Day to night mascara, I bought by accident, my daughter picked it up in Superdrug to look at it and it wasn't until we got home that I realised we had bought it (Yes we had paid for it!) The packaging is eye catching, it is black and pink and the general idea is you go for the pink during the day and then black in the evening. There are two brushes in this product, my unscrewing the pink lid, you open the length brush, the black lid adds volume. The daytime length brush is an average brush really, it is not over loaded with mascara and it foes apply mascara easily and cleanly, if definably makes your lashes easier to spot and gives them a healthy black cover. The night time volume brush is much thicker and holds more mascara, it applies it easily enough and doesn't add clumps or big splodges either. It does add volume to the lashes and all in all does exactly what it says it will do. Although both brushes go into the same hole, the daytime brush fits inside the night time brush, which is how it is thicker, when you remove this brush it removes any excess mascara as you pull it out. It is a great concept and not only looks good it really works. I love the way my lashes look after using the day time brush, I don't always use the volume brush as I don't think it is needed. If you want to go for a totally glam look then volume up all the way. It is easily removed as well at the end of the night and doesnt need touching up during. I love the mascara and have recommended to many people, 10 out of 10.
I brough this mascara maybe 2 months ago and have used it everyday. It has 2 seperate brushes the first brush is lengthening brush which literally does just lengthen the lashes then the other brush is for volume, i use the length brush first wait for that to dry then use the volume brush as this is more of a thicker brush which holds more mascara and coats the lashes very well. I brought this mascara after it was recommended by a friend and brought it off ebay for £5.50 the actual price is around £7/ £8 but it is best to buy it when its on 3 for 2 at superdrug or get it cheaper like from places off ebay. It has 2 seperate swivel tops for the seperate brushes, i have now started to notice the mascara has started to dry up so i am in need of another one. I do think it works really well and it makes your eyes look bigger as it coats every lash.
I, like most people, love to feel like I am getting something for nothing. That is exactly the feeling you get when you come across a product like the Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara - because you are literally getting 2 mascaras for the price of one. As a mascara aficionado, or at the very least someone who buys a lot of mascaras, I found myself surprisingly pleased with this mascara. I haven't always had positive experiences with Rimmel as a brand, I think some of their products are great value for money and others are just plain useless. The quality definitely seems to vary but at the cheaper end of the beauty scale I am always happy to return and try something new. This is exactly what led me to buy this product and I'm not disappointed I did. The mascara is a black and pink double tube - by that I mean you basically have a mascara inside a mascara. The outer tube holds the volume brush which is an almost rugby ball shaped brush which is very wide with evenly spaced twirling bristles. The second mascara is housed within the volume brush and is used for length. Don't be fooled as I was at first - this is not two brushes and two mascaras. This is one brush, one mascara and one clever tube which reduces the amount of mascara on the brush, meaning it can be used for two separate purposes. As the length brush is pulled out of the the large tube it exits through a far smaller tube which takes off a decent amount of the mascara - so you can use this to separate and lengthen your lashes. It is hard to describe but trust me it does work very effectively. The volume function is really great, I love the size of the brush and the amount of mascara it takes from the tube. It applies very easily to your lashes, minimal clumps and lumps and overall a very voluminous look. The lengthening function can then be used to refine the look, it separates your lashes without applying more mascara and making them spidery. It also lengthens the tips of the lashes give you that extra bit of glamour. It is presumably called day to night because you are using once function for day and one for night (although it isn't clear which). I tend to use both at the same time as I really like the overall effect and think it is very dramatic. I purchased the mascara in 001 Black but they do also sell it in Brown. I like the blackness of the mascara, is gives a very powerful look which is great for evenings. I probably wouldn't use it in the day other than a little touch up with the length brush over a day mascara. What I really like about this mascara is that it offers you two different functions. I often use several mascaras at once to achieve the lashes I want. This mascara is one of the few I have used by itself and it is because it gives me both the volume and length I am looking for. I am always a little worried about mixing mascaras in case they contaminate one another, something I find happens fairly often with more expensive brands. With the Rimmel Day 2 Night mascara this is not a concern at all - it is all the same mascara. In terms of price I think this is an absolute steal - for 9.5ml it is £7.99 and often cheaper as part of Rimmel's 3 for 2 and other deals. My only issue with it is that it didn't last very long for me. I probably used it for 2 months before it ran out and dried - because I use so many mascaras at once I like mine to last me 3/4 months which most of them do. Unfortunately because the mascara has dried if you use the empty brushes they tend to create lumps so if I want to use it again I will have to repurchase it. That said, I think I probably will - it seemed like great value for money and it did everything I wanted it to.
This is one of the best mascaras that I have used to date. I used to use one that was a bit more expensive as I love the full, black look for my eyelashes and had to buy this in a hurry after it ran out, now I'd never go back. This is amazing for the price and has seemed to last a long time which is unusual for me. My makeup bag used to be half-filled just with different kinds of mascara as I could never decide if I wanted heavy or a more subtle look but this is the only one that I need now, its much better than any of the ones you twist to acheive different looks as I always find that they just seem to splodge a load out when used on a higher setting. I would 100% recommend however you like to have your eyelashes because both brushes are brilliant for seperating and coating them. The only problem may be that a person who is looking for mascara that is barely there probably wouldnt like this as although the day mascara is a lot lighter than the night it is still slighty heavier than some may like. Also, I am unsure if this product claims to be waterproof but it isnt, a good cry always ends up with it spread down my face and if you rub your eyes it all clumps together and can be quite painful if left. Comments on how I can improve my reviews would be useful as I've not done this before :)
I recently won one of these mascaras from the beauty brand Rimmel. They frequently run competitions on their website with massive numbers of new products to give away for anyone interested. Their new design mascara is from their Glam Eyes collection and is called the 'Day 2 Night' mascara and I have never seen another product quite like it. It's a very innovative design which allows you to create a subtle or heavy look depending on what you are after. This is a wonderful two in one product for people like me who have different mascaras for day time use and others to clump on for nights out! The 'Day 2 Night Mascara' comes in a large plastic tube. Product size is 0.32fl oz or 9.5 mls and it's larger than most of the other mascara tubes I have in my make-up collection. The tube has a clever 'magic cap'. The very end of the cap is black and has the word 'LENGTH' written on it. Below this is another cap which is pink and this one has the word 'VOLUME' written on it. Basically you can twist off either the top or the bottom cap depending on which look you are after. The 'LENGTH' cap provides fine coverage, no clumps just a thin stroke of deep colour. When you use this brush the effect is such that your eyelashes look very defined, thin but dark. I have been using the 001 Black shade. The brush design is a spiral or tightly woven soft bristles. The brush looks large and as if it would deposit a lot of product onto lashes but it doesn't. When I first used the 'LENGTH' brush I was astonished at how quick and simple it was to make my eyes look so great. I always wear mascara during the day but I struggle to find mascaras that don't overload my lashes with gunge. This one didn't - it just seperated my lashes and coloured them, giving them instant length and definition. The bottom cap provides the 'night' look. When you take the brush out of the tube it doesn't look any bigger or the bristles more compact than the LENGTH brush but the liquid product sticks to the brush more. Basically, how the brushes work is that the top brush is inserted into the bottom brush and so the VOLUME brush is really two brushes in one. I think that when you remove the top brush the liquid mascara is scraped off into the inner tube, so less product is left on the brush. It's a very clever design! The VOLUME brush is so loaded with mascara that it reminds me of other mascara products that aim for the same result such as Max Factor Bold Curves or their Falsies one. Using the VOLUME brush provides thickness and deep colour to lashes. It does leave the occaisonal flick of mascara hanging off a lash but if you brush your lashes it sticks back to the brush. The brush is straight though, so you have to angle your hand to apply. Ultimately it provides a brilliant, dramatic look to your eyes. I really love this mascara and it has totally replaced all the other mascaras I've been using up to now. I particularly love the LENGTH brush as it gives such a clear definition of lashes the type I've never seen before using other products. It gives a very professional look overall. I'm very pleased to have won one of these and would certainly pay for it no matter how much it cost! I used to regularly buy make up when I was in boots as more often than not they have some kind of promotion running. Since Christmas last year however I have been making a conscious effort to try and use what I have before buying something new but I did need some new mascara and foundation. As I walked in to boots I noticed that they had a three for the price of two promotion across the rimmel range and as I use rimmel foundation I stocked up on that and also bought the latest rimmel mascara called Day2Night. The mascara comes packaged in quite a funky tube in my opinion which is mainly a patent black but which has flashes of pink, white and silver writing. I would not mind pulling this out of my bag on a night out as it does look nice but it is quite a bulky tube due to its nature. Day2Night is a two in one mascara designed to give you the perfect look whether it be for the day or the night. It features two caps each with a wand in and they both have different functions: -the pink cap is designed to thicken your lashes giving you lots of volume with no clumps -the black cap is designed to give your lashes definition and length. The caps are clearly marked so there is no chance of getting them mixed up. Now personally I like my eyes to be the stand out feature when I am fully made up and so I use both of the caps together to create long full lashes most of the time but I have also used them individually as well. The brush designed to give your lashes volume is quite thick and chunky and a lot of mascara does stick to the brush. This does have the effect of coating the lashes well and making them look fuller but due to the amount of mascara on the brush they can look slightly clumped. I tend to try and wipe some of the excess mascara on to the inside of the cap so not to waste lots but that I have less going on to my lashes too. The brush designed to give the lashes length is longer than the volume brush but not by much and for me serves the purpose of lengthening my lashes well. I always use the lengthening brush after the volume one as I feel it helps to separate the lashes too. I am quite pleased with the effect this mascara creates as it is such a deep black that once applied my lashes really stand out and as I like my eyes to be the focus of my face this is good for me. I have to say though that the mascara is very wet once first applied and so care needs to be taken whilst applying it and I would say it takes a minute or so to fully dry. I always seem to want to sneeze just after applying it! I am able to remove the mascara with a make up or baby wipe but it doesn't come off all that easily much like many mascaras on the market. I don't like the greasy feel of specific mascara removers though so I always stick with this method and it does work well enough for me. I find that the mascara lasts well over the course of the day too and I never feel the need to reapply whilst at works and things although if I were going on a night out I would probably reapply it to get that stand out effect one more. The mascara costs £7.99 usually but boots often have it on offer for just £5.99 which is a good price to pay in my opinion. Boots often have promotions on the rimmel brand so it is definitely worth keeping your eyes open and looking out for them. It is not the best mascara that I have ever had but I think it is a very good offering all the same and I would probably purchase it again. Thank you for reading my review!
Yesterday, I was wandering around Superdrug looking for something new to try, I fancied some make up, but with loads to choose from, I couldn't decide. I then saw an advert for the new Rimmel Day 2 Night mascara, and it looked really good, so then thought I'd give it a go, and as I was curious how it worked, with the 2 brushes in 1 tube, looked slightly confusing! The product is black and pink, with the writing on mascara white and pink. The mascara has a "magic" double cap, with one cap having the brush that improves volume and one that improves length. The pink handle wand improves the volume, which has the bigger brush, and the black handle improves length with a thin brush. Rimmel claims the product will gives lashes "12x more volume" and "75% more length", which sounds pretty great really! I have to say using the word magic in the description is abit weird, as it isn't magic (sorry to ruin it!), the volume brush (pink handle) incorporates both brushes to improve volume, while length just uses the one brush. The mascara comes in 2 shades: Brown Black and Jet Black, I'm reviewing the Jet Black shade. Using the product is very easy, despite looking confusing, you just twist the cap you want (pink is volume and black is length), and apply the mascara to your lashes. The volume brush is quite thin, compared to other mascara brushes, and has twisted groves over the brush, but the big thing about this brush is a lot more mascara comes off on this brush compared to the length brush, so I would always use this brush for the initial coat of mascara. The length brush is slightly thicker then the volume brush, as it has both brushes connected, and very similar to the other brush, it has groves going up the brush. While speaking to a friend in America, she told me that the colours of handles are reversed on the ones sold in there, so bare that in mind in case some are sold in the UK. Applying the length and volume mascara brushes separately was really easy, it was the same as any other mascara and the brushes were really suitable for my eyelashes, as they weren't to harsh for my eye lashes. The volume brush applied the colour to my lashes really easily, just one application gave decent colour coverage, but any more applications my lashes became really clumpy, which isn't the look I wanted, so I would recommend just one application. The volume brush did add abit of volume for my lashes, but not as much as I expected, but still it worked! The length brush did add colour to my lashes (when using on bare eyelashes), but wasn't as much as the volume brush, which is probably why Rimmel have branded this the "day" mascara, as it is perfer and subtle for the day. Length wasn't noticeable improved using this brush. I'm not sure if your meant to use the brushes together (eg, apply the volume mascara then the length mascara) but I thought I'd give it a go, and was quite happy with the results. The volume was much improved, they looked much thicker and more obvious, but the length was again disappointing, as noting happened. The colour coverage was really nice, the black was a gorgeous colour and the coverage was smooth, but can easily go clumpy because of the amount of mascara the volume brush has. Although I am happy with the mascara, I have to say, it is good, but not better then any other mascara, I have tried many mascaras that give the same or similar results in improving volume. Good but not unique. I would recommend the mascara, it gives a brilliant coverage to lashes with a really gorgeous Jet Black colour, and decent volume improvement, but really it isn't any different to any other brand or even any other Rimmel mascara's, which is the major downfall. Rimmel Day 2 Night mascara is available at some bigger supermarkets, Boots and Superdrug and some other pharmacists and costs £7.99. Way to expensive for what it is.
