Advantages: Easy application

Disadvantages: Runs and stings

I'm a big mascara fan as I love the long lash look. Apparently, it's designed to open up the eyes and make us look more vulnerable so men want to look after us?!

I'll start with the basics:

Packaging
********

This mascara looks quite stylish, if not expensive and the tube is mostly black with touches of metallic pink. The cap is black with a criss cross pattern and is flat at the top with the rimmel crown displayed in a pale pink background. On the bottom half of the mascara there is a small banner telling you it is a Rimmel London product and then up the side is 'Glam'eyes' written in pink swirly lettering with 'mascara' under it in block capitals. The tube is quite striking, but not in an offensive way, and the design is very stylishly executed. The only problem is that the colour of the mascara is only on the bar code sticker, so if you were to forget the colour or had two, this may be an issue as the bright white sticker does rather ruin the design.

Application
*********

To apply, it is a case of unscrewing the lid and pulling off, which will bring the brush with it. The brush is slightly curved and has lots of well spaced bristles to help avoid clumping. As you pull the brush out, there is some friction so this helps to even out the application and overall I find the mascara very easy to apply and it looks even and not clumpy.

Product
******

I do find that like most mascaras, this one needs a double application to achieve the 'ultra volume' they promise. It claims to be waterproof, and I've found that while it doesn't smudge if I cry, it does actually go on my eye and cause some quite severe stinging! Even if I don't cry, sometimes it can go in my eye which is really quite painful. Generally, it lasts a good day, but I need to re-apply if going out at night.

Details
*****

The tube is 8ml, a good size and mine has lasted me a good few months and hasn't run out yet.

It costs £6.84 at Boots, though there are sometimes promotions, which is a bit pricey. Head to rimmellondon.com and click on promotions for a chance to get a full size sample!!

Only available in brown/black and black.
