Disadvantages: Does not add that much volume and length
I like the Rimmel brand and own many of their products. They are a popular high street cosmetics company which sell good make up items, fortunately not at completely unaffordable prices. Obviously, there are many, many cheaper products out there, but I have always trusted Rimmel's products... whereas trust is yet to be gained for some of those cheaper companies.
I decided to give a this Rimmel Glam'eyes Mascara a go as I was on my never ending hunt for a mascara that was both brilliant effect wise and good value for money, and also I had seen this product around quite a lot and had been quite tempted to buy it. Since I had owned products from their Glam'eyes range before and had been quite pleased with the results achieved, I thought that giving it a try would be a good idea- maybe I would even find a fantastic mascara that I would want to stick to.
At £7.19 a tube, it cannot really be considered as a very cheap product, but it is not as expensive as some mascaras from other high street cosmetics brands either. I would say that the price is around average for a mascara like this, so all in all I was not too hesitant to hand over my money in exchange for this mascara.
The mascara tube looks quite nice, rather classy and a little old fashioned. The main colours used on the tube are black and a nice light pink shade. The lid, which is slightly slanted and bears the embellishment of the Rimmel crown (which is its logo) can be twisted open so you can pull out the brush. Altogether, the look of the tube is quite aesthetically pleasing, but I did find it to be a little bit dull and nothing too spectacular on the eyes.
The brush can be pulled out of the mascara tube- you can feel the bristles grazing the sides quite a lot when it is being extracted. Though there are quite a lot of bristles, they haven't been absolutely packed onto the brush like some other mascaras. I also noticed that the bristles were slightly shorter compared to other mascara brushes I have come across before. I found that the brush is slightly flexible and bendy, so that it is easy to manoeuvre on your eye lashes when you are applying it.
The results achieved were... not bad, but nothing terrifically good either. I did notice that my eye lashes looked darker from the dark black of the mascara, with a little bit of extra volume, but nothing too spectacular, really. It looks fine for every day use when you are not looking to make such a huge impact, but if you are looking for something really dramatic and noticeable, then unfortunately, this does not do it for you. This acts as a fairly average mascara without the added 'oomph' that a good mascara needs. For the money, the results are OK, but not as good as they absolutely could be.
Overall, this is quite an average mascara with nothing too spectacular to it at all. At least this was not a complete and utter disappointment unlike many mascaras I have tried in the past; however, I do not think that this was worth the money paid. At least it was cheaper than some other (mostly more disappointing) mascaras. This is not a terrible mascara, but it is not fantastic either, so I would call it an average standard mascara. Therefore, I will go for the middle mark and give this product 3 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
Summary: An average mascara for an average price
