I’m really not a fan of celebrity endorsement of beauty products. In fact, I am someone who would go out of my way to avoid choosing a product that has a celebrity’s picture or name on the branding, so it’s with some embarrassment that I admit that my current favourite lipstick is from this collection and has the name ‘Kate’ and a little love heart on the lid. I have, however, long been a fan of Rimmel’s range of colours, and so will just have to live with the fact that they’ve teamed these lipsticks up with Kate Moss!
Finding a true red lipstick is harder than it should be. I’ve purchased many lipsticks over the years, only to find when I get home that the shade is a bit too orange, pink or brown when it’s actually applied. It’s amazing how much the colour can vary when you put lipstick on. I remember reading years ago that when Robert Smith of The Cure heard that his favourite red lipstick was being discontinued, he bought a whole box of lipsticks, and I can relate to that. It’s a pain when you find the right shade and then can’t buy it again.
My current lipstick is shade 01 in the Kate Moss Lasting Finish collection, which is a proper red. It’s not too bright and has just the right intensity of colour for me. I admire those who can slick some lipstick on and get it right while hardly even looking in a mirror, but I use a lipstick brush to apply mine. To fix the lipstick in place, I apply Rimmel’s Lipstick Lock on top of the colour.
Lasting Finish Lipstick is reputed to last for up to eight hours. While this could possibly be achieved if you didn’t eat or drink in that time, I find that some of mine does inevitably come off on cups or glasses or when eating food. I tend to add a bit more lipstick after eating or drinking, just to repair the bits that have worn off, but all in all this is not a bad lipstick for staying in place. I also find that this lipstick doesn’t ‘bleed’ outside of the line of your lips, which is an issue I’ve had with other lipsticks.
I tend to buy these two at a time, just in case they get discontinued and I have to find a new shade again. At 5.49GBP and often on special deals, this is a good value lipstick, if you can cope with the celebrity logo.
This is a great little product for its price! Lovely matte red packaging to reflect the type of lipstick. These lipsticks aren't as drying as expected. As long as you prime your lips the lipstick goes on smoothly and hides some of the lines you get without a base. The product has a nice smell, not like the crayon smell you often get from 'cheap' brands.
I bought this product in shade 101. The colour in the tube does not match your lips once on but it's still a lovely colour, like a soft barbie pink colour. I'd happily buy this product in other shades if I found somewhere that stocks enough of them. That seemed to be my only trouble. Overall a nice cheap matte lippy for those who don't want to splash out on the MAC versions!
I definatly will be trying out more from this matte collection!
I've recently found myself with a craving for red lipstick. Usually I only use lip gloss but the last time I was perusing my local Morrison's makeup aisle I found myself stood at the lipstick section surveying the different red lipsticks on offer. I'd heard of the Kate Moss collection which has been a part of Rimmel for years so I thought this would be a good place to start, assured it would be good quality. I chose 01 from the collection which is a very bright, vibrant red colour. There is also an array of other colours from pale pinks to peach to purple tones that all looked very attractive also.
The lipstick comes in a black tube with the Kate signature on the tube. It is a sleek and small design that would fit easily in your purse. The cap stays on firmly but is also easy to pull off and use. As is the case with most lipsticks you twist the base to push the lipstick upwards and I think this is also really easy to do. Coverage is excellent. The colour is vibrant across my lips and is fairly easy to apply. The angle of the lipstick is a bit steep at first so I find myself missing my actual lips from time to time and have stained around the lips a little which can be annoying as I then tend to wash it all off and start again. So long as you're being careful however, this is only a time-to-time thing and can easily be avoided. After having used it a few times this eventually went away though as the angle softened.
It stays on the lips for hours. I only ever retouch a little if I've eaten or drank something and the colour has worn off slightly, but mostly it stays very firmly in place. The red loses its vibrancy somewhat later into the day if you are planning on wearing it all day and so if you want to maintain that I would recommend a quick touch up which I tend to do also, but this is also very quick and easy and so is hardly a complaint.
Removing is a little difficult I find as it tends to stain my lips when I wipe it away. This isn't that annoying unless I then want to wear a much lighter colour on my lips as they remain a nice looking pale red after having removed. I'm sure if I were a little more vigourous and used a remover in addition this wouldn't be an issue however.
I would recommend this lipstick as it is exactly what you want from a cosmetic product. It is very bright and attractive looking, and is a nice shade of red that stays bright for a few hours. The brightness does tend to fade in my experience, but only as the day wears on and after hours of use. The price is £5.50 or around there, although I have seen it at £6.00. This is a little expensive for people such as myself who only wear makeup infrequently, but it has lasted me a long time and I have got a fair bit of usage out of it when required. I bought it from the supermarket but it also available in Boots and Superdrug and so is easy to pick up and purchase.
Kate's collaboration with Rimmel London started in 2001. In 2011 Kate created and launched, with great success, her premier Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick range, since then followed up by a number of equally successful collections. Always bang on trend in both colour and finish, she brings to Rimmel something that only she could create.
The 1st Lipstick collection created by Kate Moss is her High intensity colour range that lasts for up to 8 hours. The formula is infused with Black Diamonds, and reflects light. It captues all the flair, edge and timelessness of Kate's unique look.
The lipstick range is avaliable in 9 different colours.
This range can be found in most chemists and supermarkets for around 6GBP. I bought my one from Boots just before Christmas and it cost me 5.49GBP
I love Rimmel as a brand and my old red lipstick had totally ran out. leading up to Christmas with many parties and family events I needed some more of my signature lippy. The one I had before was from Rimmel and it was of good quality and lasted ages so I headed straight for the Rimmel range in Boots.
I choose the Kate Moss range because I liked the deepness of the red and also the promise of 8 hours staying power. I dont like to keep reapplying all the time.
The lipstick I have is identical to the picture above. I like the feel of the tube and its thin enough to hold easily, however with it being black it is a bit of a pain in the neck to find in my handbag sometimes as it doesn't stand out!
The lipstick has a lid that clicks on, to hold it in place and you move the lipstick up and down by twisting the bottom. It moves very easily and glides up and down without sticking at all. The lipstick glides onto lips easily and at first shows a little colour but as the lipstick warms up against the skin the colour melts onto my lips nicely. It does stain the skin a little if you go too far over the lips, but not massively so its ok, I have to say when I first got the lipstick I hated the angle of the slope on the lippy and found it hard to put on my lips, but I wore down the point and after that it was a much better shape to fit my lips which made it easier and with no mistakes on my skin.
I have to say it does last a long time, especially if you blot the lips on tissue and then apply a top powder to it. It lasts many hours, I can go whole parties without reapplying. However the brightness of the red does fade, which some people would be ok with but I like a shocking bright red..... So I choose to reapply. If it was another colour I wouldn't and it would last the advertised 8 hours.
Taking it off I use a normal make up remover wipe which removes all traces of the lipstick and doesn't leave any residue or patchy colour on my lips at all.
A great lipstick, with a wide variety of colours in the range. It lives up to the promise of 8 hours wear and doesn't smudge. I like the easiness of applying the product and I think for the price its a great buy that will last me a long time. The only bad thing I can say is it keeps getting lost in my massive handbag (most girls can relate !!) but I do know that they have bought out a matte version of this range (that I plan on buying) and its a red case so will be easier to see.
Great product from Rimmel..... and maybe I will look like Kate Moss now? = P
4.5 out of 5 stars but I cant do the .5 so its a 4!
Highly recommended and I will be buying again.
Thanks for reading.
Kate Moss by Rimmel lipsticks are available from most departments stores, supermarkets and chemists so is very easy to get hold of and is usually in stock with at least a good selection of colours to chose from.
Usually available for £5-6 and has often been seen on offer in boots 3 for 2 deals do good price if you can get it in the deals .
I really liked the packaging which was probably the main reason I bought it . It was simple a Matt black tube with a glossy black inner tube, slanted lid with Kate Moss's signature down the side in a nice contrasting red colour so overall very sexy looking.
I was quite disappointed when putting this lipstick on ad it did not look the same colour on as it did in the tube . I bought a bright red 50s scarlet style colour but when I put it on it looked more pinky purple that red. It was also very dry and Matt looking which made my lips look rough and thinner and would deffinitly be no good for anyone a bit older .
The lipstick also did not last very well at all, I tried a few times trying to give it as long as possible to dry before drinking anything but even after waiting over half an hour as soon as I sipped my drink the lipstick would come straight off.
Overall I would not recommend this lipstick as it is not long lasting doesn't look good on and isn't true to the tube colour so stay away .
When Kate Moss launched her first lipstick collection in September 2011, I got a feeling these lipsticks were going to be Kate Moss' Topshop collection, over-priced and not the best designed.
When I went into a Superdrug store one day, the first thing I saw when I walked into the store was this lipstick, I had a feeling that they were going to be similar to other Rimmel London lipsticks, but with a higher price. The good thing about this lipstick collection was that there is a color for every skin tone and they have lipsticks designed for Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. The first collection was designed for Autumn/Winter, so the first color I chose in the range was 01 which was a bold, vamp, red classic lipstick. The price was actually affordable which I was surprised by, £5.99 (but I got a little discount as I was a student at the time I bought my first one) I tried it on the next day after I bought it, and the color was unbelievable and was exactly the color that Kate Moss was advertising. The color was so bold and strong it also looked like that you were wearing lip liner as well as lipstick! The best about the 01 red Kate Moss lipstick is that it actually lasted the whole day and you didn't need to re-apply, maybe once if the color started to fade (even when it fades it still has a strong color that makes your lips stand out) This lipstick color is one lipstick that every girl should have in her handbag, it's high street price without breaking the bank, as usually with good lipsticks, sometimes you have to pay a fortune.
Shortly after I bought this one, I decided to buy another one as a treat to myself. The next one I bought from her new collection, this time it was 05 which was more of a bold pink, which is a good color of pink because it's not too tacky, neon or outstanding. The color looked really natural, again looked liked you were wearing lip liner and lipstick at the same time, but the pink wasn't as good as the red one because it's color didn't last as long, and I needed to re-apply every couple of hours to keep the color on.
I decided to buy, a third one from the collection (started to get a little addiction!) this time it was from a spring/summer collection, 19, and it was more a nude color for a natural look. It looked good when I tried a patch test on but when I tried it on my lips I was a bit disappointed of how it looked on me. I knew this color was more suitable for an olive skin toned person. I think personally the nude ones are more designed for olive/darker skin tones. But the color lasted and stayed on which was good.
Kate launched after lipstick for autumn/winter later in 2012, and I bought another red lipstick, 107 which was a darker shade to the first one I bought, this one I was disappointed by because it looked like I was going to a halloween party rather than wearing a red lipstick as every day wear, I still have 107, and I haven't used it since, maybe for a halloween party.
As said on the label, the lipsticks are long lasting finish, I couldn't say all of them were long lasting finish, I could only say that for one or two in the whole collection, but these are lipstick worth having in your make-up bag. They are great for every occasion whether you wear lipstick as everyday wear, an evening thing, if you're going out to lunch or got a date, they're brilliant. The reason why I have four in my make-up collection is that they are good, quality, lipsticks that don't break the bank (costing £5.99 each, look out for special offers in Superdrug like buy one get one half price, or three for the price of two) These are also sold in Boots for the same price, as well as various supermarkets and budget saving high store savers, where you can get these a little bit cheaper.
So you can get a super-model look without having loads of money and you still have money to buy that new outfit for that night out or hot date!
Rimmel Lipstick: The Kate Moss Collection
I was lucky enough to win a magazine competition and my prize was a new Rimmel Nail Varnish and one of the Kate Moss Lipsticks which were both matching colours being a bright red. I don't usually go for Rimmel make up but I never look a gift horse in the mouth!
The lipstick comes in a cellophane wrapper that you rip open, there is no additional boxing or information. The lipstick is quite striking being an all over matt back colour with Kate written in bright red metallic font, this is called Shade 1. The Rimmel branding is etched around the centre of the lipstick. I really like the look of this lipstick; it feels sturdy and quite compact.
There are currently around eleven shades available in the Kate Moss collection which she has designed exclusively for Rimmel. These range from pale pinks through to intense reds which she is very famous for wearing. I did not get a choice in the colour that I received but was reasonably pleased with a bright red shade as I hadn't got one in my somewhat extensive make up collection.
These lipsticks, known as 'Black Diamond' are supposed to reflect light particles like never before seen in a lipstick, creating colours beyond the traditional colour spectrum. Rimmel state that these shades capture all the flair, edge and timelessness of Kate's unique look and give you intense colour for up to 8 hours.
The Kate Moss Collection Shade 1
My lipstick colour is an intense blood red colour that is bold and passionate and actually quite daunting to put on at first for me who generally enjoys wearing bold red lipsticks. To apply you simply glide the lipstick over your lips as you would any other lipstick. The pigmentation is really good on these and so you don't need to apply too vigorously to get the colour onto your lips.
The lipstick could be a little softer in my opinion, I find it is quite firm and can pull on my lips slightly if they're feeling dry. However this can be easily solved with a little bit of Vaseline before applying which I find also grabs the colour a bit better. The colour is intense and rich and stands out really well on my lips. It is also quite shiny and shimmers nicely when it catches the light. The lipstick stays quite moisture and doesn't split or dry my lips and the stain pigmentation lasts for an age! I was very impressed with the staying power of this lipstick.
I really like this lipstick and the colours available; it has good staying power and most importantly is comfortable and moisturising to wear. I only wear this shade on nights out because of its intense colour but will definitely be trying a paler and lighter one for the office. These are widely available in Boots and Superdrug as well as some supermarkets, anywhere that sells Rimmel products basically and retail at £5.49 full price which is very good value.
I'm a sucker for a bright red lipstick and it's something that I will wear next closest to every day. I'm always on the hunt to find a budget lipstick that suits my needs: a nice colour that's long lasting. I brought Kate Moss' lipsticks upon recommendation from a friend.
The colour range for these lipsticks are one hundred percent up my street. I originally opted for shade 001 and 004 because I couldn't decide between the two, 001 was a darker red shade and 004 was a dark purple shade.
The packaging is simple and sleek, the material of the casing doesn't feel cheap and it's black in colour with "Kate" hand written on the front of the casing lid. It's exactly the right size to carry around in your handbag or clutch bag if you're going out.
The first thing that I noticed about the product was the smell, it smells like watermelons but the scent isn't too strong for it to be considered overpowering. The product was very easy to apply to my lips, it wasn't waxy or drying and I could apply the colour exactly how I wanted it to in less than thirty seconds - ideal if you're on the go.
As for the longevity of this product I was more than impressed, I would apply the lipstick just before I started work and six hours later it would still be noticeably bright with little sign of wear - amazing. It's one of those lipsticks that I'll trust to last all day on my lips and I won't have to worry about touching up throughout the day.
I buy a lot of lipsticks (about one a week) and I have never used a product completely until I used shade 001. Since these two lipsticks, I have repurchased shade 001 and also tried shade 022 which is a pinker red. I'm very happy with both of these shades, however shade 004 failed to "wow" me.
The only downside of this product is that I find that it gets onto my teeth all the time and it's more than noticeable when it does happen. I've tried all the tricks of the trade to stop this from happening but nothing has really worked for me. However, after buying shade 022 I noticed that the product didn't stick to my teeth much at all and I only seem to find this problem with shade 001.
Overall, I'd recommend this lipstick to anybody. The results are amazing every single time and it'll be a product that I'll chose to repurchase over and over again.
Firstly I love lipstick, I have way too many but still cannot resist buying more. Secondly I love Rimmel, there really high quality products for an amazing price and thirdly the Kate Moss shades are amazing so it really was a no-brainer, all I needed to decide was which one to choose first! I went for the shade '101' which is a fairly pale pink.
Rimmel is a high-street/drug store brand and it's widely available in Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets and also some smaller pharmacies stock it to. I've always found Rimmel to be affordable and good quality.
* Be Iconic - Make the Ordinary Extraordinary Sumptuously Rich Matte Colour with a sublime comfort.
* Ruby Powder enriched formula. Intense velvet colour all day!
I'm not usually a massive fan of matte lipsticks, as they normally feel very dry on my lips. However when purchasing this I didn't actually realise it was a matte lipstick I just got distracted by the pretty colours and grabbed one! The lipstick is quite firm in texture and didn't glide on as I'd hoped it would but once it was on it was very comfortable on the lips. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's moisturising but it's not dry and it really does stay on well! The finish is matte but not too matte if that makes sense. One thing I wasn't overly impressed with was the taste of the lipstick, it has a strong watermelon taste but I guess some people may like that but it wasn't great for me. The main thing is it stays put therefore you don't spend half the day reapplying it!.
Within the matte range there are 5 shades available and I love them all, I'm desperate to try 107! I just wish there were more available.
The tube is red and black which makes it stand out in my collection. It has Kate's signature on the tube. The lid clicks on nicely and doesn't come off easily in my make-up bag. I really like the packaging.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
The price is just £5.49 which is very affordable and the product is very good quality and I think it's great value for money!
As you've probably guessed I'm pretty impressed with these lipsticks and definately will try it in some different shades. I just wish there were more shades available within the range.
I absolutely love trying out new lipsticks, and I love it when I find a lipstick that looks really good on and lasts well when applied. I recently started using the Rimmel Kate Moss Collection lipsticks and have bought a lovely deep red one (shade number 111) and a softer coral/orangey tone one (shade number 110) as well. I have found that they look really great on and are easily worn and am really glad that I decided to try them.
These lipsticks are really easy to apply, I find that they are really well pigmented and it does not take too much of them to colour my lips nicely. I sometimes apply these lipsticks just straight onto my lips for a darker, more fuller look. However sometimes I use my make up brush to apply them and this changes the colour and texture of them on my lips a little and makes the lipstick come out a little lighter in my opinion.
I found that these lipsticks are a great texture which makes them really easy to apply and it never really takes me too long to achieve the look that I am going for.
What I Thought
These lipsticks are pigmented really well, they look amazing on my lips and make my lips look really full and healthy. The colour that comes off this lipstick is really vibrant and looks great.
They are quite a good texture and do not dry out my lips or make them look chapped or unhealthy looking.
Sometimes, if I apply too much of this lipstick, I find it a little hard to keep it on my lips, especially if I am drinking or eating, however most of the time I have found that it has a good enough staying power compared to other lipsticks in the same price range that I have used.
There is a nice range of colours available in this lipstick, I love my deep red and soft coral ones and think that they really set of my make up and make my lips look fuller and much more pout-worthy than other lipsticks that I have tried.
Price and Availability
You can buy these lipsticks in the Rimmel counters in chemists or supermarkets, I bought mine in Boots on a 3 for 2 offer so it is a good idea to keep an eye out for these on sale. These lipsticks usually cost around £6-7 each from memory and I think that this for me was definitely money well spent.
I think that this is a fantastic lipstick with great colour pigmentation and average staying power, they are great value for money and look really vibrant and pretty on my lips. Overall I would give these lipsticks 4 out of 5 stars, and I would definitely repurchase them and recommend them.

Just recently I have been having a massive clear out of my make up. Anything I hadn't used in a while no matter the branding or how much it cost in the bin it went. Shabby looking bits and bobs....gone and now for once in my life I have a clean and crisp looking rather small make up bag and make up in it that I know is fresh and what I like to genuinely use.
This said though I find it hard to not buy make up especially now I'm back on the dating scene, its a kind of excuse though I am being careful with my purchases, making sure that they really are what I want and this is a lipstick that I read a fair few reviews on first prior to actually buying it in Superdrug.
I am a huge fan of matt lipsticks and my favourite of all time is Maxfactor Lipfinity to which I own a fair few of those however they can be a little drying on my lips though I do get excellent coverage but at over a tenner a time and me owning most of the colours that they have out on sale this is what led me on to looking for something else.
Everyone on the planet knows that Kate Moss is a model, successful and alot older now than a lot of models we are now familiar with of course and it seems shes been on the scene donkeys years. However as the years have passed not only is she a model but a successful collaborator not only with Rimmel but in her time with Top Shop too and she has her own line of perfumes and so on.
For a while now whenever I pop me tv on a commercial using channel there she is dolled up in Rimmel make up or in a magazine advertising the stuff so off I went to grab a bit of glamour....advertising and word of mouth really does work eh?!
In Superdrug I was greeted by the Rimmel stand and was ever so slightly disappointed at only 5 shades in this in the matt collection being available, all nice I grant you and I think that these shades would be pretty much suitable for any women of any age to wear but I would have liked a bigger range to pick from however a look on the worldwide web and on sites such as Boots, still there are only about 5-6 colours that are still in production being made however if your willing to buy older stock then you can find some other colours on sites such as Ebay.
This lipstick comes in a plastic red tube with Kate written on the base of it in black, a crown engraved to the top of it (The Rimmel Branding) and to the base of it our colour is stated (in my case I went for Kiss Of Life) and contact details for Rimmel are neatly given too. Its a standard size of lipstick with an easy to remove lid and to use its twist up and down.....certainly not rocket science to use this one! Its nice enough packaging this one to be fair and looks quality rather than tacky!
Well when you first open the lippy up you get a block of colour, angled to one side of it for ease of use. This has a very slight fruity fragrance to it which is actually rather nice and looks matt too in the tube.
My colour is a dark, rich and highly pigmented red shade, its gorgeous without being too in your face or fire engine cheap and suitable for a woman like me approaching her 40's with haste in my humble opinion!
Applying it is simple. I simply apply this straight to my lips and it comes off the block velvety smooth and sort of sets itself in place quickly. I did think that I may need a lipliner to stop it bleeding it out or to really define the shape of my lips but no, this is very simple to use and I can create good shape straight from the tube.
Although this provides a real matt finish and so really shows the colour off exceptionally well it doesn't feel drying on the lips at all, in fact I'd say it feels pretty moisturising if anything so it looks matt but doesn't feel it....yep I approve of that and it doesn't come of bad on my teeth or what I'm drinking out or eating though give someone a kiss a little does come off but still not awfully!
Once I have applied this with drinking and eating and so on I feel that I get about three hours of perfect looking wear from this, any woman will know that isn't bad going as most lipsticks do fade and remove themselves pretty quickly no matter the claims that are made, this makes none that I am aware of.
This may not have all day longevity but it is pure matt, is kind to the lips and really does give off a fab colour and I am happy that I bought this one and it even gets me compliments. I do however wish that there were a couple more colours to choose from, from within the range cos the colours available are all pretty similar being pinks and red and with one nude on offer...however nice enough they all are and I can see myself purchasing one or two more of these soon.
Available from all good chemists and supermarkets and I paid £5.49 for my tube in Superdrug though at the moment in Superdrug they are running a 3 for 2 offer on this range for a short time.

Lipstick is something that I only ever really wear for a special occasion or if I am getting really glammed up and going somewhere sophisticated. Otherwise I normally only stick to a tinted lip balm or a coloured gloss instead as I find that a lip stick can just be a little bit heavy and ageing.
One of the better ones that I have found is the Kate Moss collection from Rimmel. I just think that not only is it a good lipstick but the colours are so modern looking that it is hard to age yourself while wearing this one.
The lipstick comes in a few different varieties of different colours which are all really nice so you should be able to find one to suit you. The colours are bold and vibrant and I have tried three different ones now from light to dark and all of them have had the same sort of vibrancy to them.
The lipstick contains black diamond particles which are supposed to reflect light to make the tones more noticeable. No one has ever said to me while wearing it that my lips are reflecting the light but I do have to say that this lipstick does seem to be a little bit more vibrant than others that I have tried.
The lipstick gives a lovely satiny sheen to my lips without making them glossy or sticky. I do find that the lipstick is really thick though so I need to be careful when applying so that I don't go overboard and end up looking too heavily made up. A little bit of blotting does wonders though and I am left with not only a gorgeous colour but also plumper looking lips.
One of the biggest reasons that I don't like lipstick too often is that I am paranoid about it bleeding and also getting on my teeth and me not noticing. This lipstick is really good for staying put and it is quite long lasting too even more so if you put on the Rimmel lipstick lock on top to stop it shifting.
If I am on a night out I can usually get away with only having to apply the lipstick once or at most twice in a night which I think is good considering most come off when drinking etc.
I also think this is really reasonably priced. I love a lipstick by Lancome and this is almost as good but is so much cheaper at only £5.49.
I bought my first ever Kate moss lipstick last month from boots and I now own three of them. I heard so much about them but never bothered too much with trying them until a month ago. I have to be honest, they are not out of the ordinary, they are just a lipstick but in comparison to some very cheap lipsticks that I have tried, this is a lot better quality and the coverage is really amazing.
The lipstick comes in a black tube with Kate moss's signature in red which looks pretty chic. The style of the packaging is definitely very high end. I own three of these lipsticks in the colors 01 which is a true red, 03 is a perfect nude and 12 which is a deep coral color. I absolutely love all of these colors because they are the perfect shades for everyday use and the color you see on the bullet is the exact color that you're going to get on your lips.
They are meant to be long lasting lipsticks and I do manage a couple of hours before I feel like I have to touch up. It starts fading slowly and after eating and drinking, it does definitely need re applying just to keep the lips looking tidy. What I love about these is that they are not completely matte nor are they glossy therefore you get the perfect balance. I would however advise a lip liner be use to avoid smudging. The texture is pretty creamy therefore the lipstick can be easily smudged. I love it and for 5 pounds and 49 pence, these lipsticks are a complete bargain. I will definitely be buying these lipsticks over and over again, the quality of them is just so good.
I own many, many lipsticks, too many some would even say yet I am still always the first to be lured into a new release or raved about product; this time it being the Kate Moss Collection for Rimmel, in particular the matte lipstick range. I tend to have a love hate relationship with many of my matte lipsticks in that I love the longevity of them and the finish of them, yet hate the way they are sometimes uncomfortable or drying to wear so I was looking forward to see whether this range by Rimmel would fair any better.
==~~Price and Availability~~==
Kate Moss currently has two different ranges of lipsticks out for Rimmel; Matte and Lasting Finish and both of these are priced at £5.49 per lipstick. I actually find this an affordable price and actually expected them to be a little more considering most 'high street' branded lipsticks now cost between £6-9 or more!
As with most Rimmel products these lipsticks are available at both Boots and Superdrug, though I have also now seen Rimmel being stocked in both larger supermarkets such as Sainsburys and Asda but also local pharmacies.
In the Matte collection there are fewer shades available (5 or 6) which I think is mainly due to the fact it is a newer collection. Nonetheless the shades in offer were all really nice and there seemed to be a shade that would suit most people due to the fact there was a soft pink, a nude, peachy colour or a dark red. From this range I opted for the colour 107 as I had heard lots of positive reviews about this particular colour and the best way I can describe this shade is a dark berry red colour, but not plummy or purple based - almost like a lighter and more wearable 'vamp' lip colour. This range comes in fairly some red packaging that I wouldn't say is anything special, but neither does is look tacky or cheap.
The long lasting range covers a lot more shades and perhaps they are slightly more wearable due to them not being matte. This range has many more nude colours that the previous, yet at the same time has a bright red and pink so again think this range would suit many different people. I was impressed with both the shades in offer from both collections and unlike in most new collections there wasn't really a 'dud' colour or one that I wouldn't opt for myself. I also found all of the shades (when swatched in the back of my hand) to be very true to that if the bullet and they all seemed to be very well pigmented. From this range I chose the classic bright red colour.
Applying the matte shade (107) was actually a lot easier than I expected, often I find matte shades a little harder to apply as the formulation isn't quite as creamy, however this formulation was indeed very creamy and almost felt moisturising. It glided across the lips almost effortlessly and because of the ease in which it took to apply this shade I made no errors which can be very unforgiving when wearing a dark, matte shade which; makes the lipstick very clean to apply. Another thing I noticed about this lipstick was the scent, I normally find lipsticks to be pretty much scent less or to have the generic lipstick smell, and however I really liked the smell of this. It is a fresh, almost bordering on fruity scent that is very pleasant and actually reminds me a little of the scent of YSL mascara! As previously stated these lipsticks are very much pigmented so I only needed to go across my lips once or twice in order for the colour to be true and opaque- I did find that when doing this the consistency of the lipsticks were a little thick, yet it was not uncomfortable just different from many matte lipsticks I have used in the past.
Applying the long lasting lipstick was slightly different in that it felt much lighter to apply and although it was still creamy and had that slightly moisturising feel to it, it seemed to resemble much more of a balm like texture than of a thick or heavy lipstick one. It again glided across my lips with extreme ease, making it very easy to apply and I actually found the way in which this lipstick applied very similar to that of a gloss or a lip balm in that it was extremely silky. Once again this lipstick was also scented very similar to that of the matte range of lipsticks which I again enjoyed, although I could not really smell it as much once it had been applied. This range of lipsticks is just as pigmented as the previous, yet the finish is slightly more sheer meaning the colour is not quite as opaque, which I think is more flattering in the colour of these lipsticks.
Although I loved the finish of both lipsticks, I have to admit I slightly preferred that of the matte lipstick which is probably also due to its staying power on the lips. The colour is a lovely rich, deep red colour which has slightly wine coloured notes in it which to some people may sound a hard colour to pull off yet because it is quite a warm colour and not too harsh it is in fact very flattering. Although when applying I found the texture slightly thick, once on it actually feels very comfortable and slightly creamy; very unlike most other matte lipsticks which can be quite drying which is why I have now begun to favour this brand of matte lipsticks over others. The longevity of this lipstick on the lips is brilliant; I found that once applied it really does stay in place and even better despite the creamy consistency it neither feathers nor smears around the edges even when not wearing a lip liner. I can easily go a whole day without needing to reapply this lipstick - though probably would apply if I wanted to continue to wear it into the evening just to make sure it is looking perfect. I find that when removing this lipstick it does leave my lips with a bit of a reddish stain, especially around the natural lip line though this really doesn't bother me too much.
Even though I stated I preferred the results of the matte lipstick that definitely does not mean to say I didn't like this one as this is definitely not the case. The red colour I chose was lovely and rich and even though it was very opaque and bold in the lips, the semi gloss like finish of the lipstick gave it an ever so slight sheerness which I actually think makes this colour even more wearable. The lipstick itself was a very vibrant colour, though I found most of the lipsticks in this range to be bold. I really liked this about this range and was pleased to see that the lipstick kept this vibrancy throughout the time I was wearing it and it did not begin to look dull. This lipstick is very comfortable to wear in the lips and is not at all drying; it actually feels very moisturising and has a very similar texture to that of a lip balm once applied. The longevity wasn't quite as good as the matte one despite the name being lasting finish, though I rarely find other finishes of lipsticks to last longer than that if a matte one. I found I could get away with around 3 hours or so wear before feeling the need to reapply, which I was still very pleased with - even more pleased to find alike the matte finish neither did this lipstick feather or smear. Despite the colour of this lipstick being a very bright red colour, I found that it did not really stain my lips at all; though to be honest it never really bothers me if lipsticks do.
Overall it is safe to say I have been very much thoroughly I impressed with these lipsticks; I love the way in which they feel comfortable to wear even for long periods of time and never have left my lips feeling or looking dry. I find these lipsticks to be very affordable and due to the fact they are very pigmented and a little goes a long way I can see them lasting me a long time. I will definitely repurchase the shades I have when they run out and am looking forward to buying more shades from both the matte and lasting finish range - especially as they are currently on 3 for 2 at Boots!
I really cannot fault these lipsticks and in my collection they are currently rivalling that of my MAC lipsticks which have been my favourites for years; the only downside is that I don't find the Rimmel packaging quite as appealing but considering they are less than half the price it doesn't bother me too much. There is no doubt as to whether I would recommend these lipsticks and for this reason I am awarding them 5 stars!
Hey there guys,
This review is purely on the lipstick, I'm going to ignore the Kate Moss branding as I don't think this is important- definitely not as important as how it's going to look on you!
I am a bit of a lipstick snob so this is a review to those very particular wearers, if your just looking for a particular colour this may not be the review to judge on!
Purchase, Price & Packaging.
I picked up this lipstick for £5.50 at Superdrug, I was keen to give it a go as I find Rimmel products one of the better "low brands" and I will occasionally buy their Bronzer or nail varnish as they are very reasonable.
I really like the matte black packaging, however the 'Kate' emblazoned across the lid is a bit tacky, but I guess it's a good selling point (?!).
The texture made this lipstick difficult to apply, it really drags along the lips. The dragging sensation is usually reserved for matte effect lipsticks, so I didn't expect it from one with shine. I applied a coat and blotted off to allow the colour to stain my lips and then applied another coat. The shape was very precise and will not be to everyones taste, as the hard texture made the hard lines difficult to apply perfectly.
I went for 107 which is a nice deep, dark red. Great colour. It really lacked something for me, it wasn't matte, and it didn't offer the lovely moisturising effect of a lipstick with shine, it stands somewhere awkwardly in the middle.
Sigh, even after a really careful application it only lasted about an hour- and that was with no drinking, eating, or smoking. When I did smoke it got all over my fingers and really hadn't absorbed properly. I have quite full lips and the lipstick seemed to find creases I didn't even know existed to fall into! I could definitely wear it for a short thing, a quick meeting or something where it didn't need staying power because the colour was really nice!
Removal was no more difficult than any other really, came off quickly with a creamy cleanser.
You don't need staying power but you like one of the colours lots! I can't comment on the light colours, but 107 is a bit of a pain.
You like your lips to look really matte and chalky, or the opposite moist and creamy.
OK, it's fine as something to throw on but if you like good lipstick it really isn't great.
