Rimmel Lasting Finish Minerals Loose Powder Foundation
Advantages: cheap to buy
Disadvantages: not right skin tione colours
I've got to the age where a little make-up enhances my skin as when I was young I never wore it at all prefering to look natural and as with all youthful skin you can get away with no make-up when your in your twenties but now I'm in my 50's I need a little help as I have a few blemishes that have appeared over the years and so a foundation cover up is sometimes needed to give my skin a nice even glowing look when I am going out on a business meeting or business lunch trying to get those elusive contracts.
I bought this Rimmel Lasting Finish Minerals Loose Powder Foundation online as I hate to go to shops when I can just get things delivered to my door, especially as I work funny hours it's nice to come home to a package to open and I bought this for 5.6g tub from shopmania.co.uk for £2.98 you can get it on Amazon for a little more, but why pay more when you can find it cheaper, as with all items bought online you have to pay the postage. Buying a few items at once saves money on postage though.
There are a few tones to choose from I got the classic beige as I thought this was the best one for my skin tone, I thought a lighter skin tone would need the ivory colour and there is also sand and natural beige for the deeper skin tones. I find it's always best to think about your skin tone before buying otherwise the face won't look natural when you apply the foundation, this I learned from an older sister who used to use foundation when we were kids at home, sometimes she's end up going out with an orange face !
This is another reason I would go without make-up in my youth as it always looked so false then, but things have got better since those days and products are really higher standards now.
Rimmel has a great reputation and this product lets it down slightly.
The tub has a twist off lid and the powder inside is quite compact. You can apply it with the make-up brush which comes in the box or use the fingers to get an even covering all over the face avoiding the eyes and lips. This covers lightly and you may have to go over the blemished or darker area's of your face twice to get a smooth covering, but once it is on it lasts for a few hours without fading or wearing off unless you wipe it off.
I have used this a couple of times but found that it gets a little darker once it has dried on the skin, so for me the colour wasn't right even though I had chosen the right tone for my skin I should have gone a shade lighter and got the ivory tone for a better match.
I was a little disappointed with this but it wasn't too expensive so I wasn't that bothered. I won't be buying it again as the tones are not suitable for my skin. The covering was good but I just didn't like the shades available.
Summary: not as expected
