Advantages: Long lasting, good choice of colours, quick drying

Disadvantages: Noe for me

I enjoy taking care of my nails. They aren't long, probably what I'd call medium length, but I like to treat myself to a nice nail polish now and again. I can't really afford the expensive brands so I have go for something at the cheaper end of the scale. I always find that Rimmel nail polish (and all Rimmel make up I've used, actually) are quality products at reasonable prices.

I've been trying Rimmel's range of Lycra Pro Nail Polishes. I've tried out some red shades and light pinks and their current one I'm using now is Camouflage Chic (no 520). I particularly like this shade as I think it's suitable for either day or evening wear. It's a subtle grey blend which is nice to wear for a night out but still understated enough to be able to wear for work.

This particular range of nail polishes come in a wide choice of colours to choose from and I'm slowly working my way through as many as I can. Each small 12 g glass bottle costs £4.99 each but I only buy them when they are on offer of three for two, or I have some Boots Advantage Points to collect. This way, it costs me nothing at all - and that's always the price I like to pay!

These little see through glass bottles come with the applicator brush attached to the bottle top, as with all nail varnishes. The brush is squat but flat and this makes applying the polish very easy and I'm less likely to make a mess and get it all over the skin around the edges of the nail bed. With all the colours in this range I've tried so far, they all have given me really good coverage and the polish is easy to apply and obtain a really professional finish, even with my shaky left hand.

As with all nail polishes, I apply a base coat before applying the varnish. Then finish off by applying a topcoat which seals the colour underneath and helps to make it last longer. This varnish dried really quickly. With this colour I like to apply two coats to get a good depth of colour and then the topcoat.

This range of polish really seems to outlast other nail polishes I have tried. I have to use a keyboard at work and so my nails are constantly being hammered. However, this polish will last me from Monday through to Friday before I start to notice the first signs of wear along the very top edges of my index fingers. I call that good value for money.

I can't really say anything negative about this range at all. They have a good choice of colours, they're inexpensive, they dry quickly, apply well and last ages. Top marks from me!
