of your lips. Help minimise lipstick smudging and bleeding.
The Packaging....
My product is the same one as in the review photograph at the top of this page but my packaging is ever so slightly different (I have had mine for a while). So mine, is a pencil and a kind of burgundy colour with the same colour as I have chosen push on/off plastic lid. On it in white writing I'm told it is indeed a Rimmel product and that it is '1000 kisses' stay on lip liner pencil. Round the back is a white barcode and a list of ingredients.
Using It....
Well this is as I have said is a pencil in every sense you would expect. It needs sharpening (not at all often) and is made of nice smooth wood giving ease of use in the whole sharpening department. As you apply this to the lips it has no real smell once on though you can smell a bit of wood as you do apply it but do your drawing and it isn't offensive and as soon as you put the pencil lid back on smell is gone. So no smell. No taste either.
It applies like a dream. It doesn't drag as it is moist but it doesn't go on thick or heavy but certainly isn't so dry it's hard work. Its really, really easy to use. The consistency really isn't too thick and not greasy. This is a fool proof lip liner believe me!
Now I picked a pinkish colour to go with my pinks, browns, reds and purple lipsticks and glosses etc. I find it blends with virtually any colour and gives no harsh line and doesn't make lips look too pouty.
Results....
Brilliant. Lipstick or gloss doesn't dare try and upset this product. It stays put and really does somehow make other products want to stay around. I noticed that not only did lipstick stay on a hell of a lot longer than normal but when lipstick did eventually fade I wasn't left with a lip lined mouth looking unsightly it just disappeared and didn't leave me with bits of product clinging in the corners of my mouth etc.
If you have deep wrinkles this is highly recommended to you. I doubt very much you can get 1000 kisses in and expect it to stay around but this does give a really polished look to the lips. Whats more is that this on me is great all over my lips and covered with lipgloss. It's heavy duty and lasts hours.
I've never liked Rimmel products but this one is a marvel! Highly recommended!
Summary: A great product. Well done Rimmel, you finally got something right!
