Advantages: easy to apply, gives good even coverage
Disadvantages: the more you use the more 'gloopy' it gets.
Since having used the Dove Pro-age Handcream (please see review) I've begun to take a bit more notice of my nails & have started to use nail varnish once again which cheers me up when I'm typing away.
I like dramatic colours for my nails but found a bargain -not- to-be missed last week on my tour of our local charity shops - 1 x brand-new Rimmel Lycra Wear polish for 50p. It's not a shade I'd normally buy but for 12ml I couldn't pass up the offer now could I?
This colour is Grape Sorbet & is the deepish pink - like grape sorbet I guess!
I gave the little bottle a good shake before applying with the neat little brush which gave a good even coverage. I found it was just the right consistency - not too thick nor too runny.
I didn't really need another coat but thought I would push the boat out & I was really pleased with the results. Despite most of my body deteriorating quite rapidly I'm still lucky enough to have good strong, ridgeless fingernails so the application of a nice nail varnish perked me up a bit!
I'm saying a 'nice' nail-polish because it isn't amazing but it does what it says on the bottle. It's supposed to last between 3-5 days without flaking or chipping & I found that that this lasted about 5 days despite my using my hands all day, everyday. The results will obviously depend very much on different nail strengths/weaknesses, length of nail & overall health of the person using it etc.
I'm about half-way through this bottle now (having done my toenails as well as sharing it with my daughters) but am finding it more difficult to access the further down the bottle I go.
It's at the stage where the polish is going a little gloopy & the inside top is getting somewhat clogged so I doubt whether I'll ever be able to use the last bit. To be fair though, in my experience, most nail varnishes are like this - I can never actually remember throwing out a totally used-up bottle?
The ingredients & directions for use are supplied on the reverse of the bottle - surprisingly, although I always make the link between Rimmel -London, this is actually made in Spain (you live & learn don't you?!)
I would buy this brand again for the full price ( I think it's around £1.99 from Amazon) but choose a deeper shade.
