Some many not agree with my claim, but let me explain.
Before I bought my first foundation I looked to the help on youtube videos and beauty gurus and this is the only one I found over and over again! - If you look at these videos you may notice the packaging may be different as they did update the way it looked.
Both UK and US gurus said this was the best foundation and I agree!
This foundation comes in loads of different shades and i found that there is one main shade that works for everyone - the shade of which I can't remember...
Not only that, but this foundation lasts for ages! And i mean in terms of how much you get! With many highstreet foundations they are great, but, they don't last very long and you end up spending alot more!
Does it last for 25 hours? - Is this what it claims? I can't remember, well it lasts for a very long time!! I never used to wear primer and when I took my makeup off some still came off. When i used my primer it lasts for longer, and although it may not be as full coverage as it was when you started, it still looks great! - And to be honest, you may have a problem if you want to wear makeup for that long!!!
I love the texture of this foundation and although some may know of better high street foundations out there - i doubt they are as cheap, or last as long as this foundation!!!!
A truly great foundation and I still have my first bottle!! (I changed to mac)
Finding a decent foundation can be quite a challenge, one you find may be great for the first hour or so after application and another may be awful from the moment your pour/squeeze it out of it's container. For me I am yet to find the perfect foundation and on my hunt for this perfect one (should it ever exist) I have tried some which are good and some which are bad. My latest buy and by latest I mean a few months ago was the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation.
The main reason for my purchase was that (a) it was on offer and (b) I was in my local Wilkinsons at the time and they only stock Rimmel. I have had a bit of a hit and miss relationship with Rimmel over the years and the under a fiver price tag made the purchase easy to make. Rimmel is of course a brand known for it's high street name and wide range of products (as well as the adverts on TV). It isn't an expensive brand so appeals to the young and old whether on a budget or not.
Rimmel market the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation as one for those that lead a stressful life "early mornings, late nights". For me this is true, a 3 year old daughter, busy job in a law firm, horses, dogs, partner, my life is stressful and busy and sometimes it does of course show! According to Rimmel this is their first "sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof" foundation with lasts up to 25 hours - a rather large claim! But none the less, all women who wear foundation would like to find that one which doesn't wear thin after a few hours or need re-application during the day.
The foundation comes in a tall, clear glass bottle which features a red, almost metallic slightly angled top (which also features the crown logo). Around the glass bottle there is of course the Rimmel logo together with the product name as well as brief information about the product and the usual ingredients list and contact information for Rimmel. The bottle has a pump action red top making it easy to apply whether straight onto your hand/fingers or onto a sponge/brush.
The first thing I noticed when I went to apply this foundation is its consistency. It isn't thin and watery and it isn't too thick either. It has a great, smooth consistency which I found very easy to apply and to smooth onto the skin without any trouble at all. I use a combination of a sponge and my fingers to get a natural, even looking finish and this foundation had no problems whatsoever. I do however, use it over a primer but Rimmel do advise that it is enriched with a moisturising aqua primer.
According to Rimmel the foundation will leave your skin feeling "energized, hydrated and lightweight all day". For me, I do find the foundation very lightweight but then I don't apply lots of layers as I do prefer a more even, natural look rather than going for the clown look. However, it is definitely lightweight and I found that it doesn't cake or start to wear quickly as sometimes a foundation can cling to any dryness on the skin but this doesn't seem to and gives an even finish all over. Nor does it dry out the skin, I do have sensitive skin on my face and this hasn't yet caused any problems at all as I have used other foundations which are quite drying.
But does it last 25 hours? The answer is no, not really. If your expecting the foundation to look like you've just applied it after 10 hours then your aiming a little high, yes it still manages to give an even look but if you are wanting that fresh finish you get when you've just applied it, then no it will need reapplying but for me, the fact that it wears well makes me like it as it does last quite some considerable time without wearing badly on the skin so for me, I'm not that bothered.
Overall, this is definitely a foundation that I won't mind buying again even at its recommended retail price of £6.99 I think it is worth it and a bit of a bargain. It is light to the touch and definitely not oily in any way. Other than it not living up to its 25 hours claim (which lets face it, would be impossible) I don't really have any complaints about it. Definitely one to try if you are looking for a new foundation or wanting to try something else. Do however, be warned there are only 6 shades which for some may prove a very limited choice. 4 stars from me.
== Product Information ==
Price: RRP £6.99
I've tried every end of the market for foundations from the cheap to the very expensive and found none I'd rate as high as this one. I wouldn't say it lasts a full 25 hours but it certainly gives you total coverage for a lot longer than others do, possibly need re applying in the evening if you were going out. It's thick and feels like good quality without having that caking effect. The bottle is nicely designed and looks well on your dresser in your makeup bag. With the pump you don't have any wasted, you just pump the amount you need and even if you lose the lid none will spill or pour out, big fan of this. I buy the soft beige colour and it suits my tone perfectly but there's a range of shades to choose from. I think this item is priced very fairly for the amount of time it lasts you and the quality of it.
Over the years, I have tried many many foundations. This is the one I am currently using.
I purchased Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation in Soft Beige for £7.99. The bottle is clear and made of glass with a red lid and a red pump to dispense the foundation. The foundation claims to be transfer resistant and lasts 25 hours without fading. With a smooth lightweight coverage.
To disperse the foundation you use the pump. Clever design as it means you can use as much or as little as you need with next to no waste, however, it also means that you can't pump out the last bit when you get to the bottom, which means you have to unscrew the lid and either pour it out or scrape it off the tube to avoid wasting a lot of the bottle.
The liquid goes on smoothly and is easy to blend with either your fingers, a sponge or a foundation brush. The finish is matte with medium coverage. It is not quite heavy enough for me as I have acne scarring and find it doesn't cover this adequately. It doesn't feel cakey or heavy on my skin and looks natural.
I set it with powder and find it does last all day, I don't know about 25 hours but it lasts a good 8-10 hours as I always take my make up off before bed. I also find it doesn't transfer onto my clothes if I have to change or try clothes on throughout the day.
A good foundation if you just need light/medium coverage.
Recently I have stepped down the make up routine to the bare minimum and opting for a natural look for summer. However, for the past three years I have been using Rimmel's lasting finish foundation to give me the coverage I wanted and needed when I was going out. I have used it a few times a week and only recently I have reached the end of the bottle. Make-up for me is not essential to wear everyday, but it is essential to own in case you are having a bad day and fancy boosting your confidence a little with some glamour!
~~~*|The Foundation brand itself- why Rimmel?|*~~~
I tend to stick within a budget with make-up because I don't think it's wise to invest everything into one aspect like foundation, instead I like to have a few different things to use like most people (or some people prefer to apply make up only on certain areas of their face). I purchased Rimmel from Boots for about £8 after trying many samples from different brands and in the end only Rimmel was able to blend into my skin tone perfectly (Shade- soft beige.) It is a reliable, fashionable brand which I would trust and choose over a random store brand. Now it is available RRP £6.99 (price has dropped).
~~~*|About how I used it|*~~~
I usually dispensed a small drop onto my finger to start with and dabbed it around my face like under my eyes were the dark circles would be or onto blemishes on my skin and then gently rub it in. This would leave a very very thin base coat for me (before this I would already be wearing moisturiser or mix it with the foundation before applying). Then, I would take another small squirt from the bottle and cover the rest of my face making sure I don't cake it all over but just touch up certain areas subtly, still using my fingertips. Finally I would dab small amounts onto blemishes and that despite the two applications of thin layers were visible - I would do a thin patch and not blend it in. Sounds crazy I know but I just let it dry for a couple of minutes. Finally I would finish off with some compact powder for a matte appearance and blusher on the cheekbones to finish off. And that would be my usual face routine.
~~~*|Usage - 25 hours, really?|*~~~
Considering there are only 24 hours in a day anyway, I'm not sure why they thought making it last an extra hour so you go into the next day would make it so different and special. Personally, although I was pleased with the coverage I did not feel the need to wear it for longer than a 9am-5pm working day, I would try and cleanse it all off as soon as I could, or I would wear it out to parties in the evenings and it would last nearly all night with a little bit sweating off. I think the time period they say is unrealistic unless you really cake it on, in which case your pores would be clogged for ages if you put a lot on so I don't encourage this practice!
~~~*|Ease of removal|*~~~
Being such a long lasting foundation, I always feared it would never come off or be a nightmare to remove, but actually by using a good cleanser (like the one by Simple which I also reviewed) MOST of it came off. The rest I had to use an exfoliating or normal face wash to get rid of.
~~~*|Would I recommend this?|*~~~
In my eyes, the point and purpose of a product depends on the user. What do you want this foundation for? If you want some heavy coverage then yes, applying a sufficient amount of this foundation will do you good temporarily. However, if you are looking for a light daily wear foundation, I would recommend a BB cream or using a very small amount of this as it is liquid foundation and probably not a great thing to start with especially if your skin is still young this product should be used as an extra rather than a default choice.
I know it can be hard once you get hooked onto wearing make-up and dressing up for some girls, but beauty lies in simplicity and make-up that enhances your pre-existing features brings out the best in everyone!
After trying several foundations on the market, a few years ago I settled on Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. It's affordable, it goes on easily, the coverage is good and I don't feel caked.
I trooped into Boots to buy it a couple of weeks ago, and found that the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation was on offer for £2 cheaper, at £4.99 instead of the usual £6.99 that both the foundations usually cost. Confession time - I'm a miser. I really HATE spending money. This foundation looked exactly the same as the other one, it was still Rimmel, it just had a red lid instead of a blue one. I decided it was worth taking the risk and getting the slightly different foundation to save myself £2. I was wrong.
INFO: This review is on the shade 'True Ivory', although this foundation comes in six different colours. I'm 26 so I have a young skin tone, and I would consider it 'normal' and generally blemish free. I'm just a bit pale, hence the ivory!
Rimmel Lasting Finish comes in a circular bottle with a lid which clicks on and off. There was a piece of sticky plastic holding the lid place so I know nobody else had poked about with it beforehand. The lid is red and has the Rimmel crown signal embossed on the top.
The glass is clear, but I find the foundation sticks to the sides so you can't see how much you have left, although shaking it and the weight is usually a good indication.
The front of the bottle has a clear sticker with information about the product, apparently it lasts 25 hours. I have no idea why 25, maybe 24 hours didn't sound cool enough? 24 hours is a bit average. Anyway, I admit I never tested the 25 hour theory. Staceymylove needs her beauty sleep.
The bottle is fairly standard size, holding 1 fluid oz/30 ml e of foundation. The bottle promised transfer proof foundation and a lightweight feel.
The back of the bottle has ingredient information, and tells me that this product is sweat, heat and humidity proof, and enriched with a mineral complex and aqua primer. It also promises that my skin would feel energised and hydrated all day.
The glass is bottle, so it can be washed out and recycled after use, although the lid and pump will need to be thrown away.
The bottle works on a pump, which I personally like. I know some people feel that pumps mean you can lose some of the product when you get to the end, but the Rimmel bottle pumps unscrew, so I tend to leave them upside down towards the end of the bottle, and then tap it out onto the back of my hand (I told you - complete miser) I think pumps are less messy, easy to use and help the product go further.
I tend to pump some product onto the back of my hand and use a make up sponge to apply to my face. I find around 3-4 good pumps is enough to cover my whole face. Using a sponge does mean you lose some product sinking into the sponge, but I find it leaves a comfortable even cover to the face and is less messy than using my fingers. I have heard that using a brush is better and tends to be used by makeup artists but I'm yet to try this.
After applying, everything seemed ok. It went on very easily, it felt lightweight and the same as my usual foundation. Later that day, I looked in the mirror in the toilets at work and realised I could see a very distinct line around my jaw. I did my best to blend it in with my fingers. A couple of days later, I noticed in my rear view mirror in my car that my skin tone looked a bit off. There were patches of skin that looked different to others. I kept using the foundation, but made a real point of trying to blend it across my face and across my jawline, which I never had to pay too much attention with with the True Match foundation. I saw my mum one evening and she commented that my makeup wasn't blended very well, but I still gave it the benefit of the doubt, thinking I was applying it wrong or some way at fault.
That weekend, I was driving to a family party and Mr Mylove turned to me, a bit apprehensive, and said "Don't take this the wrong way, but your face looks weird." I pulled up at my aunties and checked myself in the mirror, again the coverage was patchy and quite frankly I looked like I had some kind of skin disease. On arrival I went up to my aunties bathroom and tried to blend the coverage with my fingers but it wasn't doing anything. I ended up nicking a facial wipe and taking most of it off.
I genuinely can't believe how much of a difference there was between the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation and the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation. They look identical, just slightly different fonts and information, and different coloured lids. I was expecting pretty much the same product. I ended up abandoning the Lasting Finish foundation and going back to True Match (so I ended up buying twice - annoying!)
I was applying the foundation very carefully, but it was coming up patchy on my face. I never experienced this with the other Rimmel foundation. I looked at other DooYoo reviews of this product which seem to be generally favourable. I have no idea why it did this on my skin.
I would say that for me, this foundation would only really be useful if I decided to play an epic game of zombies. It was patchy and weird, and just made my skin look bad. As somebody who never really has skin problems, it made me feel very self conscious and I quickly bought my usual brand.
I hate wastage but I have a 95% full bottle of this stuff - if anybody knows anything useful I can do with it suggestions welcome!
Rimmel attatches quite a promise to this new venture, claiming that it is 'sweat, heat, humidity and transfer-proof for up to a full 25 hours'. I am going to be honest and say that I was sceptical about this. Whilst I am a fan of high-street/drugstore foundations, they rarely live up to their long-lasting claims. (I also wondered why on earth you would need your foundation to last for 25 hours?)
The colour I was sent was 'sand'. This is a tiny bit dark for me with, what was in my opinion, a slightly unnatural undertone. I will point out here that the shade range for this foundation is terrible. The website states that the product is available in 6 shades. 6?! I'm not sure if the range in-store is wider, but this is terrible. I'm not sure who Rimmel are catering for here, but they are seriously limiting their market. Especially when the shades lean towards a slightly biscuity/orange undertone.
I applied the foundation to my face and the colour-match wasn't too noticable. I tested it out by applying with both my fingers and also a stipling brush, and the foundation was easy to blend both times. I also noticed immediately that it has a lovely, fresh scent, which is always appealing for something you're putting on your face! The scent disappeared once you'd applied it though, which is also a positive in my book.
The product provided a nice medium coverage and dried to a slightly dewy finish. I wouldn't say it was all-out dewy, but it left a slight sheen to the skin. I'm more of a matte girl myself, so this was a little much for me. It also left a slightly tacky feeling to the skin (similar to MAC's Face&Body, but not as bad). I am guessing that this, and the dewy-ness, are due to the moisturizing and hydrating properties that Rimmel advertise, stating that your skin will be reenergised.
The only down-side to the application was that I felt the product clung slightly to any dry patches on my face. But this may have been because the shade was slightly too dark for me anyway. But it's something to be aware of.
The real test was how the foundation had fared up by the end of the day. When I came to look in the mirror I was expecting oily and patchy. It hadn't controlled my shine completely, but I was pleasantly surprised! The foundation had pretty much stayed put from the morning and when I removed my make up there was a substantial amount of product on the cotton wool pad too, which is a good sign!
pros and cons are:
+ Medium coverage
+ Dewy finish
+ Blends easily
+ Fresh scent
+ Staying power
- Narrow shade range
- Tacky feeling to skin
Now you would think that after all those plus points I would be raving about this foundation.
But it's just not for me.
I don't like a dewy finish. I don't like the tacky feeling. And for these reasons, I could 'feel' it on my face. I need more mattifying control!
However, if you like a dewy finish and are looking for a long-lasting high street foundation then I would definitely recommend giving Lasting Finish 25 Hour a go! Particularly for those of you who don't suffer from more oily skin. I'm sure some of you will love it!
It out-lasts many other high street brands and I will definitely be using it again especially as the price is only £6.99 in major beauty stores which is a bargain for the size bottle you get!
CONCLUSION: Not for me...but could well be for you!
I am the type of person who loves to switch and swap between makeup and love to try out new products. The downfall to this swapping around is the disappointment when a product isnt as good as it says it is thus wasting money! However, my foundation swapping days ended once I used rimmel london lasting finish 25 hour foundation!
I originally had low expectations of the product as I had so far failed lots of times in my search for a perfect foundation. So, I was very much a happy happy girl when I tried this product and it ticked all the boxes of a fantastic foundation.
It has a good quality look about it from first sight, a glass bottle with red lid, and underneath the red lid is a matching red pump. The pump makes it very easy to release the required amount of product, no bottle shaking or bottom bashing or hard squeezing which many other products need . Then there's the application. Now, I myself use my fingers to dab little blobs of foundation all over my face and neck, then rub it all in. This product is perfect for this! Its consistency is perfect so the blobs stay where they've been put, and then it rubs in beautifully and evenly. With other brands iv found clumping type gathering in places near my eyes and nose but this has never done such a thing! It looks beautiful either worn alone or under other makeup such as face powder or bronzer etc. Covers spots, dark circles and freckles perfectly and further more it lasts all day long! ! I have absolutely no arguments for the claim of 25 hour coverage as I can put it on early for work and have no need to re do my makeup in the evening. Perfect for those with a busy lifestyle.
Comes in a 30ml bottle, which lasts me a good month and a half at least and I wear makeup every single day without fail. Priced in shops at around £6.99, I feel this is a perfect price for a perfect product. Leaves my face feeling soft, definitely doesnt dry out my skin. Comes in a variety of shades and seems to adapt very well to the actual colour of my skin. The only downside iv found is the odd spot now and then but all in all the best foundation iv ever used! Iv never even been tempted by another product since using it.
Up until recently, I'd been using Rimmel's Stay Matte foundation, but I'd been finding that it was sometimes a little too 'dry' in texture for my skin, which can be prone to dry patches anyway. With a birthday gift voucher for Boots burning a hole in my pocket, I decided to give Rimmel's Lasting Finish a go.
Lasting Finish foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser. I'm used to foundation that comes in tubes and is squeezed out, toothpaste style, so the pump dispenser took a little getting used to. The first time I used it, I had to press the pump several times to get any foundation out, then a rather large blob squirted out. I tried gamely to apply it all to my face, but it was too much - I tend just to apply small dots of foundation to areas of my face to even out my skin tone, rather than going for full coverage. However, after using the pump for the first time, I found it much easier to control and I can dispense very small drops just by partially pressing the pump.
Lasting Finish comes in six shades. I bought True Ivory, which was a good match for my 'Scottish' complexion. The foundation does indeed have a more hydrating effect than the Stay Matte foundation I was used to. The wording on the bottle claims that Lasting Finish includes a 'moisturizing aqua primer', which told me nothing except that it contained water, although at least I suppose this means Rimmel isn't trying to sell me a separate primer! I did notice that the foundation lasts for 2 years after opening, so assumed it also contained some hefty preservatives. Having seen the full ingredients list now, parabens are listed, as well as a whole host of other chemicals.
Lasting Finish is, of course, branded as foundation that lasts on the skin for up to 25 hours. My days of partying all night are over, so I've been unable to road-test that claim. In fact, when I first picked up the bottle in Boots, I couldn't comprehend the 25-hour claim and my first thought was, 'who goes for 25 hours without washing their face?', maybe showing my age. However, I can say that this foundation does well on a 16-hour day and doesn't need to be fixed. I tend to apply a little of Rimmel's Clear Complexion powder on top of the foundation to deal with any shine, and the combination does stay fresh in appearance all day.
Lasting Finish foundation normally sells for £6.99 for a 30ml bottle. I got mine on a 'buy one, get one half price' cosmetic promotion, so it didn't break the bank.
Overall, I'd give this foundation four stars. It has got quite a scary ingredients list, and the pump dispenser can be a bit tricky at first, but I'm also quite happy with the level of hydration it gives my skin and its staying power.
This is by far one of the best liquid foundations that I have used. It comes in a good sized bottle which lasts me months because I only have to use a small amount.
It's easy to apply if you apply a small amount onto the back of your hand, you can either use a brush or just the tips of your fingers to rub it in and voila!
It's reasonably priced (£7-£8 in most places, I bought mine from morrisons) which is quite rare in branded make up, so a good start and because it's Rimmel, it's easy to get hold of in most supermarkets, chemists etc.
I use the palest shade they do because I really am milk bottle white, so even a light shade a lot of the time won't blend well with my skin. However this isn't the case with this.
It covers my freckles without concealer and makes your skin tone look nice and even, but I do find that for particularly red spots I still do have to use concealer.
As I said before, it blends nicely with your skin and leaves no patches whatsoever.
It's also easy to wipe off, doesn't feel greasy and doesn't have the nasty smell which a lot of foundations do.
I have been using various versions of Rimmel Foundation probably for about 15 years. On several occasions I have got quite attached to a specific type only to find them discontinuing it, and then having to try a new version. I hate it when that happens!
Foundation is probably the most important part of my relatively minimal makeup collection. Without it I feel naked, and it is extremely rare that I'll go out of the house without it on. I think it's more a psychological thing than anything else as I don't look THAT bad without it on, but I just feel awful!
Since I'm happy with this product I always make sure I never get to the end of a tube without having a new one ready to start! This means that now I'm living partly at mine and partly at my boyfriend's, that I need to have a tube in both places.
There do seem to be two different versions of packaging for this product. Mine is not like dooyoo's picture (which I think might be the newer version), but it is definitely the 25 hour Lasting Finish foundation that I'm reviewing!
Mine comes in a smallish (30ml or 1 fl oz) black and clear plastic tube (a bit like a mini toothpaste), with a small hole in the top which means that not too much of the product comes out at once. It's really easy to use while there's plenty in it. Due to the clear bits of the tube you can actually see the colour of the foundation.
One downside of this foundation is that I find it can be quite difficult to get it out towards the end of the tube. That said though, it does still seem to last for ages even when it seems like there's barely anything left in it. Therefore I have plenty of warning to get a new one. Since I hate to waste any (although it's not expensive, it's not as cheap as some things), over the years I have ended up making some messes as a result of trying to get the last bits out, and ending with a load of it on my mirror, dressing table and carpet!
---Using the foundation---
After covering any spots and blemishes (I do this again after applying foundation) I squeeze some out of the tube onto my finger and then applying small blobs onto my nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Then I work the foundation into my skin starting with the nose and working outwards. It has a slight scent to it, but nothing you really notice when wearing it every day (only when smelling for review purposes!), and it's fairly pleasant.
I find the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation easy to blend in with my pale skin, although having had a couple of experiences with spotting a few orangey patches when entering a room with mirror and bright light, I take special care to make sure it is all blended in, especially at the sides of my face and under my chin.
After using foundation I generally finish off my makeup with a bit of powder on top to avoid any potential shiny spots. As for the claims of lasting 25 hours...well I am rarely up for 25 hours, so will usually have removed my make up (this does come off well with a wipe at the end of the day) and applied new the next day before the 25 hours is up. However, I find that this does last well, and I would not generally reapply foundation in the same day, unless of course having a shower and then needing to do all makeup again before going out!
I don't know exactly how long one of these lasts me, but with everyday (and fairly generous I think) use it seems to last for ages, I'd say a good couple of months.
I use the Natural Ivory tone which fits well with my pale complexion and gives me a little bit of colour. This foundation also comes in shades such as Soft Beige and Sand, so you should be able to find something which matches your skin.
My tube contains a massive list of ingredients (so it would be worth checking if you have any skin sensitivities). It is also said to be sweat, heat and humidity proof, transfer resistant, and enriched with a revitalising Mineral Complex and moisturising Aqua Primer. Skin is meant to feel energised and hydrated all day. I'm not entirely convinced by this, however I am still happy with my skin when wearing this, and feel confident to face the world, and although I wouldn't say it leaves my skin flawless as it says on the packaging, it doesn't leave any flaws that people will notice!
I tend to buy my Rimmel foundation from eBay, generally paying between £4(ish) and £5.50 (including p & p). It often works out cheaper buying more than one at a time. Compared to a lot of foundations I think that this is an excellent price for a product which I find works well for me. I have been using this (or variations of) for years, and intend to continue doing so.
5 out of 5 stars!
As I am a student living in Nottingham and I also live with my boyfriend in Norfolk, I have two sets of make up so that I don't have to cart it around everywhere. For some reason, some of the items in both collections are different and one thing I have at my boyfriend's is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation.
Foundation is one of those staple make up products that I just can't live without. Although I do have pretty good skin, I don't like how it looks without having foundation on. I also do really long days at work so I wanted something that would last for my whole shift without coming off half way through. This is mainly the reason why I bought Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation. With the promise of lasting 25 hours, I was sure that it would be a good foundation that would last a good amount of time.
Rimmel is a well-known cosmetics brand now and can be found in shops like Superdrug, Boots and most supermarkets too. This foundation was bought from Superdrug and cost £6.99 although it is sometimes on offer either on its own or when you buy other Rimmel products. £6.99 is an average price for a foundation so I didn't think it was overpriced at all and I was quite happy to pay this.
The colour of foundation I chose was True Ivory which is colour number 103. The foundation claims to be heat, humidity and transfer proof which I guess is what would make it last so long. The colour inside the glass bottle was much like any other ivory coloured foundation I have bought in the past and once on my face, it suited my skin colour perfectly. The foundation is creamy and thick but didn't need much working in before my skin looked smooth and more even.
While the foundation colour did suit my skin really well, it unfortunately does not last 25 hours. Our phone at work ended up being covered in a foundation coloured powder after using it quite a few times throughout the day. Luckily, I did not experience the foundation coming off on my clothes or hands though. The foundation did last through an 8 hour shift at work, even with some of it coming off on the phone although it didn't last too much longer than that. There is no way that this foundation will last the 25 hours it says it will, unless you put it on, sit in the same spot for 25 hours and not move at all.
Although this doesn't do what it claims to do, this is a good foundation and I would still probably buy it again due to it suiting my skin so well.
I am always suspicious when make-up products claim to have super long lasting abilities as they are usually way off the mark. The make-up I find that tends to last the longest is more expensive quality brands that don't tend to shout about the fact they are long lasting. Unfortunately these products are expensive so I am always suckered in to trying out high street ones that go heavy on the advertisements.
Rimmel lasting finish foundation claims to last on skin for 25 hours and this is definitely a huge exaggeration as although I would never dream of keeping foundation on my skin for 25 hours I am lucky if this can go a whole day and in to night before needing to be touched up if not completely reapplied.
I have Rosacea which makes my skin look red and flushed so I was pleased to see that this was quite a thick foundation and not too runny. On my skin the colour looks good and it blended well with my own natural skin tone and although it did a good job of covering my flaws it didn't look too heavy and unnatural on my skin.
I actually didn't mind the foundation as it was decent enough for the price but where I have a problem is with the exaggerated claims that it lasts 25 hours. This is nowhere near what it lasts and in fact it isn't even that good at staying put for a few hours. It tends to come off when touching things and even just dabbing my mouth with a napkin tends to leave the napkin covered in foundation.
I have worn it to work and then out for drinks afterwards and I had to touch it up in between as parts of my face were missing foundation where it had rubbed off. I tend to have quite greasy skin so this might have been a part of the problem but surely the foundation should be suitable for people with greasy skin too.
All in all I actually quite liked the coverage this gave but because of the exaggerated claims about longevity I have to mark it down. The claims are just so wildly off the mark that it is close to blatent lies and for this reason I probably wouldn't buy it again.
A bottle of this costs around about £6.99 which isn't a bad price but I still wouldn't recommend it unless you are planning on never touching your face while wearing it.
I'm always looking for cheap make up however after trying many cheap foundations I realised that if I wanted good quality I would have to pay for it. This product cost me £6.49 in Boots. Rimmel isn't a brand I would normally use so I was unsure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I think the bottle is lovely. It looks very stylish, it stands out on the shelves and you get a lot in it. I particularly liked the idea of 25 hour coverage. I'm not one of these people who spends my lunch breaks in the toilets touching up my make up. I put it on in the morning and I'm lucky if I even look in the mirror never mind touch up my make up until I get home at night.
When I first used this product I noticed it had a pleasant smell to it. I also liked the texture. It was more runny than other foundations I have used which made it much easier to apply in my opinion. After application I thought it looked great and smelled good too but when I went into a different light I noticed that my neck was considerably lighter than my face. I'm quite pale and I bought this product in Ivory which is the lightest they have so perhaps this product would be better for someone with darker skin. However, I am pleased to say that even though my face was darker than my neck it didn't look orange at all which is a problem I have encountered with other foundations.
Although I'm lucky enough I don't get spots very often I do have quite bumpy skin so I was happy to see this product made my skin look really smooth and it felt very soft.
Although I can't comment on whether this product does provide 25 hour coverage because I don't wear make up for 25 hours at a time. I have noticed that I can wear this product all day and I do not need to touch it up.
I have only had this product for a short time but I am very impressed with everything except for the colour. If I had darker skin or if Rimmel provided it in a lighter colour I would buy it again. Unfortunately it is just too dark for my skin colour.
I recently bought this foundation as it was on offer and i thought i would give it a go, however there is not a massively wide range of skin tone colours to match it and for me (who is extremely pale) found it very difficult to be happy with the result. It is a very good foundation in that it isn't oily or damaging to the skin (at least not in my case) but depending on the texture of your skin, it doesn't always applicate greatly.
As for the fact that it is supposed to last 25 hours, im afraid to say it didn't on me. From putting it on at 7am in the morning, i would be lucky if 15 hours later when i went to bed it was still on my face when i removed my make up with a make-up wipe. Only a very little amount would come off onto the wipe.
This is a great shame as it promises 25 hours, or at least a time around that number but in my case only lasted a maximum of 17.
On a positive note it blends in incredibly well and once is on you cannot see the difference between your skin colour and the foundation, all blotches covered.
