Advantages: Nice Casing
Disadvantages: Everything else
If you've read my "Maybelline miracle" review you'll already know, I'm no expert on make up or even on applying it.
The thing about mascara is, your either partial to using old (me), that you know and trust or you always want to try new (my daughter), for me I'm far happier using an old mascara because I know in advance what the finished result will look like. I was quite happy using my old mascara, when my daughter decided I'd been using my old trusty for to long. She told me to go out and treat myself to a new one. I was a bit dubious of this, but I went (without her) to buy a new one, this is the mascara I'm about to review.
--Rimmel Glam'Eyes Mascara--
The casing looks quite appealing, shiney black, with the words Glam'eyes mascara written up the side in pink, smooth feel up to about halfway, a shiney pink band around the middle displaying the words "Rimmel London" The screw on lid, that holds the wand and brush, displays a diamond pattern, with a shiney pink bit at the top displaying a black crown.
The casing also states "Ultra volume, high definition mascara".
You get 0.27 fl oz/8ml of mascara.
The wand, is about 3 inches long, with the brush on the end being an inch long. The bristles on the brush are very short, quite hard and evenly spaced, and the brush bows slightly.
The mascara itself is quite thick, and smells like some sort of glue.
--My experience of using the product--
I got home, all excited with my new mascara, and quickly went to try it out. On unscrewing the lid and pulling out the wand, (which popped, when I did so) I examined the brush as it looked very different to what I was used to, it was much longer, thinner and harder, and seemed terribly bendy. It didn't look to me to have much mascara on it, so I pushed the wand back in, in order to get more on the brush. (This was when it all started to go wrong). When I pushed the wand back into the base, it wouldnt go straight back in, it decided it was going to bend all over the place, causing the brush to flip out, thus getting mascara all over my hand. I was a bit miffed at this but I thought I'd spent enough money on it, I had to at least try it out. So with the wand/brush in hand ready, (slightly) coated with mascara, I started to apply, (the same way I always have, and it's always looked ok in my opinion) I was not impressed at all, it would not go on as I wanted it to, it looked clumped up and ugly. I hated the brush, it bent everywhere but where I wanted it to bend.
I'd had enough, I was really disappointed with it, I scrubbed my face clean, then threw the mascara in the back of my drawer.
--Overall--
I should really put my experience of using this product down to my own "inexperience" with make up in general, but to be fair, other mascaras I've used have never been this bad, so it can't be all my fault. If like me, you struggle to apply mascara at the best of times or are new to applying mascara, my advice would be to avoid this one. (I blame my daughter, she should have been there to advise me, only joking)
I paid £7.19 for this mascara from superdrug, some may think that's quite a reasonable price, but if your on a tight budget, it's quite a lot of money to fork out, especially if you end up with the same result I did.
I gave this product 1 star, and that's because I like the casing, and that's all I like about it.
Thank you for reading my review, which may also appear on Ciao under username "Myredpip".
Summary: If your a novice when it comes to Mascara, avoid this one.
