Advantages: Really does dry in 60 seconds - the clear one is very sparkly and smooth

Disadvantages: Using a dark colour like black and leaving it on for a few weeks means taking it off is harder

I am very particular about my nails - I visit the nail salon once every 3 weeks and have acrylic extensions put on with white tips. They are fairly short (not talons by any stretch) and look nice and neat and professional. To keep them looking shiny and glossy til the next visit I always go home and slap on a coat of clear nail varnish and always opt for Rimmel's 60 Second Nail Polish.

Rimmel is a very cheap makeup brand and to be honest I don't use a lot of their makeup because it's not long lasting enough - I would prefer to spend a bit more money and get better value. But this 60 Second brand of nail varnishes they have are great. I do also paint my toe nails and again always use this brand. It really does dry in 60 seconds - which is great if you are a busy person on the go. The smell of the nail varnish is quite strong so make sure you apply it in a well ventilated area. The brush is a nice size and the bristles all stay together well, meaning you can apply the varnish easily. The pots are quite small though and as with all nail varnishes once the pot is half finished you do find it a bit harder to get the varnish on the brush - tipping the pot from side to side to get some on it.

The clear nail varnish is great - dries quickly and keeps my nails looking sparkly and shiny til I take it off and reapply it. If you get any on your skin whilst applying it easily peels off. In 60 seconds it's hard and you can tap it and use your hands normally without the fear of chipping it. And I have to say, after 3 weeks of having it on I have never had it chip or peel off or anything. One coat of this is usually enough. Although if you apply two, the second one is also dry after 60 seconds. I have pots open for months and months at a time and none have dried up yet.

I generally use the black colour on my toenails and again it's quite good. A good consistency - meaning I generally don't have to apply two coats, except to my big toe. I also use the base before my colour, and the clear topcoat on top of my colour (all the 60 second brand) and I have to say my toenails (when done properly) last for a good few weeks without chipping - I only take off and reapply it due to regrowth. The brushes are such a good size that even when painting your toenails, getting varnish on your skin is kept to a minimum. Tip - if you get any round your nails dip a cotton bud in nail varish remover and go round your toes with it.

All in all this brand of nail varnishes is great - they are so cheap and affordable and unlike a lot of Rimmels range, actually works and does what it says on the tin! A bottle is £2 from Boots and will last you a good few months if not longer. It removes easily with normal varnish removers, I use one which is acetone free because I have acrylic nails. The black takes a bit more getting off than the other colours but that's because it is so dark. If you are getting ready for a night out and want to do your nails quickly then this is a great solution. I would add though, that I always tend to leave my toenails a bit longer to dry and try not to wear shoes for a day (flip flops are a good option) just in case - never had any problems though. Give it a go - a great nail varnish - bargain.

Summary: Quick drying, great price, lasts for ages, can't go wrong really.

I like this stuff too some people say it does not dry in 60 seconds but if you put a thin layer on it does, (does for me anyway) great review!
