I like to have my nails painted in neutral, inoffensive shades during the day and Rimmel's 'French Manicure' collection comes in a range of fleshy, pearly colours designed to look naturally stunning but understated. I hoped that by using this polish my nails would look similar to the 'falsies' used by my best friend!

I have this Rimmel Nail polish in the colour 'peach melba' which is a pale, baby pink shade. I was worried at first that the colour might be a little insipid and would produce that 'corpse' effect on the fingernails! Infact, when applied, the colour is very transparent and simply highlights and deepens the healthy pink of the flesh underneath my nail. There is a high shine and a sleek finish too.

The polish is available in a 12ml bottle, which I think is a reasonable size. The packaging claims that the polish is "up to 5 days super durable" and chip resisitant. I have found that my nails will begin to look battered and scuffed after a days wear though. It is not so much chipped as simply scratched.

The 'new' formula contains LYCRA. I find that the polish is not too thick and glides onto the nail with ease. The brush is just the right length and pans out when you pull it across the surface, so it gives even, quick coverage. The polish drys very quickly too and although it has a chemically smell it is not too strong.

The polish does not become gloopy after a few uses and mine has stayed fresh and useable.

I do find that with this particular colour I can add a clear, top coat or paint the tips of the nail white quite easily. The polish provides the professional appearance which the brand is aiming for with this range and really does make my nails look like they have had professional attention.
