Advantages: brilliant new brush
Disadvantages: use a top coat to keep it chip-free
If I ever use nail varnish it usually tends to be a very subtle pink colour as my worst habit is that I am a persistent nail biter, and the last thing I want to do is draw attention to them.
This year I gave up trying to grow Dynasty style talons as it's obviously never going to happen, and I have just about achieved the short and neat look.
I was browsing in Superdrug and decided to celebrate my newly presentable nails with a bright summery colour.
I chose Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish Up To 10 Days in 440 Orange Bliss because the colour really appealed to me, it's like a zingy coral orange.
There is a sticker on the bottle that says 'New Maxi Brush - Mistake Free Application.' When I looked at the brush I had misgivings about it as the brush is at least twice as wide as a normal nail varnish brush, and flat. I did think a bigger brush would lead to more mistakes, but in fact it went on perfectly, no mistakes at all.
It dries quickly, and you notice the lycra aspect too as it smoothes itself out over your nail immediately. I did notice that the colour dries a little bit darker than the liquid colour in the bottle, about one shade deeper I would say.
Rimmel make the claim that you can expect chip-free polish for 10 days. Mine chipped on the first day but I hadn't used a base coat or a top coat, and that does make a big difference whatever brand of polish you are using. If you do want the colour to last always use a topcoat!
The Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish polish is available in 22 shades including Pop Rose, Blue Vogue, Gold Infusion, and Coral Queen.
I bought mine in Superdrug, but I think Boots are offering a better deal right now. The polish costs £4.49, and they are offering a 3 for 2 offer on Rimmel products.
Summary: A fab polish for your summer nails
