Advantages: Lasting colour, blends well, easily applied
Disadvantages: The cost when bought full price, doesn't come with an applicator
I generally go by the rule that you shouldn't dress up your eyes and lips at the same time, and seeing as I prefer to have my eyes stand out than my lips I own a huge range of brands and colours in the eye-shadow department, and am forever buying new ones, especially when on offer. One of the brands I own a few items from is Rimmel, London.
=== Price and Availability ===
Rimmel is a well known make-up brand and is available in the majority of shops that stock make-up from Boots and Superdrugs to supermarkets. I suppose I would class them as a mid range make-up brand leaning towards expensive in regards to price. In the majority of stores these mono eye-shadows retail between £3.49 - £4.00 for the single colour ones, but are often on offer in 'buy 2, get one free' type offers. I however picked up my two latest ones from a discount shop for a mere 89p each! Bargain! The downside of buying in discount type places is that they often have a limited range of colours.
=== Using the Eye-shadow ===
The two colours I recently purchased were a dark purple colour and another one which was more of a white colour. I like to own a white eye-shadow which I use as a sort of highlighter, and to blend in with other colours.
Both of the colours that I own have the typical Rimmel crown emblem in the eye-shadow itself (the picture doesn't show this). Despite using both colours fairly often over the past couple of months I've still not even worn away the crown, which suggests to me that these eye-shadows are going to last me a long time. The eye-shadows do not come with any sort of applicator so be prepared to have your own, but they are applied really easily and smoothly. I like to blend my colours, and these Rimmel ones blend really well. The dark purple and white blended together give a look I love, as does blending purple with a charcoal grey for a more smoky evening look. I have also blended my Rimmel eye-shadows with other brands with ease.
Once applied, the colour lasts for hours and I don't find myself having to constantly reapply. The colour does fade, but only slightly if worn all day. I think this eye-shadow has good staying power in comparison to many of the other brands out there. The staying power can be even better if you choose to use a mist/spray that fixes your make up.
=== Packaging ===
These eye-shadows come in a small container with a black base and a clear lid. On the bottom of the base there is some information about the product, including shade name, etc, and some information on contacting Rimmel. The lid is attached by a hinge, which is great as it means you're not going to misplace the lid - something I'm sure I would do!
=== Summary ===
Overall, a good product. Easy to apply, lasts well when applied, blends easily, and each one will last you a long time. This eye-shadow hasn't had any negative effects on my eyes at all - I've not suffered any of the irritation problems I can sometimes get with cheaper brands. Can be a bit costly in the first place to buy, but the fact it lasts so long would make even full price worth it if you buy a colour(s) you love.
Summary: A nice eye-shadow range
