Advantages: Lots of natural colours, available on the high street, very long lasting
Disadvantages: more expensive than traditional lipsticks
The title sums up the words that I can now freely say having applied my lipstick. This is since I purchased Rimmel's 1000 Kisses stay on lipstick in the run up to New Year. I normally use a traditional lipstick but felt it was time for a change, as generally by the time I get to my destination the colour has been removed from my lips. Indeed it probably wouldn't even be clear that I was wearing any lip make-up. ~ ~ Price and Availability ~ ~ Rimmel is a well-known make up distributor in the UK. Their make up stands are in most high street supermarkets, chemists and general stores. The stands have tester brands for you to sample before purchase. The 1000 Kisses brand of lipstick is available from this stand and the recommended retail price (RRP) is £3.99. This is about £1-£2 higher than your normal Rimmel lipsticks but this price difference is well worth paying, in my opinion. I buy my products from a local chemist (support the local traders!) and have not paid over the RRP. ~ ~ Presentation of Product ~ ~ The lipstick comes in a tube that is 11cm in length and 1cm in diameter. The distinct Rimmel brand colouring of dark maroon decorates the tube with consumer information written over it. It is not unattractive and fits very easily into my bag. Because of this stick type shape you need to swivel the tube to get access to the lipstick. The amount of product in the tube measures 3cm along and just under 1cm across. This appears to be quite a lot less than you would get in a traditional lip product. The packaging states that the there is 0.07oz (2g) of product. I cannot confirm is this is more or less than a normal lipstick dispenser provides as I have thrown all my old ones away. Yes I think this product is that good! ~ ~ What is says on the tube! ~ ~ Each tube has it's own bar code and a 'Made in Englan
d' sticker. At one end a sample of the colour together with Rimmel's name and code for the colour appears. Colours range from light to dark browns and from light to dark pinks. The colours that I choose were both soft coral colours and come in 'soft matte'. I get the impression that this is a more 'natural' range than a 'glossy cover girl with red lips' type of product. The tube explains that this brand is a long lasting lipstick that is transfer resistant. From my experience an application will last over four hours (an improvement on my old brand) and although I haven't tested the 1000 Kisses statement I have noticed that it does not come off onto cups etc when drinking. Following the instructions (which are recorded in English and French) you must allow the lipstick to dry after application, which takes about 60 seconds. ~ ~ How does it feel? ~ ~ As the hours wear by, my lips do feel a little dry and tight. Some sort of sealant in the product that enables the long lasting effect may cause this. This is a small price to pay and so far has not caused chapped lips. The product leaves no stains and is said to contain moisturising particles to prevent any lip peeling. On a personal note, it is nice not to have to worry about my personal presentation as much, as I know that I do not need to re-apply my lipstick. I had wondered how easy it would be to remove the lipstick but simple cleansing helps here. Indeed a scrub with soap and water does the trick. ~ ~ Where can you find out more ~ ~ One place I would not look is the Rimmel website, I had hoped to be able to provide a link so that future consumers could see their extensive colour range. They do have a website at www.rimmellondon.com but it is not exactly informative. So the best place to have a look would have to be at your local chemist or general store. I
n conclusion I am glad that I 'splashed out' on something different this Christmas. I expect that I will continue to use this product and would definitely recommend it to my friends and fellow Dooyoo users. As for the Rimmel 1000 kisses statement - I've yet to find a willing volunteer to help me experiment!
