Advantages: Cheap and good shades.

Disadvantages: Hard to get a good effect with the colour.

I deicded the other day after some colour reviews that a purple eyeshadow would suit me. I was in Tescos a few days later and decided to browse their make up aisle to have a look. The most relevent shade, and most appropriate price award went to Rimmel, and I ended up buying a pot of their colour rush eyeshadow mono in the shade 'Heather'. It cost me just over £4, which I thought was a reasonable price.

The eyeshadow is in very basic packaging, which is nto particularly modern or appealing. Rimmel doesn't seem to have moved it's eyeshadow packaging with the times like it has done with a lot of it's other make up. The eyeshadow sits in a black base with a clear plastic lift on and off lid. There is no brush supplied, but I have so many at home that this isn't a problem to me. There is only one colour eyeshadow in the pack and it is 2.5g worth of product.

The eyeshadow block is a very firm piece of material which you have to rub quite hard with a brush to get off. I have used this with a spongey brush and a bristle brush. I woudl definitely recommend the spongey brush as the powder stays on it until it is applied to your eye, whereas with the other brush the powder drops off it onto your face or under eye. It can make you look tired and like you have bags in your eyes.

The eyeshadow brushes on quite easily but doesn't have a dramatic or stiking effect. You have to apply quite a thick amount of the product to try and get good coverage and strong colour. On the plus side it does give quite a subtle effect.

The eyeshadow has reasonable staying power, it dosn't rub off too easily, and only needs to be reapplied about every 6-8 hours.

The real downside with this is the effect on the skin, I thought it was quite disappointing, and hard to get the shade and colour I wanted. I probably wouldn't buy it again for that reason.

Summary: Not the eyshadow for me....
