I purchased a couple of shades of this lipstick after hearing good reviews of the product and spying a beautiful shade of red and lovely pink under toned colour online. I bought the products as the price is good value for two lipsticks regardless of the brand in my view. The colours were nice, not as highly pigmented as i had expected so i had to reapply to my lips frequently as the colour did not last long despite its 'lasting finish' name and claim.
I also found that i had to apply a hydrating lip balm before using the lipstick and dab on some vaseline or other lip balm in-between applications in order to avoid my lips becoming horrible, dry and flaky. I found that in order to maintain the pigmentation of the colour i was having to reapply the lipstick every half hour or at least every hour and i became very conscious of the colour of my lips so i was frequently checking what they looked like and whether my lips were looking overly dry or flaky.
For the price i would say that the lipsticks are average however i do not think that i would repurchase them as they did make my lips very dry and flaky which does not look good! Maybe if you mixed the formula with a hydrating liquid then it could be used as a lip colour, otherwise it is a product i will not be repurchasing and definitely do not recommend to others.
ABOUT: This lipstick gives your lips a high colour impact for up to 8 hours wear. The lipstick has a smooth, creamy texture for comfortable wear all day long. I believe there are a total of 13 shades in this particular range and I chose one call 'Nude Pink' which is quite a light colour and probably one of the lightest available in the range.
The lipstick comes in dark packaging which looks almost black but upon closer inspection it actually looks a very dark shade of purple. There is a silver coloured ring around the middle of the lipstick which separates the lid from the rest of the packaging. The silver ring has the brand name and logo on it. The top of the lid to the packaging is slanted slightly and also features the Rimmel logo which is a crown. On the bottom of the packaging it clearly states the number and name of the shade which in this case is 'Nude Pink 206'.
When removing the lid and twisting the bottom of the rest of the packaging to push the lipstick up the stick itself actually looks a bit like a peach colour as it seems to have a slight orange tinge to it. This surprised me a little because you would expect it to be more of a pink colour. The lipstick fits into my make-up bag easily and can also fit into a small clutch bag or even a pocket. The lid clicks back onto the lipstick and stays on there so you don't have to worry about it falling off and ruining the lipstick when not in use.
PRICE I purchased the lipstick from my local Boots store for £4.99.
IN USE: I find the lipstick nice and easy to apply as it glides over the lips and gives you a good colour and coverage from the very first application. You can apply it again though to build up the colour but I don't always feel the need to do this. I didn't find the lipstick particularly moisturising but at the same time it didn't leave my lips feeling dry either. The lipstick doesn't feel heavy on my lips which was good.
The lipstick seems to last a reasonable about of time before having to re-apply it; although I find that if you are eating or drinking then you will need probably need to apply it afterwards as this tends to make the lipstick wear off slightly quicker. This particular shade of lipstick is great for either day or night as it doesn't look too much and is fairly subtle. I haven't personally come across any problems or issues with the product such as it irritating my lips or the lip area or drying my lips out.
OVERALL: A good quality lipstick that I would recommend.
I do like the Rimmel lasting finish lipstick which comes in a good variety of shades. Presently I am using the Pink Blush colour and have found it to be a shade that suits me. I bought it from Boots for £4.99 and I think it is very reasonably priced for what seems a good quality product. It never goes mushy as some of the cheaper lipsticks do and goes on well and although it needs constant re-applications I find that it doesn't dry my lips and keeps them moisturised. It has a smooth texture and applies very well. It states that it lasts for up to eight hours but I find that it doesn't last that long.
I love all the shades in this range and I am going to purchase the Heather Shimmer colour when I next feel like treating myself to a new lipstick. There are thirteen shades in total and each one has a lovely even colour ranging from light pinks to coffee shade.
I think this is definitely a good buy and also when on promotion in Boots the Chemist the offer of buy 3 products for the price of two is a good chance to get a nice little treat for free.
I have tried lots of lipsticks, some from expensive ranges, some from very cheap ranges, and find this is a good medium range lipstick and well worth the money. At the price it retails for it means that I can have more than one shade of a good quality inexpensive lipstick.
Most people complain about how this lipstick does not last, like rimmel have falsely stated, but this fact does not seem to phase me since I did not expect it to, much like their "25 hour foundation". No one wears their makeup for 24 hours and we all know it is not going to last that long. I would say though that lipstick is a SUPER value for money. Being a student I have invested in and tried many drugstore and lower end lipsticks ranging from £1 upwards, so although cheaper brands such as MUA, Makeup Revolution, Natural Collection and others are available I feel that rimmel offers the quality as well as the relatively cheap price. I have been using these for a few years now and I have around 6 or 7 from their collection, ranging from neutrals to bright reds and barbie doll pinks. The application of the product is very easy as the tip is slanted in the traditional way. The consistency is shear, not too thick but I have never really found the need to use a lip liner as it has rarely leaked out of my natural lip line. The colour is very opaque in certain shades such as 09 but not in other which are lighter more neutral colours. My lips have never felt dry when using this product and it does not require any lip balm under the lipstick as it has quite a nourishing shear consistency. Overall a great quality lipstick at a great price from a reliable brand.
This lipstick has been a really good purchase for me. I don’t wear make up every day, in fact only very rarely, so I admit that I do tend to do the same-old, same-old make up routine with a few favourites within my sparsely populated make up bag.
When I was looking for a new lipstick, my criteria were fairly slim – a brand I’d heard of at the cheaper end of the price scale. This Rimmel one at £4.99 fit the bill on both counts. I associate Rimmel with good quality cosmetics, so at that price it seemed a real bargain.
I find this lipstick easy to apply, it has kept a good shape without breaking down over a period of time. When I put it on, the colour transfers readily and gives a good solid colour, pretty evenly. I bought “Amethyst” shade, which is pink/purply and although this is essentially a matt finish lipstick, I always feel a hint of shimmer in there too, which I think is why I really like it, it does feel special and striking.
The only time I apply make up is on occasional nights out, so that means I’m not in the habit of popping to the Ladies to touch up my make up during an evening. When I’m wearing this lipstick, I find the colour will be pretty much gone altogether by the time the evening is over.
It claims to be moisturising, and I would agree that this certainly doesn’t feel like it dries my lips out, which I am certainly susceptible to. I would certainly buy again from this range as it does a lovely job at a reasonable price.
WHAT IS IT?
This is lipstick made by Rimmel. It is special because Rimmel say it will last for many hours longer than other lipsticks.
There are many shades in this range and I like that Rimmel have made lipsticks in different shades of red, pink and purple because that means it will suit many different women. I am a beautician and I look for products that I can offer to different ladies when I do their make up and even though I would not offer Rimmel in my work make up kit I look at things the same way when I am shopping for myself. The Lasting Finish lipstick I have got is mid pink in shade but I do not know the name of it because the sticker on the bottom has come off.
WHAT I THINK
I think this lipstick is easy to apply but it does not last on my lips for very long and other lipsticks I have got are better, I have used up this whole lipstick because I like the colour but I do not think it is living up to the promise about lasting for longer than usual.
The lipstick is creamy but even after blotting my lips it goes onto cups and surfaces and that is not very pleasing because other Rimmel lipsticks do not have this problem so bad and I think it is strange that one that is supposed to last on your lips transfers so easy to everything. I like to wear this lipstick because it makes my lips feel soft and smooth and that is because such a lot of lipstick goes onto your lips when you apply it I think it gives a complete layer to hide any dryness or imperfections of your lips. It is quite a heavy lipstick to wear and some people will not be pleased about that.
I wear my lipstick in the daytime because it does not last for long enough to wear when I go out at night.
This lipstick cost about £5 and I will not buy another one because even though that is cheap I think other lipsticks work better for me.

Price and Availability
As Rimmel is such a big make up brand, their products are widely available in most Boots and Superdrug stores as well as most supermarkets and many online retailers. The RRP of this product is £4.99 and is currently available on eBay for as little as £1.25 with free P&P depending on what colours you would like, there are so many colours to chose from it would be stupid to list them all, so I will just list the ones that are more commonly available in high street shops.
Drop of Sherry
Coral in Gold
That might seem like a long list but the actual list of colours is about 50 long so that a very condensed version.
The tube is a standard looking lipstick tube in a metallic purply black colour, it has no writing on it whatsoever. It has a slanted top to the lid with the Rimmel logo engraved into it. There is a sticker on the bottom in the colour of the lipstick that says 'lasting finish lipstick 086 sugar plum'
The colour I have is Sugar Plum which is a light purply pink colour with a slight metallic tint / shimmer. It goes on lovely and feels really nourishing and moisturising when wearing it, but it does go on very thickly and although the colour looks quite subtle in the tube when applied, even lightly it becomes a very bright pinky purple that is a little garish for my liking. I don't normally put much effort into applying my lipstick I just whack it on and out the door, but with this I do need to blot it and apply lip gloss on top to stop it looking so barbie doll-esque.
This is meant to be long lasting as the name implies but it really isn't, now I don't know if it is because I blot it. I have never tried going out without blotting it due to its brightness but I have worn it out with and without gloss and every time it lasts about an hour or until I eat or drink something and it's faded massively. Now I normally wouldn't mind but as it goes on so brightly I wouldn't want to keep re-applying it over and over and having to look like a doll for half hour every-time.
This is a well priced, nice feeling nourishing lipstick that comes in a huge range of colours, the colour goes on really bright and strong but doesn't last anywhere near as long as it should and for that reason I can only give it 3 stars. I might try some other colours in the range but won't be buying this one again.

I'm normally a Boots No 7 girl when it comes to skincare and cosmetics but have no particular allegiance to any lipstick brand as I've never really found one that I'm totally happy with. I was browsing through the shelves (looking for something to make up a 3 for 2 offer) and I spotted this 'Lasting Finish' range from Rimmel. I am always on the look out for long lasting lipstick and with its promise to last for 8 hours, I thought this might be the answer.
Rimmel Lasting Finish range
This is a good value lipstick at £4.99 and is stocked at Boots and most supermarkets..
According to the Boots website it offers a high colour impact that 'locks colour to lips for up to 8 hours' and has a smooth creamy texture for 'comfortable wear all day long'..
It comes in a range of colours from Pink Blush to Pink Birthday Suit (it makes you wonder who comes up with these names!) with some deeper purples and reds in between. I opted for the Heather Shimmer (066) which is I what I would describe as a light plum colour. It's quite subtle and ideal for work use when I want to give my lips a bit of colour but still look natural.
On the plus side, the lipstick has stood up well to being rattled around at the bottom of my handbag for many months. It's not particularly flash or fancy so it doesn't look like a premium lipstick. However it's light to carry around and doesn't show any signs of wear. With other cheaper lipsticks I've had problems with the lid cracking or working loose but with this one, it still closes with a satisfying click.
The shade I picked turned out to be just what I wanted. It has a nice feel - and indeed fragrance - and applies easily. It is very smooth and creamy and isn't at all drying. It has a nice shine and leaves my lips feeling silky and hydrated.
On the negative side - and it is quite a big negative given that it is billed as a lasting finish - it doesn't last. I find I have to reapply it every 2-3 hours.
If you're not bothered about something that lasts for 8 hours then, yes. It's a nice creamy lipstick range offering some lovely colours. It's a good price for a nice lipstick.
Well no if you are looking for a long lasting shine to your lips that will last most of the working day. It just doesn't give that lasting finish which it is promises and for that reason I have to mark it down. A great pity that it doesn't live up to its promise.
I bought this in 'Heartbreaker' to wear to my school formal, as I wanted a colour that would match my dress. Unfortunately when on the lips it wasn't a good match at all, but it's still a beautiful bright fuchsia colour and I knew I would wear it a lot
It's very pigmented and applies easily, without dragging or bleeding onto the skin around my lips, which some cheaper lipsticks tend to do. It didn't dry out my lips but nor was it particularly moisturising either, although for £4 I wasn't really expecting it to be.
Heartbreaker is quite a bold colour so maybe not for everyone in the daytime but great for a night out with neutral eye makeup, and I personally love this shade.
The packaging is nothing exceptional but still looks quite sleek and is a nice addition to my makeup bag.
The name implies that this should be long lasting but unfortunately this is not the case. I found myself needing to reapply this quite often, nearly every hour, so Rimmel's claim of 8 hours is very much an exaggeration in my opinion.
For around £4 I don't think you can go far wrong with these lipsticks, they may not give a 'lasting finish' as claimed but they're still very nice lipsticks, with a good range of shades and I would definitely recommend them if you're on a budget !
I use a lot of make up from Rimmel as it's always decent quality and a price I can afford. One of the products in this range I really like is the Lasting Finish lipstick. This comes in a huge range of colours and I mostly opt for the lighter, paler shades but recently I decided to be brave and I bought myself a bright red one called Temptation (no 166). I bought this for £4.99 from Boots as this particular shade wasn't available in my local supermarket at the time.
The packaging itself is quite basic and I don't really think it looks like a particularly expensive lipstick, it's pretty obvious it's a cheaper end of the market make up product but actually the lipstick itself is very good quality.
These lipsticks have always been great to apply. They don't drag the lips at all and they don't dry them out wither. It's quite a moisturising lipstick and it really lasts for ages without coming off too easily when I eat or drink.
I have read reviews about this brand of lipstick before and a few of them have stated that this lipstick comes off easily yet I have personally never found this to be the case, which is why I keep on buying more of the same range. This lipstick is advertised as being able to last for up to eight hours at a time. I actually think this is a little bit of an exaggeration.
If I apply the colour after I've eaten my breakfast on a morning and then gone out to work at about 08.30am I usually find that it needs a bit of a touch up at around 11am, especially if I've been indulging in coffee and biscuits at break time.
The shape of the lipstick when new is excellent for achieving a good defined shape once I've lightly outlined my lips with a pencil. The lipstick doesn't feel heavy on my lips and it feels light and natural and just as though I'm using a lip balm, really.
It comes off easily with make up remover pads and doesn't smudge al over my chin and make me look like a clown.
It's a great quality lipstick for the price and my current Temptation bright red one is just beautiful. It's red without being too over the top. I've tried lots of different colours in this range and they are all great quality, long lasting and well worth the price.

Whilst I almost always have a full face of make up on during the day I don't tend to wear a lipstick having usually opted for a bit of lip balm or something instead. When I go out on a night out though I do like to wear a lip product and I have recently been looking at darker, bolder shades as the red lips do seem to be very on trend at the moment. One of my recent lipstick purchases was a Rimmel lasting finish lipstick and this is my review of it.
I bought this lipstick from Boots a couple of months ago on a three for the price of two promotion when I was buying some other make up products that I use more often. The price of the lipstick was around £4.99 which I think is reasonable enough but it is worth noting that on many occasions make up can be found on some promotion or other at Boots and I do try to take advantage of these.
The lipstick comes in a standard looking casing which features a slanted top on the lid which has the Rimmel crown logo imprinted on to it. Around the middle of the casing there is a silver band which has the Rimmel name but to be honest all of the branding information on this product is pretty subtle and I wouldn't automatically know it was Rimmel unless I looked for the information.
The colour of the lipstick is featured on the bottom of the lipstick casing and you will find that the name of the colour and the corresponding number of it is printed on a sticker which should resemble the colour of lipstick quite closely. I do think with a lipstick it is always better to try and use a tester or look at one at least as the coloured labels either on the lipstick or online can sometimes not be all that accurate. There are eighteen shades of this lipstick featured on the Boots website and the colours range from pinks to reds as well as some more neutral tones and so I'm sure there would be something to suit everyone in this range.
To use the lipstick you simply need to remove the lid and then twist the bottom to expose the actual lipstick. I am not going to go in to lots of detail because I think most people would know how to work a lipstick!
The colour that I chose is called drop of sherry and is a deep pink red colour which really stands out on the lips but isn't too red and dramatic either if that makes sense. I find that this lipstick glides on to my lips with ease but I do think it can be quite drying so I do tend to apply a little lip balm before this one so this may well help with the application. The colour really stands out on my lips and I don't like to use this one unless I have a full face of make up on otherwise I think it makes me look quite pale and washed out but when I am fully made up I think this really makes my lips stand out and is quite a sexy, statement colour. The colour lasts quite well on my lips but I do find I need to reapply it a few times over the course of a night especially if I am eating or drinking so that it remains stand out on my lips. I think the name lasting finish is slightly misleading here because it doesn't stay on any better than any other lipstick I have used in the past.
I think this lipstick is a good offering from Rimmel for the price to be honest. It goes on well and doesn't smudge all over my face if I am drinking or eating which I have known with some other lipsticks, even ones from Rimmel! There are plenty of shades available which are all pretty much bang on trend and so I am sure there will be one of these out there to suit your needs and you can purchase knowing it won't break the bank either!
Thank you for reading my review!
I was waiting for my prescription in the pharmacy the other day, and as always, I started to browse through the cosmetic stall as I waited. I'm not really the biggest lipstick wearer as I'm not sure if it suits me but my lips look a little bare with no colour on them at all. I found myself leaving my my medicine and... the Lasting Finish Lipstick by Rimmel.
What does the product do?
The product promises to coat your lips with head turning colour that should keep your lips looking pretty for up to 8 hours. It claims that it has a smooth and creamy texture that should keep the lips feeling hydrated and comfortable all day long.
The product has a wide range of colours available that range between pinks, reds, purples and browns. They each have pretty and cute names such as Firecracker, Sweetie, Drop of Sherry and One of a Kind. I eventually chose which is a pinky purple shade that I thought looked really pretty.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a black tube and you twist the bottom in the usual way to move the lip stick up the tube. It has a black lid and the lipstick is already molded into a slant in order to allow easy application. The product costs around £5 per lipstick and you can buy the product from stores such as Boots and Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
One of the reasons that I bought this lipstick was because of the delicious smell of it. It smells like a combination of fruity and sweets. I know the aroma isn't the most important thing to consider when purchasing a lipstick but it is an added bonus for something that you are applying directly beneath your nose. It is easy to apply to the lips because of the slanted edge and it is quite easy to be precise with your application. The texture of the lipstick is really quite creamy which means that the lipstick does glide easily and smoothly over the lips so it doesn't drag or pull the delicate skin.
As it is creamy, it does make the lips feel quite hydrated so it does make the lips feel comfortable and it doesn't make them tight. The colour is good and the lipstick is well pigmented. It is a pretty colour with the tiniest touch of shimmer and it makes my lips look eye catching and pretty. The lipstick actually has a glossy finish which I really like and so my lips look colourful and shiny. I do disagree with the 8 hours lasting time that Rimmel claimed that this lipstick had. Even without eating and drinking it lasted a lot less but after eating, it's virtually all gone. It's easy enough to reapply but it is a shame that it doesn't last as long as Rimmel claimed.
All in all, this is a good lipstick which has a creamy consistency, good colour payout and a beautiful glossy finish. It smells delicious and it is easy to apply the lipstick. It doesn't have the promised lasting time but it is easy to reapply the product so it's not really a massive negative in my eyes. I would probably repurchase another of these lipsticks next time I am waiting in the pharmacy!!
I have just come back from a wedding today and on the way I realised that I hadn't applied any lip gloss/stick so I made a dash into Tesco to remedy this disaster. Opting for a lipstick for a change I headed straight for the Rimmel section as I knew that my old faithul Heather Shimmer lipstick was bound to be there - how right I was.
Number 066, Heather Shimmer is a subtle mix of chocolate and purple hues (I'm not a red or pink fan) which I find complements my natural colouring and very dark brown (not natural) hair. I have been buying this shade for around 6 years now and it never fails me for a bit of colour but to be honest I don't find it is very long lasting.
The wedding today started at 12 and finished at around half 6 and within that time and approx an hour before hand I applied my lipstick 3 times. It wears off very quickly, especially if you are eating and drinking although it does leave a subtle tint to your lips (I can't speak for all shades).
Priced at £4.99 it's by no means the most expensive lipstick but it's also not the cheapest and I'm sure there are longer lasting ones available.
Rimmel say that the lipstick will lock colour to your lips for 8 hours but if my maths is correct today, I make it around 2.5 hours if I was lucky. The tint like I mentioned does linger slightly but in my eyes that doesnt really count because the colour wasn't enough to make any reall difference anyway.
Available in 30 shades, there is a colour to suit all skin tones, hair colours and moods. On the Rimmel website there is also a "try it on" option where you can try the different shades on 3 different models to give you a rough idea of how the colour will look.
Like most Rimmel ranges, the lipstick is widely stocked in supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug and pharmacies where you find their make up concessions.
This isn't a bad lipstick to use on a daily basis for example if you are at work but if you are looking for something that can't stand up to a bit more of what life can throw at it, then I would spend that little bit more.
Up until around a year ago I never really wore lipstick and instead stuck with lipgloss, however lipgloss doesn't tend to change the colour of your lips as much as coloured lipsticks can. So around a year ago I was shopping around for a bright pink coloured lipstick in Boots. Rimmel has a wide range of colours available in all of their products and so I thought they would have a wide selection when it comes to their lipsticks too, and they did.
They have a few different kinds of lipsticks to choose from as well as colours, these being: 'moisture renew', 'lasting finish' and 'colour show off', but as I didn't really know what the difference was between the three, I was just looking for a nice light colour and didn't really care what 'type' of lipstick it was. I liked the 'Pink Blush' shade which was one of their 'lasting finish' lipsticks and is meant to last up to 8 hours on the lips.
On application, I felt like I had to be very gentle as the lipstick itself would bend quite easily, and I didn't want it to snap. It has never snapped and I have owned two of these lipsticks since, but I do feel like I have to be careful when applying it on my lips in case it does. It doesn't leave my lips dry either as I have read in many reviews that some lipsticks do. It actaully adds a little shine to your lips too!
The only major disadavantage about this product is that it certainly does that last for 8 hours on the lips. It states that it lasts UP TO 8 hours, but I don't think that it lasts for even half of this. I often wear this for a night out and only occasionally during the day, depending on if it matches what I am wearing or not. I take the lipstick out with me on a night out to re-apply it and I probably do this around four times during the night. It comes off very easily but as I am drinking I thought that might be to blame, as it will be getting wiped off onto glasses. Therefore, I wanted to check if it would last long on my lips during the day, and so applied some before leaving the house and around 2 hours later, it was no longer so visible on my lips. For a lipstick that states it will last up to 8 hours, this is quite disappointing.
Another thing about this lipstick is that the lid seems to fall off this quite easily, there have been many times when I have rummaged through my make-up bag and found that the lid is not on the lipstick. This has not been a problem for me yet, as it has never wiped off onto the inside of my bag or anything when I have carried it around, but if it did, then I would not want to carry it around and it would be a one to avoid.
On the plus side, I do love the colour of the lipstick and there are many more to choose from when I fancy a change, and it only costs £4.99. It is available from Boots, Superdrug, major supermarkets such as Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's. It is currently in the 3 for 2 promotion at Boots which is across all of their make-up, and not just the Rimmel brand. I have bought this again and so yes I will continue to buy it in the future, as I do not mind carrying it around to re-apply it on my lips every so often. However, if you prefer a lipstick that stays on your lips for longer than 2 hours then I would not recommend this.
I quite like this lipstick although I wouldn't call it Lasting Finish as it doesn't last very long on my lips.
I paid about £4 for this lipstick which is quite cheap for a lipstick but since I find that not many lipsticks last I don't think they are worth paying lots for so thought I would give this a try.
One of the things I really like about this lipstick is the colour. They come in a wide range of nice subtle colours and the one I have is a pinky brown colour and there are lots of other colours to choose from which is good because there is something to suit everyone.
When I apply the lipstick it goes on really well and feels very moisturising and doesn't dry my lips on at all. It is a nice shiny shimmery colour and looks natural. It makes my lips feel very soft and smooth so cannot fault it for that.
One thing that I don't like about this lipstick though is the fact that the lid on it seems to come off very easily and doesn't click on very tight and so quite a lot of the time I find the lid has come off in my make up bag which is annoying and can damage the lipstick and create a mess.
Also the other negative to this lipstick is that it doesn't last very long at all which I find is the case with most lipsticks and this one is no exception but I still use it as I really like it when first apply it.
Colour that turns heads! Intense long lasting colour for up to 8 hours wear +25% colour impact! Smooth creamy texture for comfortable wear all day long.
