Advantages: Great coverage, natural looking, highlighting

Disadvantages: Brush is a bit pointless

I've always been a big fan of Rimmel makeup and almost everything in my makeup bag is Rimmel! A friend of mine bought the famous YSL Touché Éclat concealer pen and I tried it out under my eyes once and was really impressed. However I simply couldn't justify the hefty price tag, especially since I'm only in my early 20s so don't really have major under eye bags yet.

One day I was browsing the Rimmel counter in Boots and came across this which looked quite similar and decided to go for it. It cost £5.99 which didn't seem a bad price as bottle part looked quite big so it looked like it would last a while. The concealer comes in 3 colour, Ivory, Classic Beige and Soft Beige, so I went with the middle one, Classic beige, which seemed to be closest to my skin tone. The concealer describes itself as 2 in 1 concealer and highlighter which 'banishes signs of fatigue and illuminates eye area" It also states that it 'lets skin breath'.

**Packaging**

The concealer comes in a squeezy tube which looks a bit like a lip gloss. The tube is a skin colour with blue writing. It has a screw lid at the bottom which reveals a brush and you simply squeeze the bottle to make the concealer come out on the brush ready for application.

The packaging is nether exciting or offensive and is quite typical of Rimmel products which are all packaged in quite a simple way but without looking cheap. I'm more than happy with this packaging when it is for something like a concealer.

**My Experience**

To begin with the brush is completely dry but the product soon starts to reveal itself when you squeeze the tube. It does take a while to get enough on the brush to begin with to use the product effectively, however once the first use is over it is easy. The concealer is a medium thickness, it is neither watery or thick and in my opinion is just right for something you are applying under your eyes.

When I use it I simply make sure there is enough on the brush to begin with and then dot it beneath my eyes focussing on the eye bags and then blend it in with my fingers until it is even. You have to be careful not to over-blend it though or you can find that more of it ends up on your fingers than your skin! The concealer blends really well and almost melts into the skin, making it really easy to achieve a natural look. I also did notice the highlighting element as it really bring my eyes to life making the whole eye area look brighter. The highlighter doesn't look shiny or unnatural either.

I was really pleased with the colour of the concealer which matched my skin tone very well meaning it looked natural and not obvious that I had it on. This may have been luck, but I do feel that in general the colours produced by Rimmel are very natural and most importantly there is nothing orange about them which is always a good thing!

The only thing that does seem slightly pointless about the product is the brush, which really doesn't have much use other than for dotting the concealer on, which could easily be done with any type of applicator. I'm not sure if the intention of the brush is so you can actually blend it in using this, but I don't think this would work very well and would probably result in too much of the concealer being applied.

The concealer dries quickly and once it does dry you can't even feel that it is there. It doesn't tighten, irritate or weigh down the skin. I use it both during the day at work and also when I go out at night, and it always holds very well and doesn't slide of easily.

I've gone through 2 tubes of this now, however that has been over a year period whilst using it at least once a day, so I can say that the bottle lasts really well so it was definitely worth the money for me.

**Overall Opinion**

I would highly recommend this product as an alternative to more expensive versions on the market. It works perfectly in disguising my eye bags in a natural looking way and generally brightens my eyes and the tube lasts really well making it worth the price.
