I have had a couple of these eyeshadows over the years but I was given 2 for my recent birthday so I've been renewed with them again. These can be bought in the likes of Boots but if you are keen on trying them out looking out in Poundland first is a must as I have seen these in and out of stock for months now which is how I acquired so many of them although they always seem to disappear, the same as lip balms really. The product comes loose without any sort of packaging which is a good thing really as it means there is no unnecessary wastage of plastic/card. It is rather small, around half the size of a lipgloss which includes the product itself and the handle which holds an applicator on the inside so it is easy to slip into your bag if you're heading out and want to keep it handy for touch ups. This is fairly compact and sleek and it does look good I think. To use the product you simply unscrew the silver lid and pull out the applicator which holds the colour on the end which is a large bulbous shape with a pointed end. I find when I pull out the applicator that the fine powder ends up everywhere namely all over my top and the floor which is a pain. However it does make life easier as you don't have to find a brush to apply this with. The sponge itself is very hard and feels rough being pulled against my eyelid so you do have to ensure you're being gentle when applying. It is also quite big but it does cover the eyelid in just a few sweeps so it's a good thing I suppose. I own around 3 or 4 shades of these eyeshadows, one is a deep purple, another a very pale pink, a paleish blue and a navy blue. The pale colours are nice but they do need a lot of building up to make the colour show and make an impact on the eye. The darker colours show up with just one application and I find if I add more than one coat that it becomes too dark for my colouring anyway. As for the longevity of the product, I have used these on multiple occasions, especially the older ones and there is still a lot left, I am not sure how much but it doesn't feel any different than brand new to be honest. As for how long the shadow lasts on the eyelid I find that it really doesn't have much staying power at all, after around a couple of hours the middle of my eyelid has a large dark streak to it which is just messy and unattractive. I have found if I have used a little bit of primer that it makes it last a little bit longer but not hugely so. Overall for just £1 I think these are a good deal, they do give you some colour and are cheap but if you're looking for a product that lasts a long time on the eyes then this is not the one for you. I would give this 3 stars as it's ok but not exactly the best I have ever used.
One of the things that I love to buy the most is make-up, I think I'm just obsessed with the stuff really and own enough as it is for 15 lifetimes and as my mum always said you only have one face! However I can't resist a bargain and this to me was and I was on the look out for some new eyeshadow shades for the Christmas period and to basically freshen my look up a bit when I stumbled quite literally over these! I own three different coloured tubes of these, all wearable colours for a pound that I bought in my local Poundland store. Although I loved all three shades I only have one in front of me now and I'm pretty sure my mate has swiped the other two colours as she liked them too! So the shade I have in front of me is called Suede (a medium browny colour with a little glitter integrated into it). The Packaging: Each loose eyeshadow powder comes in a see through plastic tube with a screw on/off silver coloured lid to the top of it which holds the sponge applicator to the base of the 'wand'. On the front of it we are told that it is Rimmel, London 'Colour Loose' and on the back of it that it is 'A high impact loose shadow' and that the weight of it is 0.07oz/2g and the colour (as I have stated already) plus the contact details for Rimmel are on a peel off sticker on the lid of it. Nice looking packaging this is and I think its as informative as it needs to be...after all its only an eyeshadow! Using It: Well as I have stated already in this review this is actually a loose colour eyeshadow however it is in a tube and not a container and with a spongy applicator given with it so this is a neat, handy and simple product and most off all fuss free to apply...thankfully! When you pull the 'wand' out powder doesn't fly out or anything adverse like that. I don't even need to tap off excess product from the black rounded sponge to the bottom as enough powder clings on to be used and although it is good amount its never too much. I do like the way that the powder clings to the applicator too without sending speckles all over my face! All you do is wipe this over your eyes in the way you would any normal eyeshadow. It gives great coverage, nice colour pigmentation and is simply really easy to blend. I don't find that I need to keep dipping the applicator into the eyeshadow or anything, once is simply enough. My browny colour is rich, smooth and like I have mentioned in the colour I have on today (Suede) this has little silver particles of glitter within it to light reflect. These particles don't flake off or loose their sparkle over time (again thankfully!) and you can't feel them within the colour at all when applying it. I find this to not fade or crease or do anything adverse at all all and that it simply stays in place all day (or all night) long! I like the way if I touch my eyes it doesn't smudge badly and all round I think this is simply a perfect eyeshadow really....just wish I could find my other two! Not readily available in stores though discount ones may well sell them, if not Google if interested!
