Advantages: Colour stays put; only one coat needed
Disadvantages: Wish they had a bigger colour range!
I do not have a favourite brand when it comes to nail polish, and if I am honest I try to stick to the less expensive brands as I think that most nail polishes will chip after a few days wear, no matter how little or much you pay for them.
A few weeks ago I specifically went into a Superdrug's store to get a new nail polish, and saw that Rimmel had a 3 for 2 offer on all of their products. This encouraged me to get my new nail polish from the Rimmel counter. The actual nail polish's original price was just over £4, but as I decided to also get a new lippy and an eyeliner, I only paid £10 for the whole lot (I got the cheapest item free) and was therefore very pleased.
The colour I got is called 'Posh Trash' - I have no idea why, as I do not think there is anything trashy about it at all. In fact I think the colour is rather sophisticated. The best way to describe the colour is to liken it to a sort of beigy-coffee warm colour, which carries a slight metallic shine/shimmer to it. As I am olive toned, I find that the colour looks really great against my skin.
On the nail polish bottle, it is claimed that the polish will give you a long lasting 'Pro' look for 10 days. I am not sure what the 'Pro' aspect of it is, but I can say that after wearing the polish for 7 days, none of it chipped off! This is excellent in my opinion and I will even go as far to say that I have never before worn a nail polish that has stayed put on my nails for that long. In these 7 days, I have continued to proceed with all my daily chores such as washing the dishes, tidying up, cooking etc, and there really has not been much impact on the nail polish. This is a big plus for me, as I hate the way my nails look when nail polish begins to chip off and I always will remove it completely when the chipping gets quite visible. I do not know if it will manage to last 10 days, but I will update this review once 10 days have elapsed!
***10 DAY UPDATE!!: After 10 days of having this on, yes it has chipped. The chipping began to be noticeable after day 8 to be honest, and after 10 days it definitely needs to come off as it looks a bit tacky. However I think 8 days wear without significant chipping is fab! END OF UPDATE***
The applicator brush for this polish is brilliant and innovative. Rather than being a normal symmetrical brush, it is flat and wide. This makes application a lot easier in my opinion because rather than having to stroke the polish on several times to ensure coverage, a maximum of 3 strokes is all that is needed with this brush design.
The nail polish is thick but easy to apply. With this particular shade that I bought ('Posh Trash') I found that I only needed to apply one coat, and I got the rich colour depth which I always like to have with nail polishes.
As far as I am aware this range of Rimmel nail polishes comes in at least 5 other colours. I don't think they have a massive colour range, which is a shame really considering it is so good. Most of the other colours in this range are quite feminine and include various shades of red and pink.
As this nail polish has really impressed me, I would definitely buy it again, and would even buy it if it weren't on special offer.
Summary: I'd buy this again

- 26/08/09 I think eight days is pretty good too. I'm awful though, if I paint my nails I end up chipping it off out of boredom. |

- 26/08/09 Hey donna and bluejules, I am thinking that maybe the colour of the polish might affect how long it stays on? Mine did a whole 8 days without chipping! |
