Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Heavy, feels tacky on the skin
I need to wear foundation every day as my skin is naturally quite shiny and blotchy, I look pretty grim without a faceful of slap on so having a good batch of make up is essential.
I tend to chop and change the brand I use in order to test them out and eventually find the one that suits me best. At the weekend I decided to give Rimmels Lasting Mineral foundation a go due to the price and the fact it's a brand I know and can usually trust...at least I thought I could.
The foundation is sold in tubes of 50ml and costs just under £6 which is what attracted me to it initially, on using the product however I wasnt very impressed. The foundation is quite thick which I found surprising and dark too even though I bought the lightest one available.
I had to work quickly when applying it to my skin, as it's so thick it dries quickly and can look rather heavy. I used as little as I could get away with but still felt my face looked too made up and rather clown like, not the look I want for a weekday in the office.
Once I'd sorted the rest of my make up it didnt look too bad but I still had the odd feeling on my skin, almost tacky and heavy. By lunchtime my skin was looking very shiny and felt a little sticky, the colour of the foundation was staying put but the matt look wasnt, so much for long lasting.
I've only had this foundation since last weekend so am sadly stuck with it now, I know that once it runs out I wont be buying it again.
Summary: Best for young and oily skin, not good for older people like me

- 25/03/09 This sounds awful - I'll be steering clear of this one - thanks - Catherine x :) |

- 25/03/09 I used a really heavy foundation and it gave me really bad spots that took 3 weeks to get rid of - you might be better of cutting your losses and get another one. Or try complaining to Rimmel - they may reimburse you or vouchers for another foundation? |
