Review of Rimmel Duo Eyeshadow
Rimmel is a well-known make up range which is widely available both on line and in High Street stores. This duo eye shadow is one of my favourite items from the range.
==The Eye Shadow==
Rimmel present their duo eye shadow set in a palette containing two oblong pressed powder type eye shadows, I believe I purchased this from Boots sometime last year; the price was in the region of £4. I chose shade no 327 'Spice' which is fairly neutral colour wise. The set comprises of a warm brown shade and creamy beige. The set comes with a double ended applicator made from plastic with sponge tips. The applicator has a thick end for general application and shadow blending and a thinner end for more precise application. To be honest, I do not use the applicator as I prefer my trusty Boots No 7 eye shadow brushes which I've had for years and years!
These eye shadows are of a firm chalky texture; they do not crumble, yet are not so hard that you have to scrub at them to get any colour on your applicator. I must admit that I have used more of the darker colour and although I do like the beige, it is not quite as useful to me. The eye shadow does not come with a mirror which I think is a shame as a little mirror sited inside the lid would make such a difference when touching up your eye shadow on the move.
I find this eye shadow to be reasonably long lasting and it stays put without creasing or smudging. Of course, it has to be said that a great deal does depend on your skin type, I have dry, mature skin and this eye shadow suits me, however, I can imagine that a person with oily skin would need to re-apply far more regularly than I do.
This is probably best described as a basic everyday cosmetic, the packaging is plain and rather dull, the applicator is nothing special but the actual product is well worth trying.
==My Thoughts and Conclusion==
Rimmel have a wide colour range of eye shadows on the market and they seem to keep up with popular trends as well as stocking old favourites. Their eye shadows come in mono, duo, triple and quad versions and are competitively priced. I do not wear make-up everyday but I do like to have a nice selection to choose from. I have used Rimmel since my teens, I'm now 54 so I guess I could be described as a loyal customer, hint, hint Rimmel...any freebies?!
My eye shadow palette is now rather battered thanks to my mistreatment! I store my make up in a small set of drawers that sit on top of my dressing table top, this worked quite well until this eye shadow palette slipped over the back of the drawer and got broken as I slammed the drawers shut. I'm pleased to report that although the hinge and top of the palette broke, the actual eye shadow was unharmed so it is still useable; I just wouldn't take it out of the house now!
To conclude I consider this to be a good quality eye shadow which I have used over and over again. It is lasting extremely well and I would say that it has been very good value for money.
I am awarding Rimmel Duo Eye Shadow a 4* rating, dropping one star for the lack of mirror for touching up on the go.
I would recommend this eye shadow range to others.
