Advantages: Price, coverage, lasting perfomance
Disadvantages: Could dry out some people's skin
I have been searching for the 'perfect' foundation for months in preparation for my wedding next week. I have literally tried every 'long lasting' foundation I could until I stumbled upon this product last weekend. I was a bit dubious about it as it only cost £5.46 - a lot less then some of the other leading brands. However when I tried this I was really shocked at just how good it was.
Coverage:
My skin is combination, it can be oily and dry and I am prone to the odd blemish. This foundation is slightly thicker then some I have tried and therefore gave me good coverage over my blemishes without having to use concealer. I thought this would mean my pores and skin would feel clogged up (which I hate). However it also felt miraculously light, fresh and clean, and felt like a powder once it was dry. The coverage was even all over and gave a near to perfect matt finish. I used Fair 100 and it matched my pale skin without making me look anemic or orange!! This product is available in 5 shades:
- Ivory 100
- Soft Beige 200
- True Nude 303
- Classic Beige 201
- Natural Beige 400
Long Lasting performance:
I have been disappointed with 'long lasting' products in the past as they seem to last half a day then need touching up. This foundation did not disappoint here ever. I checked myself midday and then when I got home (13 hours later), and the finish still looked nearly as good as when I applied it in the morning. I also did not notice any signs of it rubbing off onto my hands, clothes etc throughout the day. Other lasting performance products have gone oily, sat on the surface of my skin and even rubbed off to non existence so this made a refreshing change.
Conclusion:
After a few days of use I am still really impressed with this product and wished I had discovered it earlier. Price, coverage and long lasting performance are all excellent. OK so it only comes in a 30ml tube as opposed to the usual 35ml from other competitors - but the cost and performance more than make up for this. I also think it has improved my skin - it appears a lot softer when I remove my make-up at night, and it has dried up some of my more stubborn blemishes.
The only negative I can say about this product is that if you do have dry skin it could potentially dry it out further so I would recommend using another product or moisturising more than usual. This product also seems to contain a lot of ingredients to me and I would recommend people with sensitive skin check the Rimmel website or the back of the tube before purchasing this product.
Summary: I recommend this product over more expensive brands
