Advantages: Lasts all day, doesn't crease, great metallic finish!
Disadvantages: Abit pricey, stung my eye lid when applied too much, abit messy.
I love trying out new eye shadows. Especially the metallic kind that give you a nice sheen on your eyes.
My mum works as a merchandiser for make-up and she told me recently about this new product. Rimmel Eye Mousse. I asked her what they were like and she said she had tried them out and thought they were brilliant and gave you a really nice metallics finish on your eyes, and it lasts all day!
The bargain addict I am, I rushed on down to my nearest superdrug to get this product on an introductory offer, and to my excitement, it was about £2 cheaper than the RRP!
Below is my review of this product :)
PACKAGING
------
You buy the product as it looks on the picture on this site. It's just a pot sat on the shelf with a seal on it, so nobody can tamper with the sale products. The pot is quite small, but holds quite alot of mousse for your eyes. It has a black screw top lid with a product label on the top, and the jar is glass.
THE PRODUCT
------
This mousse is infused with 25% purified water. It gives you a lovely metallic shine to your eye lids and really brings our your eyes. It's non-crease and it goes on like paint!
*Please note, the product does not come with an applicator, so you either use your finger, which can be quite messy, or a cosmetic bud.*
The product claims to last 8 hours, but I find with me, it lasts longer.
WHATS THE TEXTURE LIKE?
------
It says it's a mousse, but it is by no means like a chocolate mousse texture. It's slightly more runnier, but not so it drips, I haven't experienced it dripping yet, and I doubt it will as it is quite thick in that sense.
I use a cosmetics bud to apply it to my eyes, so when I dip my bud into the mousse, it just looks so clean and shiny when I scrape some on...ever so appealing.
WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE?
------
It doesn't really smell of anything. It does have that make-up scent to it though....if you get what i mean!
WHATS THE APPLICATION LIKE?
------
It's actually harder than you think to apply! I use quite a pointy cosmetic bud so I can get into the corners of my eye lids better, but even with that, it's quite hard to apply it first time without making abit of a mess. It does tend to get onto your eyelashes, which can be easily removed with your fingers, a cotton bud, or mascara.
As soon as the mousse hits your eye lids, you just see instant metallic-ness! It glides on with ease, and believe me, you only need the tiniest amount! I made the mistake of putting too much on my cotton bud when I first used it, and my eye lids actually started to sting because I had put way too much on.
Also, make sure you let the mousse dry before you start looking up and down and applying your eye liner or mascara. If you don't, it'll transfer onto the skin beneath your eye brow and you'll end up with metallic lines! So just make sure you let it dry first...admittedly, it's quite annoying, but it doesn't take too long.
DOES IT REALLY LAST 8 HOURS?
------
Yes. Honestly, it's like paint once it's on! Don't get me wrong, you don't have to scrub your eyes to get it off, it's easily washable...but it does last longer than 8 hours.
I also noticed that the product didn't crease either, which is highly annoying when it does. There is something quite annoying about having to rub your finger across your eye lid at lunch time because your eye shadow has creased!!
WHAT COLOURS CAN I GET THIS MOUSSE IN?
------
I bought number 05 and number 08, below is a list of the colours you can buy:
02 - Arctic Blue: A nice ice blue
03 - Chill: This is a kind of silvery colour
04 - Splash: This is like a light blue (a little darker than 02)
05 - Glitz: This is a light gold
06 - Get Fresh: A nice pale pink
07 - Breezy: A nice pale peach
08 - Sassy: The darkest colour of them all. It's a light brown.
HOW MUCH CAN I EXPECT TO PAY FOR THIS PRODUCT?
------
I paid an introductory offer of about £2.50 each. However, I think they retail at about £4 each. Yes it's quite expensive, but these pots will last you a very long time.
OVERALL OPINION
------
I like this eye mousse very much and have worn it to work on numerous occasions. I think they are probably best worn if you're going out somewhere nice, but it doesn't really matter.
These mousse's are not discreet, and they give you a lovely metallic shimmer. There are testers in store so you can try before you buy. Some people might consider them to be abit 'in your face', but i think they make your eyes look alive and glowing.
I would recommend this to women of all ages, as I have this product, and so does my mum, so it really doesn't matter who you are, or what your skin type is, these colours are really nice and look great once applied.
Summary: A great new eye mousse for anyone!
