Rimmel London Get In Line Eyeliner
I have been using rimmel london products for years now and I have been quite impressed by all of the products (except the pressed powders they are always far to orangey!). In my bourjois brush foundation review I went to Hub in Manchester and this is the second thing I bought from there.
*About the product*
I think this product came out a few years ago as I can not find it on the rimmel london site and I have been seen it in larger supermarkets with a rimmel section either. It comes in a 2.5ml or 0.08 us fl oz bottle. I have the shade 600 copper brown, it also comes in a black.
*my opinion of the product*
-Packaging and Applicator wand
I do really like the packaging, it is sleek thin and very light so it is great for throwing in your bag or for traveling. It has a small ball in the eyeliner, like you can sometimes get in a nail polish bottle as well, and it keeps the eyeliner for drying out and it keep the colour mixed - so it is a solid continuous colour all the way through.
The wand/application for this product is also fantastic, with some eyeliner wands that I have used in the past they tend to be really thin, difficult to control and start to fray easily. But this one does not, it is really easy to control, it is not too thin and not really fat either.
I have the shade copper brown (600), they also make a black shade (800) too, but I am not sure if they make any others. The one I have is a dark/medium brown with a gorgeous gold shimmer in it, that what it catches the light it looks amazing.
The colour is really strong and vivid, it is not subtle or water-colour-like. It is very strong and it does not fade easily, it is definitely noticeable and gorgeous. The colour pay off for this product is fantastic, the colour is great, you get a lot of colour and pigmentation with this product.
-How to use
I use this product just to line my upper lash line with, which is what most people would probably do. But I have also tried it as an eyeshadow and it work well, although you only need the tiniest amount of product for that.
I am used to using liquid eyeliners (and also kohl pencil and gel/cream eyeliners) so I do not find this difficult to use but you could lean or rest your elbow on a table and then draw the line on.
I don't need to do that, I just hold it slated and parallel to my upper lash line and I draw a thin line to start with and then when I get to the end of the lash line I either stop there or flick it out - and I find that with this product it is really easy to flick the liner out and make it look kind of 50's pin up girl like.
-Application and results
I really like the application of the product it is super quick and easy, it does not take a make up artist to use this product and I think it would be suitable for people who want to start using a eyeliner but have trouble using it.
It is really easy to control the wand/applicator and it is easy to create winged out, flicked, curved or straight lines with this product. The application wand is firm, like is the same as a felt tip pen, but it is a a bit thicker.
This product is one of the easiest eyeliners I have used and it applies really smoothly, gentley and in one strong line of colour, which is great as you don't spend lots of time going over the line you have just drawn.
I like the results this product gives, it allows me to create a lot of different looks and it is a really nice colour. The shade 600 copper brown is a great alternative to the traditional black eyeliner and it works really well with a creamy neutral eye shadow underneath.
-Staying power and waterproof(ness)
The staying power for this product is really good, I find that it stays really well for most of the day. It is really great, although do not rub your eyes while wearing this product as it does come off slightly.
I have conducted a small experiment with this product to see how waterproof it is. It does not say any where on the bottle that it is waterproof, so before daring the rain with this product I conducted a shower test.
I applied this product to both my eyes before getting in the shower. On one eye I drew a thin line with a small amount of the eyeliner and on the other eye a drew a thicker line with obviously more product. I let it dry for about 5 minutes and then I patted the lines with a clean cotton pat to check there was not transfer, and there was not, so the first stage of the experiment had provided a positive results which made me feel more optimistic about the shower test...
After about 3 minutes in the shower both of the lines had started to run and there was quite a lot of the liner under my eyes, as it had run down. The optimism for this product at the start of the test was now a pile of ash on the floor, the test confirmed the product is not waterproof and at the end I looked like a copper brown panda (unless you are wanting to achieve this look, it is not great).
Overall, conclusions for the experiment...Not good.
-Price and availability
I bought this product from Hub in Manchester, it was only...£1.99! which is amazing and it was the reason I bought it. I was really pleased with the price and it is a good eyeliner, it is just not waterproof. This product is also available on amazon uk and is priced at £2.99 (without postage), but I have not seen this product in stores any where.
