Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish
Advantages: dries quite quickly, good range of colours, easy to apply
Disadvantages: chips easily
There was a time that whenever I bought a nail polish I would automatically head to Boots to choose a Rimmel 60 seconds product and so as such I have quite a few different ones in my collection. This is my review of the product.
There is a good variety of shades available to purchase in the Rimmel 60 seconds range and I have a teal colour, dark purple and a hot pink colour but there are so many more available too and so I would say that there is one to suit most people out there. In Boots an 8ml bottle of this product will cost you around £3.69 but if you have a look online there are some stores selling certain colours cheaper so I guess it just depends what you want.
The bottle comes in what I class as a standard looking nail varnish bottle in that it is a rounded bottle with a long black lid which houses the brush. Through the clear glass bottle you can see the colour of the nail varnish which is of course essential to when you are making a purchase. The Rimmel name and logo and the product name are on the front of the bottle and it varies on each of my bottles and so I can only presume it changes slightly from time to time. Ingredients and instructions for use are on the back of the bottle in a small font and seen as I know how to paint my nails already this is never something that I bother with!
When you unscrew the lid of the varnish you expose the brush for applying the varnish and I have to say this is one of the best brushes I have found for applying nail varnish really. Rimmel call it the pro-cision brush and claim it will give quick and precise application of the varnish to your nails. I find that the brush is of a similar style to the ones in my nails inc varnishes in that it is quite long and not overly thick but will cover the nails with just a couple of strokes. Rimmel claim you can do each nail in a second but I don't think it is that quick personally!
The varnish goes on to my nails really easily although I do find I need to keep wiping the brush on the inside of the bottle as a lot of varnish comes up with the brush and will make a mess of my nails if I don't do that. The cover goes on well with one coat and does dry pretty quickly really but I do like to have two coats of nail varnish to get a fuller, vibrant colour. The second coat does take a little longer than the sixty seconds to dry but I think this is reasonable really.
I find that the only real issue with this varnish is that it chips quite easily. Even if I apply a top coat, which I nearly always do as I am always washing up and cleaning and things, the varnish can chip in a day or two and whilst this isn't an issue if I am just painting my nails to match an outfit or accessories for a night out it does become annoying if I have just painted my nails for day to day life or work or something because I cant stand chipped nails and so end up doing my nails more often than I would like.
I think for the prices of these nail varnishes they should really perform a little bit better than they do. There are other brands out there which are equally as effective for much less than the Rimmel ones and so I don't think I will be buying this brand anymore really.
Thank you for reading my review!
Summary: Cheaper options work as well
