Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish
Advantages: looks mice
Disadvantages: takes longer
Since having children I no longer have the time to spend on myself and so when it comes to painting my nails I need something which is going to dry quickly. I have used a variety of quick drying polishes and I have yet to find one which actually dries within the set amount of time it says!
These Rimmel nail varnishes come in a small bottle which is a good thing in my opinion as I find if a nail varnish is open for a while it tends to lose it's quality and considering I don't paint my nails very often a small bottle is ample! Having said that it's not as if it's tiny, you can still get many, many uses out of them. The bottle is rounded which I don't think makes it look particularly special but it is quite a cheap polish so I am not expecting a special bottle with it. The fact that it is supposed to dry within 60 seconds is very clearly written on the front of the bottle so you cannot help but be aware of what the gimmick of this particular polish is! The lid is black and unscrews to reveal a very fine brush within it.
The brush is very fine which is important for applying the nail varnish so you can get it on accurately and not have it marking your skin. The bristles are good quality- all the same length which is essential for even coverage. The actual wand (the lid of the bottle) is perfectly fine in length, there's no grips on it or anything so you can hold it wherever you find comfortable and at a length which gives you enough support to be able to paint your nails accurately. I can't fault the brush at all.
The colour that I have is similar to this picture but slightly darker. You can get a variety of shades in this range so plenty to choose from. The varnish itself is quite watery. I find that I have to shake this bottle well before using it else it kind of slides onto my nail and is too wet. Once shaken it's a much better consistency for applying.
This is easy to apply because the brush is good quality and the length of the wand perfectly fine. I fine the only difficult part is making sure the varnish is thick enough which means shaking it before applying. I found that I needed two layers of varnish for it to look best, with just one it was a little streaky and 'weak' in colour. After two coats it looked much more rich and I was happy with this. The big question I guess is whether it took 60 seconds or not... well I can say not! It took about three minutes before it dried and even then it was still slightly tacky so I was still conscious about not touching things properly for a while.
I did think that it looked nice on my nails, the shade was lovely and it made me feel as though I'd made a bit of effort on myself which hadn't taken too much time to do. It had a lovely shine to it too which made my nails look healthy and had them stand out more!
It didn't stay for all that long, after a day it began to chip away and then when I used my remover to get rid of it it had stained the skin beside my fingers very slightly which was rather irritating.
This nail varnish does dry faster than others that I have so it's good if I'm trying to be fast but it is still longer than it says it is supposed to be which I find is rather disappointing, it would be great if it was dry within 60 seconds! The colour is perfectly fine and the wand and bottle is fine but I can only give it 3 stars because it doesn't do what it says on the tin which I find is a huge flaw in this product.
Summary: It's nice
