Rimmel Colour Mousse Eye Shadow
Advantages: Easy To Apply, Comfortable To Wear And Lasts Longer Than Me On A Night Out!
Disadvantages: I Now Need To Buy Them All
There is nothing that I like more than a buying new makeup apart from having a valid reason (excuse!) to buy some. And that valid reason was a wedding and I had a fabulous pair of turquoise earrings that I decided would look great with turquoise eye shadow and that's a valid reason right? ........No, just me then.
I decided to pop off to my local Boots and see what I could find and I have to be honest and say that I don't usually pay much attention to the rimmel stand and there is no particular reason other than it's a brand I used to wear when I first started wearing makeup and have never really bothered with it since.
As I was walking past I noticed little glass pots of cream eye shadow that looked rather sparkly and being the magpie that I am I took a closer look and decided that the shade 014 called Mermaid one the one for me.
The eye shadow itself comes in a little round glass pot with a screw on black lid so its quite a modern design for rimmel which I think tends to be a little stuck in the past with some of its packaging although I have noticed that with some products they have become a little edgier.
The shadow is infused with a cooling mouse that helps to keep your eyes cool and while my problem is getting warm at the minute its lovely for the summer.
The screw lid comes off really easy and the cream shadow looks a little like gel when you look into the pot and due to the colour I had chosen the mermaid colour was really vibrant and when it caught the light you can see tiny little flecks of sparkles.
Many people don't like to us cream shadow as it can be tricky to apply and can gather into any tiny lines and sometimes wears off quite quickly but formulas now are much better for both application and staying power.
How To Apply ======
I do have a particular way of applying cream eye shadow but obviously you can put it on any way you like but I shall share spill forth from my fountain of knowledge (Sorry I am very tired!)
Before applying cream eye shadow I always apply a little foundation to hold it all in place, just use a small amount of your normal foundation or if you are really posh get your butler to do it for you, (No hang on that's an advert) what I meant to say was, if you have a eye shadow primer than you can use that.
I always apply using my fingers as in my opinion a brush does not work well with cream and using your finger allows you to place the cream and also to blend.
I dip my clean finger into the pot and take it straight from there, If you are more hygienic and not as lazy as me you can use a cotton bud and smudge some cream onto your hand and apply from there, apply a dab of the cream into the middle bottom of the eyelid and this way you can move the cream around and means that you don't go to heavy near the inside of the eye.
Once you have the cream in the place that you want you can then easily just add a little more to get a more dramatic effect as its much easier to add more than to remove excess without doing a fabulous panda impression (unless of course that's your look?).
I always finish by apply a little eye shadow powder in a similar colour and just dab onto the eye shadow as this and the foundation base will not only make it last much longer, it will also stop the eye shadow developing into the little lines and fading, If you don't have a near match , a little translucent face powder will do the trick.
This particular brand was really easy to apply and also easy to move around once on the eye and had rather velvet like feel and a slightly wet look once applied which made it look quite dramatic with the tiny glitter particles.
The cooling effect is quite noticeable and made the cream really comfortable to wear, especially on an evening out.
Did It Last =====
My eye shadow did last all night, I didn't need to touch it up at all through the evening. It even lasted longer than I me as I was very naughty and didn't remove it before I went to bed and it was still fresh in the morning unlike my good self......
The cooling effect is quite noticeable and made the cream really comfortable to wear, especially on an evening out and it really did keep me feeling rather refreshed all night although that might have been the fruity cocktails!
The cream did not irritate my eyes at all and I removed it with a gentle eye makeup remover and it came off very easily in fact it was easier than a powder based eye shadow to remove.
This is one of the best cream eye shadows I have tried and I have tried many, all in the name of research you understand.
The little pot carries a lot of product and as you only need to use a small amount it will last you a long time and there are nine different shades to try and once again in the name of research I will try them all and report back!
The price of the shadow is just £ 4.99 and in my opinion it's a steal!, a steal I tell you. (Don't worry I'm leaving now........TAXI!)
